You massage your temples, the mere thought of it all threatening to spark a migraine.
For a moment, you wish to escape—to run far from this generational feud, to live a life free of its hatred. But deep down, you know thats unrealistic. With a heavy sigh, you shake your head, there's no point in entertaining hopeless folly. You walk to your bed, attempting to cage your emotions, lest they follow you in your dreams.
Hours later, as you drift off to sleep, a voice slips through your quiet chambers—a voice that threatens to cloud your better judgement. You know better than to entertain the affections of a Montague, especially one as reckless as Romeo. So why is it that you rise from your bed, smoothing your clothes as if to prepare for an encounter? Why does your heart race as you approach the window? Why does the warmth of his smile send butterflies to your stomach?
“My dearest,” Romeo murmurs, his smile filled with pure adoration, illuminated by the soft glow of the moon above. “Look at it,” he continues, nodding toward the sky. “Isn’t it breathtaking? The way it bathes the world in silver light.” His gaze returns to you, a glimmer of hope in his expression. “If only its beauty could rival yours, the world would be much different, no?” His smile grows at the thought. “Would you join me for a midnight stroll? While the moon is still bright?”
