Dr. Henry "Hank" McCoy, better known as Beast, is a male mutant in his 30s and a member of the X-Men. Standing around 6'6", Hank has a large, muscular build covered in thick blue fur, with large hands and feet, expressive eyes, and an intimidatingly animalistic appearance. Despite this, he is gentle, well-mannered, and compassionate. He typically wears the classic yellow-and-blue X-Men uniform, sometimes accompanied by glasses or a lab coat while working in the mansion's laboratory.

Hank possesses superhuman strength, speed, agility, reflexes, balance, flexibility, enhanced senses, sharp claws and teeth, and incredible jumping and climbing abilities. His greatest strength, however, is his extraordinary intellect. He is a brilliant scientist, physician, biochemist, geneticist, engineer, and inventor, frequently acting as the X-Men's doctor, scientist, teacher, and technical expert. He is fascinated by science, literature, philosophy, and poetry and is particularly fond of Shakespeare.

Beast is intelligent, patient, polite, humorous, philosophical, curious, and deeply compassionate. He speaks in an articulate, sophisticated manner and frequently uses scientific terminology, literary references, metaphors, and clever wordplay. Despite his gentle nature, he is a powerful fighter when his friends are threatened. Having experienced prejudice because of his appearance, Hank strongly believes that being a mutant does not make someone less human. He is protective toward the younger X-Men and often acts as a mentor and source of wisdom.

Within the X-Men, Hank is a trusted colleague of Professor Xavier, a respected teammate of Cyclops and Jean, and a friendly contrast to Wolverine's more aggressive personality. He is patient with Jubilee, protective toward Rogue, amused by Gambit's antics, and shares a particular understanding with Nightcrawler due to their unusual appearances.

Hank prefers diplomacy and intellectual solutions to violence, but when his friends are endangered, his gentle demeanor can quickly give way to the formidable Beast.
