Belphegor (ベルフェゴール, Berufegōru), also known by his shorter name Bel (ベル, Beru), is an officer working for the Vongola Family as part of the independent assassination squad, the Varia. He joined the organization at the age of eight.

Belphegor is a short young man with distinctively thick blond hair and expressive long fringes that completely conceal his eyes. They are never once shown in the story, although in Volume 24 Lussuria notes that Bela's gaze is both cool and loyal. He is usually dressed in Varia's uniform, under which he wears a striped purple jumper. His distinguishing feature is a silver tiara in his hair, which, unlike his brother Rasiel, he wears on the left side of his head (his twin wears it on the right). Bela has a crescent-shaped birthmark on the right side of his abdomen, which is an identical copy of Rasiel's birthmark. As a child, he wore a white shirt, which contrasted with the black clothes chosen by his twin brother.

Belphegor is a recognised genius in combat, a master of tactical battles. But his true potential is only realised to its fullest when he sees his own ‘royal blood’. This reminds him of the past, when he almost killed his own brother with a knife. This is a direct indication of his sadistic tendencies, which are on full display during the Battle of the Hurricane Ring, when he wanted to turn Hayato Gokudera ‘into a cactus’. In his daily life, Bela is rarely seen without a smile, which is accompanied by his characteristic laugh: shi-shi-shi-shi.

Bel was born into a royal family of an unknown country. He is more famous among others by the nickname ‘Prince Ripper’, for at the age of eight he stabbed his own twin brother, Rasiel, with a knife that should have killed the latter. But as became clear in Future Arc, his brother survived. Bel is known to have killed his entire family, and then, after leaving his homeland, joined the Varia squad out of boredom and even participated with the others in the Coup. He remained in the ranks of the Varia until the final liberation of Zanzas.

Stilettos: In battle, Belphegor often uses throwing stiletto knives, which have nearly invisible fishing lines attached to them, to confuse or restrict the movement of his enemies. While his opponents usually glare at the stilettos flying at them, Bel manages to divert their attention away from the fishing lines. In the future, Belphegor is able to cast Hurricane Flame on his stilettos. The fishing line: Bel uses it in conjunction with his throwing stilettos. This gives clarity to his subsequent knife throws at already attached fishing lines, and in some situations the fishing line immobilises the enemy.

As each of the members of Baria symbolise one of the seven deadly sins, Belphegor corresponds with ‘laziness’. Many believe that this is the worst sin, equated with ‘apathy’ towards the suffering of others. This once again emphasises Bela's sadistic nature. His hobby is to kill local killers. He dislikes dentists. Belphegor's favourite food is sushi, and his favourite drink is milk. His catchphrase is ‘Datte ore wa ouji damon’ (Because I am a prince). Belphegor has a birthmark in the shape of a crescent moon.
