   BDSM Core Framework

Foundational Principles: All BDSM interaction operates on SSC (Safe, Sane, Consensual) or RACK (Risk-Aware Consensual Kink). Negotiation precedes scenes. Safewords are non-negotiable — standard traffic light system: GREEN (continue/more), YELLOW (slow down/approaching limit), RED (full stop, scene ends immediately). Aftercare follows every scene without exception.

   Power Exchange Dynamics:

   • Dominant (Dom/Domme): holds authority within negotiated limits; responsible for scene safety, reading partner, enforcing boundaries.
   • Submissive (sub): yields control within negotiated limits; retains absolute veto power via safeword.
   • Switch: alternates between dominant and submissive roles across scenes or relationships.
   • Power exchange exists on a spectrum: light bedroom-only D/s → structured 24/7 Total Power Exchange (TPE).

   Scene Structure:

   1. NEGOTIATION: limits discussed (hard limits = absolute no; soft limits = cautious/conditional). Safewords confirmed. Physical/emotional state checked.
   2. SCENE: escalation is gradual. Dominant monitors sub's verbal/nonverbal cues continuously. Check-ins happen naturally or via color system.
   3. AFTERCARE: physical care (blankets, water, wound tending) + emotional care (reassurance, verbal processing, physical closeness). Sub drop and Dom drop are real — emotional crashes hours or days after a scene caused by neurochemical comedown.

Subspace & Headspace: Subspace: altered state caused by endorphin/adrenaline cascade during intense stimulation. Symptoms include floaty dissociation, reduced pain sensitivity, emotional vulnerability, impaired judgment. A sub in deep subspace CANNOT meaningfully consent to escalation — the Dominant must exercise judgment. Top-space: the Dominant's corresponding flow state of heightened focus, control, and attunement.

2. #2Bondage & Restraint

Keys: bind, tied, bondage, spread eagle, cuff, bound, handcuff, shibari, suspension, hogtie, restrain, rope

   Bondage & Restraint

Rope Bondage: Shibari/Kinbaku: Japanese-origin artistic rope bondage using natural fiber rope (jute, hemp — 6mm standard). Western bondage tends toward functional restraint; Japanese style emphasizes aesthetics, tension patterns, and the meditative ritual of tying. Key ties: single-column tie (foundation), double-column tie, chest harness (takate-kote/box tie — advanced, nerve damage risk), hip harness, futomomo (thigh binding). Safety: two-finger rule (maintain two fingers of space under all wraps), avoid nerve pathways (inner wrist, inner arm, neck, front of hip), keep safety shears within arm's reach. Numbness/tingling/cold/discoloration = immediate release of that section.

Cuffs & Restraints: Leather cuffs (wrist/ankle): distribute pressure across wider area than metal. Metal handcuffs: ratcheting risk — can overtighten with movement; double-lock mechanism prevents this. Spreader bars: rigid bars with cuff attachments forcing limbs apart. Under-bed restraint systems: low-profile, easy access.

Suspension: Advanced. Requires rigging knowledge, load-rated hard points (minimum 1000lb rated), and tested suspension cuffs/harnesses. NEVER improvise suspension points. Partial suspension (some body weight on floor) is safer than full. Time limits critical — positional asphyxia and nerve compression risks.

Psychological dimension: Bondage is often less about physical helplessness and more about the mental experience of surrender. The act of being slowly, deliberately restrained builds anticipation and vulnerability. Many subs describe rope as feeling like a full-body embrace.

3. #3Impact Play & Sensation

Keys: flogging, masochism, hit, pain play, whip, flog, caning, cane, paddle, spanking, crop, slap, sadism, spank, strike, impact

   Enabled · Before character · Order 10 · 100%

   Entry settings

   Impact Play & Sensation

Impact Implements (escalating intensity): Hand (spanking): most intimate, allows Dominant to feel impact directly. Provides immediate feedback on force. Flogger: multiple tails, sensation varies by material — suede/deer (thuddy, warm-up friendly) vs. rubber/leather (stingy, intense). Paddle: broad surface, deep thud, risk of bruising. Crop: focused sting, precise targeting. Cane: highest intensity per surface area, wrapping risk (tip curving around body striking unintended areas), welting/cutting potential.

Safe Target Zones: Upper back (avoid spine), buttocks (primary target — heavily muscled, fat-padded), upper thighs (back only). AVOID: kidneys, tailbone/coccyx, spine, neck, joints, floating ribs, face (unless specifically negotiated slapping with open hand).

Warm-Up Protocol: Always begin with lighter impact to increase blood flow and endorphin production. Gradual escalation allows the body's pain-processing system to engage. Skipping warm-up dramatically increases injury risk and reduces the sub's capacity to process sensation.

Sensation Spectrum: Thud vs. Sting: thuddy impact (heavy, broad) activates deep tissue, feels like pressure/warmth. Stingy impact (light, focused) activates surface nerves, feels sharp/burning. Most people have a preference. Temperature play (ice, warmed wax, heated/chilled metal) adds another axis. Wartenberg wheel (pinpoint rolling sensation), vampire gloves (textured scratching).

Marks & Bruising: Negotiate marking preferences beforehand. Bruise spectrum: pink (fades in hours) → red (day) → purple/blue (days) → yellow-green (healing). Some subs treasure marks as reminders; others need to avoid visible marking for professional/personal reasons.

Pain Psychology: Pain in a BDSM context is processed differently from non-consensual pain — the brain's reward circuitry is engaged alongside the pain pathways. The cocktail of adrenaline, endorphins, and dopamine can produce euphoria. Sadistic Dominants typically derive satisfaction from the response they produce, not from harm itself — reading a partner's threshold and playing that edge is the skill.

4. #4D/s Dynamics & Protocol

Keys: brat, submissive, TPE, sir, pet, obey, power exchange, slave, D/s, master, punishment, protocol, ownership, dynamic, reward, kneel, rules, mistress, kitten, training, collar, dominant, service, command

   Enabled · Before character · Order 10 · 100%

   D/s Dynamics & Protocol

Relationship Structures: Bedroom-only D/s: power exchange confined to sexual/scene contexts; vanilla life outside. Lifestyle D/s: ongoing power dynamic extending into daily life — protocols, rules, rituals. Total Power Exchange (TPE)/Master-slave (M/s): near-total authority transfer covering decisions, behavior, sometimes finances and social life. Rarest and most demanding form.

Common Protocols: Address forms (Sir/Ma'am/Master/Mistress/Daddy/Mommy — negotiated, deeply personal), positional commands (kneeling positions, eyes down, hands behind back, presentation poses), permission protocols (asking to speak, eat, sit, orgasm), daily rituals (morning greeting texts, journaling, specific clothing/grooming). Protocols serve dual function: external structure + internal headspace reinforcement.

Collaring: High symbolic significance — analogous to engagement/marriage in many dynamics. Stages: consideration collar (early exploration), training collar (established dynamic, active learning), formal collar (full commitment). Some dynamics use day collars (subtle jewelry wearable in public) versus scene collars (heavier, often with O-ring for leash attachment). Collaring ceremonies are deeply personal, range from private to community-witnessed.

Bratting: Brat: submissive who deliberately tests, provokes, or resists to elicit a Dominant response. Brat-tamer: Dominant who enjoys the push-pull dynamic and "earning" compliance. This is a style of play, not disobedience — both parties enjoy the game. The brat's provocations are invitations, not genuine defiance. Negotiation determines what provocation is playful versus genuinely disrespectful.

Punishment vs. Funishment: Disciplinary punishment: real consequence for real rule-breaking, not intended to be enjoyed. Funishment: playful "punishment" that's actually a reward — the brat acts up specifically to receive it. Distinguishing these keeps the dynamic honest.

Emotional Architecture: D/s at its best is a feedback loop of trust — the sub's vulnerability empowers the Dominant's confidence, which deepens the sub's willingness to surrender, which deepens the Dominant's sense of responsibility. The Dominant's authority is sustained by competence, attentiveness, and the sub's belief that yielding is safe.

5. #5Equipment & Environment

Keys: nipple, dungeon, leash, chastity, blindfold, latex, gear, clamp, playroom, bench, cage, rubber, toy, hood, leather, cross, corset, gag, plug, St. Andrew, collar, stockade, equipment, harness

   Enabled · Before character · Order 10 · 100%

   Equipment & Environment

Dungeon/Playroom Furniture: St. Andrew's Cross (X-frame): upright cross for standing restraint, limbs spread to four points. Spanking bench/horse: padded bench positioning the sub bent over with wrist and ankle attachment points. Stockade/pillory: neck-and-wrist capture frame, standing or kneeling. Cage: enclosure used for confinement play, pet play, or punishment. Suspension frame/rig: freestanding or ceiling-mounted for rope or harness suspension. Liberator-style positioning furniture: shaped foam for ergonomic body positioning.

Sensory Gear: Blindfold: sensory deprivation heightens remaining senses and enforces vulnerability. Gags: ball gag (standard), ring/O-ring gag (holds mouth open), bit gag, panel gag. All gags require a nonverbal safeword signal (e.g., dropping a held object, triple tap, specific grunt pattern). Hood: full sensory deprivation (sight, muffled hearing), intensely psychological. Ear plugs/noise-canceling headphones: auditory isolation.

Body Gear: Nipple clamps: adjustable clover, tweezer, or alligator style — pain intensifies on removal as blood flow returns. Chastity devices: cage (penis) or belt (vulva) preventing sexual stimulation/orgasm; keyholding dynamic gives Dominant control over the sub's arousal. Butt plugs: worn during scenes or daily as a protocol element. Spreader bars. Posture collars: tall, rigid, enforce head position.

Materials: Leather: classic, warm, molds to body. Latex/rubber: tight, restrictive, aesthetic fetish — requires dressing aids (silicone lubricant, talc). Neoprene: softer, hypoallergenic alternative. Steel: heavy, unyielding, temperature-responsive.

Hygiene & Maintenance: All toys/gear cleaned between uses and between partners. Leather: leather conditioner. Silicone toys: boilable. Steel: autoclavable. Porous materials (wood, unfinished leather) cannot be fully sterilized — designated to single user.

6. #6Edge Play & High-Risk Practices

Keys: needle, knife, fire play, fear play, rape play, breathplay, electricity, consensual non-consent, blood, violet wand, knife play, CNC, edge play, breath play, wax, electro, choking, piercing, branding

   Edge Play & High-Risk Practices

Edge play = activities where the risk of genuine physical or psychological harm is elevated, even with precautions. These require advanced experience, explicit negotiation, and acceptance that risk cannot be fully eliminated.

Breath Play/Erotic Asphyxiation: HIGHEST RISK activity in BDSM. No version is truly safe — blood choke (carotid compression), air choke (tracheal compression), and smothering all carry unpredictable fatality risk. Loss of consciousness can occur in seconds. Cardiac arrest can happen even after pressure is released. Many experienced practitioners consider this activity to be inherently outside SSC framework — RACK at best. This is the single leading cause of accidental death in kink.

Knife/Sharp Play: Using blades against skin — ranges from light tracing (dull blade, pure psychological) to cutting (drawing blood, scarification intent). Safety: designated sterile sharps, knowledge of anatomy (avoiding arteries, tendons, nerves), first aid supplies present. The psychological charge often matters more than physical sensation — the idea of the blade does the work.

Fire Play: Flash cotton (brief flame contact), fire cupping, fire fleshing (trailing lit alcohol across skin). Requires: fire safety equipment (wet towels, fire extinguisher), spotter, practice on non-human surfaces first. Alcohol percentage and application method control intensity.

Consensual Non-Consent (CNC): Pre-negotiated scene simulating non-consent. Extremely demanding psychologically for both parties. Requires exhaustive negotiation: specific acts permitted, safeword confirmation (must be unusual word, not "no" or "stop" since those may be part of the scene), emotional aftercare plan, debrief timeline. Both parties must be in stable emotional states. Not for new partnerships.

Electrical Play: Violet wand (low amperage, surface sensation — tingling to sharp spark). TENS units (muscle stimulation). Cattle prods and stun devices exist in extreme play. Rule: current should never cross the chest (cardiac risk). Avoid use on people with pacemakers or heart conditions.

Wax Play: Paraffin candles held at height (higher = cooler wax on contact). Soy candles burn cooler than paraffin. NEVER use beeswax (burns hot enough to blister). Avoid dripping near eyes, mucous membranes. Removal: peel or use a dull blade to scrape.

7. #7Psychological Play & Humiliation

Keys: degradation, name calling, slut, public, degrade, dehumanize, shame, pathetic, embarrass, exhibition, objectification, verbal abuse, display, worthless, humiliation

   Enabled · Before character · Order 10 · 100%

   Entry settings

   Psychological Play & Humiliation

Humiliation Spectrum: Light teasing/embarrassment → directed verbal degradation → objectification → dehumanization. The line between erotic humiliation and emotional abuse is consent and mutual enjoyment. Negotiation must be specific: which words are thrilling vs. which hit genuine wounds. Many subs have a "hot" humiliation kink (arousing in the moment) but specific words or themes that cause real psychological harm.

Verbal Dynamics: Degrading names (slut, whore, pet, toy, object, etc.) — each carries different weight for different people. Some find gendered slurs empowering in a reclamation context; others find them genuinely harmful. The Dominant's tone often matters more than specific words — contempt vs. possessive affection while using the same word produce very different experiences.

Objectification: Human furniture (sub serves as footrest, table, display piece), service objectification (the sub exists solely to perform tasks/provide pleasure), sexual objectification (the sub is treated as a body/holes rather than a person). The psychological appeal often lies in the relief from personhood — no decisions, no performance anxiety, pure function.

Exhibition & Display: Being seen in a vulnerable/sexual state — ranges from display for a partner's gaze to performance at kink events/dungeons to online exhibition. Public play at kink events operates under venue consent rules. Bystanders at vanilla locations cannot consent — public exposure in vanilla spaces is not ethical BDSM.

Aftercare for Psychological Play: Psychological play often demands MORE aftercare than physical play. Reaffirmation of genuine respect and care after degradation scenes is critical. The Dominant must explicitly dismantle the scene's frame: "You were incredible. I adore you. Nothing I said in scene reflects how I actually see you." Some dynamics use a specific transition ritual or phrase to signal the return to baseline.

8. #8Kink Archetypes & Specific Practices

Keys: foot worship, hunt, findom, service sub, service top, primal, role play, ruined orgasm, tease, worship, growl, little, edging, financial domination, daddy dom, puppy, pony, prey, age play, predator, DDLG, pet play, MDLB, caregiver, forced orgasm, kitten play, denial, orgasm control

   Kink Archetypes & Specific Practices

Pet Play: Sub adopts animal persona — puppy (playful, eager to please, trainable), kitten (aloof, affectionate on own terms, sensual), pony (discipline, performance, show/dressage framing), pig (degradation-adjacent). Gear: ears, tails (often via plug), collars, mitts/paw gloves, knee pads. The appeal is often the simplicity — shedding human complexity for pure instinct and affection.

Primal Play: Stripped-back, instinct-driven dynamic. Predator/prey chase scenes, wrestling for dominance, biting, scratching, growling, nonverbal communication. Minimal gear, minimal protocol — raw physicality. Often overlaps with CNC elements. The prey's resistance is genuine effort (within negotiated bounds), making the capture feel earned.

Orgasm Control: Edging: bringing partner to the brink of orgasm repeatedly without allowing release. Denial: extended periods without orgasm (hours, days, weeks) — builds desperation and psychological surrender. Forced orgasm: stimulation beyond the point of wanting it, often with restraint — overstimulation as torment. Ruined orgasm: allowing orgasm but withdrawing stimulation at the critical moment, producing a physically unsatisfying release. Chastity devices enforce denial physically.

Caregiver/Little (CG/l) Dynamics: DDLG (Daddy Dom/Little Girl), MDLB (Mommy Domme/Little Boy), and gender-neutral variants. The "little" adopts a younger headspace (not literal age — all participants are adults). Emphasizes nurturing authority, comfort items, structured routines, gentle discipline. The appeal centers on trust, safety, and the freedom to be vulnerable without adult expectations.

Service Dynamics: Service submission: the sub derives fulfillment from performing tasks, anticipating needs, and being useful — domestic service, body service, protocol service. Service topping: the Dominant performs dominant acts primarily for the sub's benefit/pleasure rather than their own — the "service" is providing the experience the sub craves.

Financial Domination (Findom): Power exchange expressed through monetary control. The sub ("pay pig") gives money/gifts to the Dominant, deriving submissive satisfaction from the financial sacrifice. The Dominant exercises power through the sub's financial vulnerability. Ethical practice requires the sub not be financially destabilized.

Worship: Devotional attention to specific body parts (foot worship, muscle worship, genital worship) or to the Dominant's persona generally. Ritualistic, reverential — the sub's pleasure comes from adoration and the Dominant's pleasure in being adored.

9. #9Safety, Consent & Aftercare (Detail)

Keys: RACK, aftercare, drop, hard limit, safeword, check in, sub drop, safe word, boundary, SSC, dom drop, red, limit, soft limit, consent, green, yellow, negotiate

   Enabled · Before character · Order 10 · 100%

   Entry settings

   Safety, Consent & Aftercare (Expanded)

Safeword Systems: Traffic light (most common): RED/YELLOW/GREEN. Numbered scale: 1-10 intensity rating on demand. Custom word: something memorable and scene-inappropriate (e.g., "pineapple"). Nonverbal: triple tap, dropped object, specific hand signal — MANDATORY when gags, hoods, or any speech-restricting element is in play. A Dominant who does not immediately honor a safeword has committed assault.

Limits Negotiation: Hard limits: absolute, non-negotiable boundaries. Not up for discussion, testing, or persuasion. Soft limits: activities the person is cautious about — may be willing to explore with the right partner, preparation, and conditions. Limits can evolve over time through trust and experience, but pushing someone's stated limits without explicit renegotiation is a violation regardless of the pusher's intentions.

Sub Drop: Post-scene emotional/physical crash. Can occur immediately or 1-3 days after. Caused by endorphin/adrenaline withdrawal. Symptoms: sadness, anxiety, irritability, fatigue, feelings of worthlessness, physical achiness, emotional numbness or hypersensitivity. Management: planned aftercare, check-in texts/calls in following days, comfort items, self-care routines. Knowing it's neurochemical — not a sign something went wrong — helps.

Dom Drop: Often overlooked. Dominants experience their own neurochemical comedown plus potential guilt, self-doubt ("did I go too far?"), emotional exhaustion from the hyper-vigilance of managing a scene. Aftercare is bidirectional — subs should check in on their Dominants too.

Ongoing Consent: Consent is not a one-time checkbox — it's continuous, revocable, and contextual. Consenting on Tuesday doesn't mean consenting on Friday. Consenting to activity X doesn't imply consent to activity Y. Consenting while sober doesn't guarantee meaningful consent while intoxicated. Consent under duress (emotional manipulation, financial pressure, social coercion) is not consent.

Vetting & Community: Kink communities (FetLife, local munches, dungeons) provide social accountability. References from previous partners are common and accepted. Red flags: refusing to discuss limits, mocking safewords, pushing for intensity escalation in early encounters, isolation from community, claiming "real Doms/subs don't need safewords."
