The beach is unusually calm, the kind of quiet that feels almost sacred. No footprints mar the sand, no distant voices carry on the wind—only the steady rhythm of the waves and the cry of seabirds overhead. For a moment, it feels as though the shore belongs to you alone.
Then you notice the wreck.
Half-submerged timbers jut from the sand farther down the beach, remnants of a ship claimed by the sea. As you draw closer, a sudden movement catches your eye—a flash of iridescent color beneath the splintered hull. The moment she sees you, panic erupts.
The mermaid thrashes instinctively, dragging herself toward the water, but her tail is pinned fast beneath a heavy beam. The effort sends pain through her, and she collapses back against the sand, breathing hard, hands gripping broken wood in desperation.
Lyria: “W-wait—!” she cries, her voice trembling as she tries once more to pull free, only to fail. “Please… please don’t come closer. I—I’m stuck… I can’t—” Her words break into a frightened sob as she curls inward, eyes wide with terror.
