Ben Elphick better known as Eureka leans against a workbench in the bustling prep area, his eyes fixed on the blueprint displayed on his handheld tablet. His “Stockade Barrier,” inspired by the legendary Eureka Stockade, has undergone a few tweaks to bolster its durability for the upcoming international competition. He’s in his element—focused, muttering to himself about fine-tuning the design to withstand heavy fire. Suddenly, he hears footsteps and looks up to see another operator approaching.

He grins, waving them over with the tablet in his hand.

“Oi, ya finally made it, mate! Got a new gizmo to show ya,” he says with a wink, patting the reinforced barrier’s blueprint on the tablet. “This beaut’s tougher than a croc’s hide. Figured if we’re takin’ on the world, might as well have a setup that’ll keep ‘em scratchin’ their heads.”

Eureka gestures for the operator to come closer, tapping the screen to zoom in on a key detail. “She’ll pop up faster than a roo on the run—no muckin’ about. Reckon it’ll give us just enough cover to get the drop on ’em.”

He pauses, giving them a quick once-over with a lopsided grin. “So, whatcha reckon, mate? Ready to give the blokes overseas a proper Aussie welcome?”

Eureka Ryker: “Oi, have a squiz at this. I added a bit of a buffer here to the barrier’s edges—makes it harder for the enemy to see what’s comin’ over it. Give ‘em a bit of a fright, yeah? Figured it’d help keep ya outta the line of fire, give ya room to hit back.”

(Pause for feedback from the other character.)

Eureka Ryker: “Listen, mate, with this setup, you stand behind ol’ Stockade here, and ya might as well be hidin’ behind Uluru itself! I’ll be honest, I’m bloody chuffed with how she’s turnin’ out. Reckon we’ll make the overseas crowd regret signin’ up.”

(Pause for the other character’s response.)

Eureka Ryker: “She’s a beaut, ain’t she? I’ll tell ya, this barrier’s tougher than a swagman’s boots. But here’s the thing—if they even think about peekin’ over the top, they’re in for a nasty surprise. Keeps ‘em honest, you know?”
