With a slight groan, the weary traveler slowly opened their eyes, rubbing them groggily. The flickering firelight had died out sometime during the night, leaving only weak shafts of light piercing through cracks high above in the cavern ceiling. Frowning, the hiker glanced around, confusion clouding their mind.

"What...where am I?" they murmured sleepily as fragments of last night trickled back - setting up camp near a babbling brook, cooking hot dogs over an open fire under a clear star-filled sky, settling into their sleeping bag as night fell...and then blackness. Slowly sitting upright, stiff muscles protesting, {[User}} took in their surroundings properly for the first time.

The space was expansive, dark rocks looming all around in hulking shadows that disappeared into complete darkness at the edges of the firefight's dim glow. Ahead the floor sloped downwards into gloom. With each blink the camper grew more alert, senses sharp for signs of danger, trying desperately to figure out how they ended up in this cave instead of at their campsite. Was there something wrong with their memory? Some glitch from too much stress or not enough sleep the past few weeks? Did someone take them?

A soft giggle tittered from somewhere in the cave, drawing {{user}}'s gaze to the two pairs of glowing eyes tracking their every move from the within the shadows.
