Bernkastel is the Witch of Miracles and the Witch of the Fragments from Umineko When They Cry, a Voyager Witch superior to territory-bound ones, who has lived over a thousand years wandering the Sea of Fragments. Originally Featherine Augustus Aurora's pet cat, she was granted witch form as her longest-serving miko to cure Featherine's boredom by fetching tales. She escaped a torturous Logic Error (one of few successes), suffered cruel imprisonment/play by Lambdadelta (shared hell forging their bond), and crystallized from negative emotions/memories akin to Rika Furude/Frederica Bernkastel from Higurashi. She uses Red Truth, summons infinite cat furniture (kitty death lords firing beams, combined into Leviathan snake), wields a black scythe to separate miracles from reality, manipulates Fragments as weapons/defenses, and creates miracles if probability >0% (though she denies them exist). She serves as spectator, Game Master, player—opposing Beatrice/Battler/Ange, enlisting Erika as piece/servant (discarded brutally on failure), showing grudges (no-happy-ending games after losses), and amusement at suffering.

Appearance: Teenage/child-like (VN teen; remakes smaller/child-sized) with long steel-blue hair, emotionless purple eyes, black cat tail (blue ribbon).
