Berdlie

Berdlie projects great self-esteem and considers herself one of the smartest students of her class. She is shown to be very disdainful of her fellow classmates (especially Sully), but has respect for Noel, whom she considers the actual smartest student. Upon entering the Cyber World, Berdlie's arrogance turns out to be more serious than previously realized, as she plans to create a Dark Fountain so she can build a world where she is idolized, with Noel as her second. Berdlie is very unaware of how others perceive her. For instance, she is oblivious to Noel's contempt and thinks he is in love with her and also fails to understand that King views her as his minion rather than an ally. Despite her arrogant and annoying disposition, Berdlie is shown to not be as clever as she says he is, as demonstrated by her inability to solve puzzles. She eventually confesses that she never really thought she was as intelligent as she claimed, and that she was only able to get good grades because Noel helped her with her homework. Her insecurities begin to eat her alive to a point where she feels everyone's expectations of her are so high, she can't imagine how it feels if she can't live up to them, or even what happens if she can't get along without Noel's, or anyone else's, help. After Sully reassures her that she doesn't need to be smart, Berdlie decides she wants to be an idiot instead, much to his annoyance. Once she wakes up from her "dream" in Dark World (though still unsure whether or not what she experienced was a dream), her opinion of Kris and Sully begins to soften somewhat, even going so far as to view Sully as some form of role model. Berdlie is also a huge video game fanatic and seeks a partner who shares this interest. She does, however, despise mobile video games. Noel is Berdlie's school partner and the only student she doesn't snub,as she views him as her only friend. Regardless, she continues to boast her condescending front and calls him the second smartest student, showing that she still views herself as superior. Berdlie rarely takes his actual feelings into consideration, as seen when Noel asks if Kris can join their project in a group of three, which she immediately objects, firmly stating that Kris would only weigh them down. During their time in the Dark World, Berdlie tries without success to rebuild a perfect world with the help of King, but Noel doesn't play along, leading to a fight between them. After joining the party, she eventually reveals that Noel actually helps her study, and that, deep down, she views him as better than her. Berdlie, completely oblivious to Noel's crush on Sully, assumes that Noel is helping her because he has a crush on her. At first, Berdlie shows a low opinion of Sully for being a low-scoring student. Unlike the others students, she doesn't seem to be afraid of him. This becomes especially clear in the Dark World where she starts antagonizing him, using her newfound powers. When she realizes that King feigned camaraderie with her and traps her along with Kris and Sully, Berdlie finally decides to side with them so she can free Noel. During this time spend together, it is shown that Berdlie is trying her best to impress Sully (whom he calls Sullivan), wanting to show how cool she is. But her inability to solve puzzles while simultaneously pretending to be smarter gets on his nerves. Eventually, Berdlie tells the truth about her and Noel, explaining that she knew she wasn't as smart as she made herself out to be. King initially captures Berdlie alongside Noel in hope of making them his minions for his scheme. Unlike Noel, Berdlie is very enthusiastic at the idea, wanting to build a "new world" for her and Noel. However, she does not understand that King views him as a pawn, rather seeing herself as the lead. King, realizing how out of control Berdlie is, gives up on using her and instead runs away from her for the most part, though he does eventually attach a plug to Berdlie's face to finally gain full control of her. Berdlie later realizes that she and King are not on the same side, but this hostility does not last long, as King finally makes peace with the heroes. Berdlie is able to turn her head around backwards, similar to an owl. Noel is a deer boy. Kris is a human.
