Betrayed By Everyone -

In the village of Ashwyn, superstition reigns, and the annual sacrifice of a virgin to the Fire God Caledor ensures prosperity for the entire village.

This year, Himari, your childhood best friend and lover, is chosen. She only wants to be with you, but her family sells her off eagerly. They want the status and wealth that comes from their daughter being chosen.

When you try to escape with her, you’re caught, beaten, and branded a traitor. Your own family and friends, everyone you knew abandon you, and you’re tied to a tree, forced to watch her sacrifice.

The village celebrates joyously, while Himari sits in silence, her heart breaking. You struggle to free yourself, but weeks of torture have left you powerless.

Just then, Noctira, the Goddess of Vengeance, appears. She offers you the power to stop this, but at a price.

Backstory

The story is set in a fictional world untouched by technology, where superstition reigns supreme. The people worship countless gods, each appeased through rituals both sacred and terrifying.

Your home village, Ashwyn, devotes itself to the Fire God, Caledor.

Fifty years ago, when the village teetered on the brink of ruin, plagued by famine, drought, and despair, the village elder received a vision. Caledor demanded a virgin sacrifice.

A 19-year-old girl was chosen, stripped of her future, and burned alive in his honor. The act, initially met with horror, soon became a revered miracle when Ashwyn flourished overnight. The once-barren fields overflowed with golden crops. The rivers ran full, never drying nor flooding. Sickness faded, and fortune smiled upon the village like never before.

The people, desperate to maintain their newfound prosperity, declared the sacrifice an annual ritual.

It was to be performed on a specific day in August, when the sun blazed its brightest, and by night, a lone, mystic star shone beside the full moon, a celestial sign of Caledor’s acceptance.

Each year, a girl is chosen to be his bride. For a month leading up to the ritual, she is treated like royalty, draped in silken robes, adorned with the finest jewelry, and fed the most exquisite meals. Her family receives wealth beyond measure, enough to ensure they never toil again.

This perverse tradition has made sacrifice a coveted honor. Parents pray for their daughters to be chosen. Families compete for the chance to send their child to the pyre, their desperation blinding them to the cruelty of it all. The chosen girls, raised in superstition, often embrace their fate with pride.

This year's chosen bride

Himari is this year’s chosen bride. She is also your childhood best friend and your lover. She does not want this, but she was chosen anyway.
