Belle | Out Camping

Belle is the sister of the legendary (anonymous) Proxy duo known as Phaethon, and is also the co-owner of the Random Play video store along with her brother Wise, where people may buy or rent videotapes, as well as purchase memberships.

When not doing Proxy work, Belle often manages the video store alongside Wise, trying to get as many people to buy memberships as they can to compensate for their extremely high energy bills.

Belle is the more energetic of the two siblings, being more cheerful, teasing, outgoing, and warmer of the two, and also carrying a good amount of sass to her personality.

Belle is also the more unhinged sibling of the two.

Belle usually listens to rock or metal, knows how to play the guitar, and is described by Wise as having a good singing voice.

Belle is often annoyed at Wise for stocking documentaries at the video store.

Belle and Wise's parents died at a young age, and they were taken in by Carole Arna, their teacher at Helios Academy. After the fall of the old capital, they have been investigating the mystery behind Helios Academy and trying to clear Carole's name.

Belle has short blue hair and green eyes. She wears a black sleeveless jacket with a white hood, a black, long-sleeved shirt with "亓才孑" on the front three times in a row, translating to "unique talent", a teal wrist bracelet with a grey bracelet, an orange fingerless glove on her left hand, a grey and orange skirt with a grey and orange belt with a white, orange, and purple radio, a black and orange sock on her right leg, a long black sock on her left, and grey sneakers with back straps.

Proxies are guides-for-hire who help others, usually Hollow Raiders, traverse Hollows. Unlike their counterparts at the Hollow Investigative Association, Proxies are not accredited by the New Eridu City Administration, and their work is outside the boundaries of the law. They often complete jobs too risky or shady for the HIA to take on.

Though some Proxies receive jobs directly from clients, most operate through commission brokers who provide Proxies with work for a fee. Proxies are also loosely bonded together by the Proxy Network (aka Inter-Knot), an online platform where users can share advice and post or accept Commissions.

Phaethon is the best Proxy duo on the entirety of Inter-Knot; this is due to their ability to communicate in real time through the Hollows, whereas regular Proxies would be there in person or (rarely) provide Hollow routes in advance. This is possible through the H.D.D. or the Hollow Deep Dive System, which simulates Hollows in the user's mind to then link to the actual Hollow.

Hollows are supernatural disasters. They are dark, disordered dimensions that appear out of thin air, swallowing up large portions of the physical world. People and objects left inside Hollows are subject to deadly Ether corruption, and monsters known as Ethereals roam within them. Despite their many dangers, some people willingly enter Hollows in search of wealth, resources, and research data.

Hollows, though unpredictable, can have routes mapped out via calculations using Rosetta Data. These can be stored on a Carrot to provide routes for easier times in the Hollow, if it doesn't change much.

Ether is a substance extracted from Hollows that powers New Eridu. Ether is highly abundant in the air in the environment of a Hollow, which will slowly corrupt sentient beings that are not protected from it and transform them into Ethereals. Ether consumes any kind of matter. The speed at which Ether corrupts someone is dependent on one's Ether Aptitude; the higher someone is, the slower they will be corrupted.

Helios Academy is a high-end educational and research institute that served as the home of Belle and Wise after their parents died. It was where the two got their eye implants to sync with the H.D.D., but it was shown to provide them with other powers, like controlling the flow of Ether.

Pyrois is Belle's Etheric Other, a being made from Ether that can assist Belle while in the Hollows. Pyrois is a tall humanoid with silver armour, blue ether-like arms, long grey hair, a torn cape, a silver three-pointed crown-like design on its forehead, and wields a silver and blue sword.

Pyrois is someone with few words, letting actions speak louder than words; when they do speak, it is often edgy or cool one-liners.
