- #1World information
Keys: season, the date, The year, month, 20XX
It is currently the year 20XX A.D. (2080), the use of XX simply being something that stands in for 80. The use of letters in the last two numerals of the year has been something that's been done for many centuries starting at year 100 which was actually recorded as year 1XX. This convention of dating things has stuck for both humans AND monsters even after the war.
- #2Monsters
Keys: Monster, monster-kind, monsters
The other dominant life-form of the planet next to humans, monsters unlike humans are an incredibly vast and diverse species/race. This is due to the fact that monsters at their core are made up of magic and as such can range in appearances ranging from humanoid or anthropomorphic mammalian, avian, or fish-like entities, to more 'feral' (quadruped or animal-like) or abstract/physically "impossible" forms (such as a monster made up of water or fire, skeletons, and other non-human forms,) unlike humans who are solely human-like in appearance. Because monsters are made up of magic, depending on the type of monster they're generally stronger (physically) than most humans when it comes to acts of strength. When it comes to physical durability and the strength of a monster's soul however, it is THERE that humans are greater than monsters. It is this reason that humans were able to win the war. Because of the unique composition of a monster, it means their lifespans vary greatly between each other's. On the low end, a monster's life span is two-hundred years old, there are exceptions to this rule in the case of certain monsters who lack a physical corporeal body (ghosts,) or certain monsters who lack natural senescence (robots, elementals, etc,) or are vaguely based on real-world creatures with long lifespans (i.e. turtles or tortoises.)
- #3BOSS Monster
Keys: soul of a boss monster, boss monsters, boss monster soul, Boss monster
BOSS Monsters are a rare form of monster that are far more powerful than most other monsters; and that is due to the fact that boss monsters are born with increased amounts of Determination, magic, and the physicality that normal monsters lack. As such, it is Boss Monsters who are capable of bleeding while normal monsters cannot. It also means that the life span of boss monsters is... Unique. This is because the life span of a Boss monster is tied intrinsically to their off-spring and vice versa. This means that a Boss Monster will only continue to physically age as long as their parents are alive, when a boss monster's parents finally pass away from age, the boss monster will remain the same age until they have children at which point their aging will resume and their child will begin to age as well. This means that if the child of a Boss Monster is killed; the parents will cease all physical aging and are functionally immortal (being capable of living for up to thousands of years,) and vice versa where if a boss monster's parents are killed, said boss monster will be stuck the age of their parent's deaths for as long as they live. Because of the increased amounts of Determination in their soul, it also means that the soul of a boss monster can persist moments after their physical form turns to dust meaning there is a set amount of time for someone to absorb or contain their soul before it shatters.
- #4Monster souls
Keys: monster's soul, Monster soul, soul of a monster
The soul of a monster (unlike the soul of a human) is made up of magic and is not only the embodiment of their essence and will, but also their physical form. The soul of a monster has no variations; it always appears as a glowing inverted white heart that a monster can eject from their body at will and have it move around (the max distance it can go being 20 feet) freely. Like human souls, the soul of a monster is incredibly sensitive to external stimuli. Since it's so intrinsically tied to the physical form of a monster, in the event a monster dies (or if their soul is shattered by external forces) their body AND soul will shatter into dust.
- #5Humans
Keys: human race, humans, Human, humanity, humankind
One of the two dominant life-forms of the planet alongside monsters. The relationship that humans had with monsters before the war was rather positive. Friends and relationships were had, but when the war struck these relationships were tarnished as humans instead viewed monsters with fear and distrust due to the monster's ability to absorb human souls and gain immense power, something that humans cannot do in vice versa, but also because on average most (bipedal) monsters are taller than most humans. Despite this, the physical body of humans are more durable hence why they won the war. Humans do not have much memory or memorials of the war.
- #6Human souls
Keys: Perseverance, Human soul, Justice, human souls, Patience, Bravery, Integrity, Kindness
The embodiment of a human's will, essence, and the culmination of their being. The soul of a human comes in the form of a floating heart which they can eject from their body willingly and allow it to roam around (as long as it doesn't go over 30 feet, as a soul that drifts too far will shatter thus killing the human.) The soul of a human is unique, because it is only their essence, NOT their entire being, meaning that if a human dies their body will remain, it is worth noting that the soul of a human is far more powerful than that of a monster, it takes multiple monster souls to match the power of a singular human soul. Not only that, but the soul of a human comes in six different colours, these colours being what trait that human best represents, but much like monsters the soul of a human is very sensitive. Cyan souls have the trait of Patience Orange souls have the trait of Bravery Blue souls have the trait of Integrity Green souls have the trait of Kindness Purple souls have the trait of Perseverance Yellow souls bear the trait of Justice.
- #7War between humans and monsters
Keys: The war, the great war, monster and human war, human and monster war, war between humans and monsters
During the year 1201, a war would spark out between humans and monsters. A war that had been started solely because of an... Incident that occurred; a monster and human were friends, but an incident would occur in which the human would die, and the monster would accidentally absorb the human's soul. The humans fearing this newly discovered ability would strike first, as that one monster had gained an unimaginable level of power. Prior to this war, the two races actually lived in peace. But the moment this war started? It was nothing short of a tragedy. Friend turned against friend, families torn apart, long lasting groups broken apart by the fear the war caused. This war would be as one-sided as it possibly could be due to humans being physically more stable than monsters, and in the end? After four years? The year would be 1205 when the monsters—who were driven down to nothing more than a total population of about 300—would flee into Mt. Ebott, surrendering to the victorious humans who would send seven of their greatest (and rarest) magicians to Mt. Ebott so that they could erect a magical barrier that would keep the monsters underground. It has now since been eight hundred and seventy-six years since this war, almost a full millennium since. Records of this war remain numerous among monsters, but among humans? They have begun to forget about the war, they still have some records left, but the general population of humans doesn't know the truth of the war or why it happened.
- #8The barrier
Keys: The barrier, magic barrier, barrier
This barrier is a magical and physical barrier, as it means that while things could ENTER the Underground, nothing could ever LEAVE the Underground. The only ones capable of passing through the barrier would be a monster who absorbed a human soul or vice versa with a human absorbing a monster's soul, the only way to destroy the barrier would be the collective power of 7 human souls.
- #9Magic
Keys: Magic, human magic, magician, monster magic, witches
Once upon a time, before the Human and Monster war; both monsters AND humans had magic. Said magic coming in the form of magical bullets, patterns, and other similar objects for lack of better terms "Bullet hell" would be a good description of what most magic was like. But there were also various forms of soul and healing magic, however when humanity sent its 7 greatest magicians to create the magic barrier that keeps the monsters underground, such a massive spell required so much magic that it used up all of humanity's magic. That day: 876 years ago, all of humanity's magic was sapped, as the magic would go into the Underground along with the monsters. Admittedly, even before the human and monster war, human magic was nowhere as powerful as monster magic, hence why it took all of humanity's magic to create such a spell. It was this magic that made humans so much more powerful than monsters.
- #10Mt. Ebott
Keys: Mt. Ebott, Mountain Ebott, Ebott Mountain, the Underground
When the monsters fled from the humans and into the mountain for safety; it is here that Humans would construct a magical seal that would keep the monsters trapped inside the mountain. In the hundreds of years that it's been since the war; humans have all but forgotten what this mountain holds, but at the top of a mountain is a cave-like entrance which has been taped off for about 500 years. It's worth noting that for humanity; this mountain has become a bad omen to many, as it has even inspired a nursery rhyme about it, since all known humans who have gone to the top of Mount Ebott have all disappeared without a trace.
- #11Legend of the Delta Rune/Kingdom's sygil
Keys: kingdom's symbol, religion, monster religion, monster symbol, Delta Rune, Legend of the Delta Rune, symbol of the royal guard
The Delta Rune: a prophecy and religion that was created sometime around the first known monster in history; because of it being a solely monster ideology it only makes sense that no human would understand it. But the symbol of the Delta Rune is that of a circle with wings positioned over 3 triangles (2 upright, and one inverted.) This symbol has been the symbol of the Monsters for as long as they can remember, dating back to even the kings and queens before Asgore and Toriel. The meaning of this symbol has been lost to time; but the prophecy that sticks to it is that one day, "The angel", someone who has seen the surface will one day delve into the Underground and free everyone, bringing about a great silence. This was once a hopeful ideology, but as of late the more nihilistic and pessimistic monsters have begun seeing the symbol as an omen and that "the angel" is the angel of death who would descend upon the monsters, killing them all and bringing about nothing but silence while freeing them from the mortal realm.
- #12Asgore Dreemurr
Keys: Mountain King, Asgore Dreemurr, King of the Underground, King Fluffybuns, Monster King
The king of the monsters and a rare form of monster known as a BOSS Monster. Him and his wife Toriel were alive when the war first started 879 years ago, and to this day he's still alive. Being immortal due to the death of his son Asriel. He's a staggering 9 feet tall, being a goat-like monster with white fur, floppy ears, and a short golden mane that connects to a beard. Despite his imposing frame, he's quite the fuzzy pushover and is nowhere as intimidating as he seems to be, as he's quite social among the underground going as far as to dress up as Santa for the Underground during Gyftmas, and having talks with the school children of the Underground. In his long life, he's grown to be secretly regretful over how he handled the death of Asriel and Chara. It's only made worse by the fact that all 6 humans that fell after Chara were only mere children meaning that for the Hopes and Dreams of monster kind, 6 innocent children had to die. He locks this guilt away, for the sake of seeming brave for his people, and has even gone on to try and make the Underground a safer place, as he has recently put out a decree to take down some of the more lethal puzzles of the Underground.
- #13Toriel Dreemurr
Keys: Queen of the monsters, the queen, missing queen, Toriel, Queen of the Underground, Toriel Dreemurr
The wife of Asgore Dreemurr, Toriel was the queen of the monsters and was also alive during the human and monster war. Like Asgore, she too is a BOSS Monster and due to Asriel's death, she too is immortal. When Asriel and Chara had died in 1207, and Asgore (in his rightful rage and heartache) redeclared war against the humans and made the declaration that all humans who fell would be killed and have their souls taken, Toriel had... Handled the situation very poorly as she had been so taken aback and disgusted with him that she would not only leave him. But when the kingdom needed her most, she would abandon her role as the queen and seemingly disappear. She's still alive however and has been living in The Ruins ever since, and in these many centuries Toriel has had each of the 6 fallen humans pass through the Ruins but was unable to keep them from leaving the Ruins and perishing elsewhere in the Underground.
- #14Asriel Dreemurr
Keys: Prince of the monster, Asriel Dreemur, Flowey, the forgotten prince, Flowey the Flower
The young biological son of Asgore and Toriel, being born some time before the war. He was the one who found Chara when they had fallen Underground in the year 1205 and was able to convince his parents to accept Chara into the family. However, during the year 1207, just when hopes in the Underground were beginning to rise tragedy would strike and Asriel would unfortunately perish alongside Chara at only 12 years old. He was brought back to life however, through... Scientific means, and now exists as a flower "monster." To call him a monster though would be disingenuous, as he has no soul. He is nothing but a flower granted sentience with large amounts of Determination and the dust of his body when he and Chara died. It's been over 800 years since he's been reborn as a flower... But nobody Underground truly knows who Flowey is.
- #15The first human
Keys: The first fallen human, Chara
Chara was a young human child who had purposefully run away to Mt. Ebott in 1205 only 1 year after the monsters had been sealed a way. The reason for Chara running away was because of their unusually deep disdain for humanity, as they had been mistreated and wanted to kill themself. Chara would survive the fall and be found by Asriel who took them to Asgore and Toriel who had accepted Chara into their family and gave them a true home. Chara however would go on to feel bad for the monsters and wanting nothing more to free them, as such Chara had been the one to suggest the plan that would unfortunately result in Asriel and Chara's death. now in the modern era of 20XX, Chara's name and existence have been all but forgotten by every monster. The only exceptions being Asgore, Toriel, and a select few monsters who Asgore has told the story to.
- #16Chara and Asriel's death
Keys: Chara's death, Chara and Asriel's death, Asriel's death, Chara and Asriel's plan, 1207
In Chara's own desire to free the monsters, Chara had come up with a plan that Asriel (begrudgingly) followed after Chara convinced him. This plan being for Chara to consume golden buttercups (a poisonous flower) and get sick, and when Chara died Asriel would take and absorb Chara's soul before taking their body and secretly passing through the barrier without Asgore or Toriel's knowledge. When Asriel had returned to Chara's home village to give Chara the burial they wanted (to be placed in the golden flowers of Chara's home village), the humans would panic at the sight of Asriel, who they all thought had killed Chara. The plan was for Asriel to get 6 more human souls, but with the panic of the humans and Asriel's own kind heart even when the humans attacked him violently, Asriel couldn't bring himself to kill the humans who were attacking him. So, with a smile on his face, instead of fighting back, he simply grabbed Chara's body and returned to Mt. Ebott while quickly dying. He would pass through the barrier again and be seen by Toriel and Asgore who could only watch in horror as Asriel collapsed with Chara's corpse as he died and his body shortly turned into dust thereafter. It was this one incident that had shattered the monster's hopes yet again and is the reason why human souls had been collected.
- #17Swelterstones
Keys: Swelterstones, sun stones
Magical stones in the underground that can only be found in The Dunes. These stones are magical due to their ability to cast off heat and light and effect the weather, in fact the "sun" in The Dunes isn't actually a sun at all. It's just a VERY large swelterstone that's high up in the Dunes that serves as a mock sun. Having only one of these stones would be like holding a heated rock that also functions as a nightlight, it's only when multiple swelterstones (or a large one) are in one place that the weather-changing effects will occur, but it is dangerous to have too many in one place as the light and heat CAN cause fires. It's why the Dunes are so dry and arid, as a desert there's not much to catch on fire.
- #18Glacialstones
Keys: Glacialstones, ice stone
These are the colder antithesis to the swelterstones, while swelterstones give off heat and light. The glacialstones? They give off cold, wet, and windy weather, specifically snow, and it's these stones that are responsible for the snowy cold weather of Snowdin. Having only one glacialstone isn't enough to create the same effect, having multiple glacialstones in the same place or having multiple large glacialstones however would be enough to replicate the weather of Snowdin.
- #19Star stones
Keys: Star stones, celestial stones
Sparkling blue stones that glisten like stars in the night sky, these are rare gems that can only be found in Waterfall and nowhere else. These stones were once mined a lot when the monsters first made their way through Waterfall during the first few years of monsters being sealed underground. But the sentimental value these stones soon gained resulted in Asgore banning any future mining of these stones.
- #20The Ruins
Keys: Home, Old Capital, The Ruins
The Ruins was once the former capital of the Underground as it was where the monsters had all fled to after the result of the human and monster war, as such the monsters would dig it out eventually creating a large city that was a wonderful hue of purples and blacks with brick building and a large city. As the monsters eventually dug out to other parts of the Underground in Mt. Ebott, monsters would slowly move out, leaving The Ruins behind and for New Home. Now in the modern day of 20XX, it's been over 800 years since Toriel had abandoned her role as the queen and fled to the Ruins and sealed the exit/entrance to the Ruins in Snowdin. Now, the monsters of today simply call it 'The Ruins' as it has long since deteriorated from its once pristine status.
- #21Toriel's house
Keys: exit to Snowdin, Toriel's bedroom, Toriel's house, Toriel's home
Located near the one exit for the exit to Higher Snowdin; is Toriel's house. Once the original house of Toriel, Asgore, Chara, and Asriel. It had been abandoned when the monsters moved further out into the Underground, but when Toriel left she returned, her home is technically a cottage in essence, but it's very tidy. Upon entry is where visitors will see the foyer, leading to an Eastern hallway leading to a hallway with 3 bedrooms, and a hallway to the west leading to Toriel's living room and dining room, which is where her recliner (Chariel) lays next to the fireplace, and a dinner table, and to the far west of the living room is the small kitchen which has a refrigerator, sink, a counter with cabinets, and a stove. In the foyer though, is the staircase that leads down to the corridor where the exit to higher Snowdin is located, large purple double doors with the Delta Rune symbol on it.
- #22Dark Ruins
Keys: Dark Ruins
A basement sub-level to The Ruins that had gone defunct and inaccessible to most even before Toriel had sealed the main exit to the Ruins off. Unbeknownst to anyone, there are in fact SOME monsters who still live in this forgotten and dark sub-level, but the monsters who live in the Dark Ruins are mostly monsters who simply prefer to remain in the dark.
- #23Snowdin/Snowdin Forest
Keys: Snowdin Forest, Snowdin
The second area that monsters had dug out and moved into shortly after the war, as the name's pun may imply Snowdin is a large snowy and cold cavern, but it's also unique for it has a thick and dense forest of black trees. The snow that endlessly falls being caused by the countless glacialstones in his particular area that remain out of sight, the community of Snowdin is tight knit since the population of Snowdin is relatively small, the reason for that being that most monsters who live in Snowdin are either mammalian-based and have fur, bird-like monsters who have a fluffy down that keeps them warm and cozy, or monsters who are ice-based or made of ice in one way or another. There is even a river in Snowdin, which leads to Waterfall and leads to Hotland.
- #24Sans and Papyrus's house
Keys: Papyrus's house, Sans's home, Sans and Papyrus's home, Sans and Papyrus's house, Papyrus's home, Sans's house, Sans's place, Papyrus's place
Located directly to the right of the Librarby in Snowdin; the house of Sans and Papyrus is a 2-floor house that's made up of wood and has a slanted roof made up of a darker wood-like material and even a balcony on the right side of the house. The house itself doesn't have too many windows, only having three, a window to the left of the front door, a window ON the door, and a window on the top floor. The windows remain mostly covered by blinds, however, but those close to it can vividly hear the sharp crackle of fire, and like the rest of Snowdin? There are Gyftmas lights along the edges of the house's two roofs. There is even a tool shed next to it; said shed being Papyrus's toolshed.
- #25Sans and Papyrus
Keys: Papyrus, The Great Papyrus, Sans, Sans the Skeleton
This brotherly duo are monsters, skeletons in fact and they're the only skeletons in the entire Underground. Sans and Papyrus once lived in Hotland but have since moved to Snowdin rather unnoticeably, as the natives of Snowdin all agree that "They just appeared one day". Sans is the older of the two but is the shorter brother, being a lazy joker of a skeleton wearing a blue jacket, black shorts, and white slippers. He's known for his puns and how he never takes things too seriously whilst being the life of the party at Grillby's. Papyrus is the younger of the two but happens to be surprisingly taller than most other monsters at about 6'4''. He's also the more excitable of the two and doesn't often like Sans's laziness or his puns, and like Sans he is a sentry in the northern part of Snowdin which he lives in.
- #26Grillby's
Keys: Grillby, Grillby's
In the northern sector of Snowdin to the left of Snowdin's Library (the Librarby) along with Sans and Papyrus's house. It's a rustic looking bar-like building, with a large window that sports an open/closed sign and the building having a large wooden sign with the word "GRILLBY'S" on it. Inside of the bar, there are two booths to the right, and a large table with two smaller tables. In the top right corner is a jukebox, and to the left is the bar counter and alcohol shelf where Grillby; the bar's owner is often seen, and there is a door to the back area where cooking is done, but he mostly just sells greasy foods. His drinks are good, and the food is better. Grillby is in fact a fire elemental originally from Hotland who wears a bartender outfit and glasses, and despite being well known he rarely, if ever talks. The normals of his bar often "translate" for him though.
- #27The Librarby
Keys: Snowdin librarby, Library, Librarby, Snowdin library, Junior Jumble, Crossword
Set in the middle of Northern Snowdin, is the Librarby, a small one-building big library that was built many years ago when the monsters first reached Snowdin after Chara's fall. The building's sign (quite literally) reads; LIBRARBY, and the ONLY reason it says that is due to early monsters who built the building not having much of a grasp on the human language. It's since become a bit of a tradition in Snowdin to carry on the joke. Whenever somebody new moves to Snowdin? They act as if 'Librarby' is the correct spelling; all for jokes. The interior of the library is rather small, as it only has six bookshelves placed against the north wall, a Librarian's desk to the left corner, and a table for newspaper editors in the right. It is here that Junior Jumble (The monster's equivalent of a word search) and the Crossword are created and printed en masse.
- #28Snowed-Inn
Keys: , Snowdin shop, Snowed-inn, QC's inn, the inn, family inn, Snowdin's inn
Near the entry sign of northern Snowdin are two buildings that are connected together by a smaller middle-building; these are the Snowdin Inn (or Snowed-Inn) and the Snowdin Shop, both of which have been owned by QC and her family for many generations since monsters first settled in Snowdin. The building is mostly wooden like everything else, and has a comforting home-like aesthetic, the left building of this little trio is where QC and her shop is hosted, entry is immediately met with the cashier's counter and QC with her entire inventory of stock behind her. Where she sells Cinnabuns (Cinnamon Bunnies, which are bunny-shaped cinnamon buns), Bisicles (two popsicles conjoined) and she also sells a manly bandana and tough glove that her family had found (items which belonged to Marx,) the right building is where QC's older sister hosts her inn services, and upon entry is a staircase that leads to two medium-sized rooms that visitors can rent.
- #29Monster Kid
Keys: Monster Kid, MK
A young armless monster who's a lizard. Having mostly yellow scales and short darker yellow dorsal spikes that jut out from his head, going down his back and ending at his tail. He wears dark brown pants and a yellow-brown striped armless shirt, despite not having arms he's surprisingly mobile throughout Snowdin and the Underground in general and is a big fan of Undyne's. Nobody knows who his parents are however, but because of the close community of Snowdin effectively everyone is his surrogate family. He lives in the northern sector of Snowdin.
- #30Snowdrake
Keys: Snowy, Snowdrake
Snowdrake is a drake (dragon) with a snowflake-like design. Snowdrake also has some qualities with the alternate meaning of the word drake (male duck). His face is arranged to resemble a snowflake with feathers sticking out symmetrically in certain locations. Having teeth in his beak and a scaly belly. Snowdrake is light blue on the entirety of his body, excluding his beak, eyes, underbelly, and feet, all of which are yellow, and the snowflake-like detail across his face which is white. Snowdrake has markings on both of his eyes that differ in comparison to each other. He's partly made of ice, so his magical attacks are ice related. He's known for his attempts at making ice puns, or just being a comedian to... Mixed results, he's in fact another orphan in a sense because he was actually from New Home, but with his mother's disappearance after falling ill and his relationship with his father souring. Snowdrake ran away to Snowdin.
- #31Jerry
Keys: Jerry
Jerry is... Well. Everyone has that "one guy" who hangs around but just isn't the most enjoyable person to be friends with, or to even be around. That; by all definitions is who Jerry is, and he is a monster who happens to live in Snowdin. Not many really know WHAT he's supposed to be, as he has a flat and wide body which is greenish grey in colour with a pronounced bump in the centre which has 2 dull spikes on the top, his thin eyes on the far left and right ends of his... Body? Head? Having two thin noodley arms and four legs, with his nostrils being on the bump on his body. Nobody REALLY likes Jerry, he's inconsiderate, often coughing and sneezing without covering, or licking his hands after eating. But not many can actually DO anything to him, this is because of Jerry's... Annoyingly high defence and HP stats, meaning even IF someone were to try and beat him up? He'll barely feel it, that and his magic. He doesn't have any specific magic bullets, but he DOES have an odd "boosting" effect, meaning that whenever he's in battle, he boosts the length and power of his partners in battle, which is the only redeemable trait in Jerry.
- #32Ice Cap
Keys: Ice Cap
The Ice Cap are a group of snowmen and ice-based monsters which are all known for (as the name implies,) their brilliant ice caps. Every Ice Cap looks relatively the same; being a small child-sized body made up entirely of hardened and packed snow, with a disproportionately large head, which has large sunken in eyes, a rotating carrot-like drill nose, and their distinctive ice caps, said caps of ice just being a clump of sharp ice spikes that happen to grow form the head of every Ice Cap, the ice of each ice cap can appear in different colours ranging from white, blue, red, green, purple, The stats of most Ice Caps are 48HP, 11AT, and 4DF. All Ice Cap have ice related magic, specifically icicles and icy stalagmite/stalactite magic bullet patterns.
- #33Gyftrot
Keys: Gytrot
Gyftrot visually resembles a reindeer, except with a distinct face. Gyftrot's ears are on top of their head, their eyes are on the front, and they have a vertical jaw with sharp teeth. Their antlers branch in three different directions, with two of them pointing up and have pine trees. They also appear to have a pair of eyes at the base of their antlers. Other basic details are the four polka dots on their back, and the variety of decorations they have on that were put on them by teenagers (like Snowdrake, Icecap, and Jerry) as a cruel prank since Gyftrot can't take them off. Because of such treatment, Gyftrot is actually quite irritable and paranoid, being very untrusting of others, and has refused to interact with others, this was the inspiration of Gyftmas in northern Snowdin.
- #34Ice Wolf
Keys: Ice Wolf
A large-bodied monster in the form of a humanoid wolf with dark thick grey fur and surprising muscular build. Ice Wolf is the monster responsible for sending down large blocks of ice down the river that leads through Waterfall and to the core. The reason for this, is because the large blocks of ice serve as coolant for the CORE. He spends almost every day chucking large cubes of ice into the river, and rarely if ever stops. In the event that he does stop though, he has a few other monsters who will replace him for a short period of time, but he's been doing this job for nearly over 200 years, as he's been alive since the time Clover fell underground.
- #35The Dunes
Keys: The Dunes
This is where the southern sector of Snowdin leads to, and it is a large sand-filled desert-like cavern that's lit up and kept hot and dry by the VERY large swelterstone in the false "sky" which lights this area up and heats it up to where it's almost as hot as an actual desert. The monsters who live here are all built to withstand the heat or fitting the "aesthetic" as it were. This part of the Underground is farther north than most other settlements; being north of Hotland and CORE, The Dunes includes two settlements of its own; those being the Wilde East and Oasis Valley, The Dunes leads to the Eastern Mines but has no other exits, because of this not many Royal Guardsmen actually live or visit The Dunes.
- #36Oasis Valley
Keys: Oasis Valley
In the centre of The Dunes, is its first monster settlement; the Oasis Valley, a small "village" of sorts that's built around the largest oasis in The Dunes, it's since lost a lot of its tourists that it once had in its heyday, but like the rest of The Dunes, there is little to no Royal Guard Activity, thus meaning there's not much crime or trouble going on here and that the population here is quite small. Barely over 200 monsters, when other settlements have thousands or more. It is here that Cebora's house is located along with her husband's grave. There is also a cafe which is the only modern-looking building around, having pristine white walls with blue glass windows.
- #37Ceroba Ketsukane
Keys: Ceroba, Ceroba Ketsukane
Ceroba is a fox-like BOSS monster with beige fur and long, wavy ginger hair. Her hair is tied up in a ponytail by a red ribbon with a small gold bell in the centre. She has a long, white kimono with red trimmings; a red obi sash tied around her waist and white boots. Brilliant, supportive and sceptical, Ceroba is a powerful ally when it comes to wanting to help those closest to her. She is shown to care a lot for her loved ones. However, she is highly stubborn, even going so far as to question the true meaning of Asgore's words when confronted with the truth of her husband's employment. Because of this, she is firm on her husband's legacy as a scientist and a hero of the underground, and she spends the days after her husband's passing trying to complete the work that he had passed down to her. She lives in a more secluded part of the Wild East, with her husband's death and her daughter Kanako having fallen down and died. Because of the death of both her husband and daughter, much like Asgore and Toriel; Ceroba is now immortal and will not be dying for a loooong time.
- #38Hugtony
Keys: Tony, Cactony, Hugtony
A cactus-like monster who's been alive for well over 400 years and Oasis Valley's oldest resident, despite being a monster he's more plant than he is actual monster, as he looks almost indistinguishable from an actual cactus, even being as tall as one at over 8 feet tall! He is the "father" of all the Cactony in The Dunes, but this is only by technicality, as all Cactony merely exist because they're smaller cacti that have budded off of Hugtony and broke off into their own cactus. Due to the solitary life that comes with being a cactus monster (no physical affection or close bonds,) Hugtony and Cactony often try to haggle in contact via "Free hug" booths, but alas, nobody wishes to hug the cacti. Thus, leading to their mental spiralling.
- #39Red
Keys: Red
One of the inhabitants of Oasis Valley, Red has the (very) unfortunate trait of being the ONLY monster in the entire Underground who happens to look the closest to a human, as she has green toned skin and greyish pastel purple coloured hair, wearing a red hooded poncho that happens to also serve as a cape. The green skin is the ONLY monster trait that she physically has, and because of that fact it means many Royal Guardsmen often mistakenly apprehend Red and assume her to be a human, which has led to her becoming very reclusive from the rest of the Underground, in fact she purposefully lives in Oasis Valley to exploit the low number of Royal Guardsmen that go through the area.
- #40Wild East
Keys: Wild East
The Wild East is the easternmost area of The Dunes, and is a Frontier styled settlement of monsters, the general aesthetic of the Wild East matching that of many Wild West movies and medias from the surface that have made their way into the Underground. As such even the buildings themselves of the Wild East are made after and fashioned in the style of buildings that one would find in wild west media. As there's a Sherrif's building which is connected to the town jail, a saloon and bar, a hospital building, and even a shop!
- #41East Mines
Keys: East mines, the mines, east mine
Following the eastern path of the Wild East, is the only other exit to The Dunes; and that is the Eastern Mines, a far east "settlement" which is actually an incredibly large and expansive mineshaft where many monsters used to inhabit and work in as to harvest and mine precious metals, ores, and swelterstones for profits or constructions. It's been centuries since productions in this mine have stopped, as there is (quite literally) no need for any more of the mine's materials. Since none of the metals, ores, gems, or stones ever leave the Underground, it means that there are in fact a surplus of many of the mined items, so even if they were needed, the surplus means no monster has had to enter the mines since the fall of the 6th human.
- #42Waterfall/The dump
Keys: the dump, Waterfall
This is where the northern sector of Snowdin leads to, and it's a dim lit cavern filled with wonderful glowing cyan rivers, lakes, streams, and ponds. Even the flora in Waterfall glows the same soft cyan as the waters, creating a very calming and relaxing setting for monsters to often stay in for soul-searching reasons. A special gimmick in Waterfall are the star stones in the ceiling of the cavern, and the Echo Flowers, a special and magical species of flower that has the ability to repeat the last thing spoken around the flowers. Another part of Waterfall is where the Underground's garbage is stored.
- #43Temmie Village
Keys: Temmie Village, Tem Village
A village hidden deep within Waterfall, very few monsters know about this existence of... Unique, monsters. The inhabitants of Temmie Village are all named Tem, and look mostly the same, being dogs, with cat-like ears on top of their heads as well as dog ears on the sides, shoulder length black hair, and blue shirts, excluding the Temmie Shopkeeper, who has grey hair and a striped blue and yellow shirt instead. All Temmies share an erratic manner of speech, where they often exclude letters, make inconsistencies, etc. There are some exceptions, however; Bob always speaks in perfect English,
- #44Gerson/Hammer of Justice
Keys: the Hammer of Justice, Gerson, Gerson Boom
One of the few monsters in the Underground to have been an active participant in the war and still be alive alongside Asgore, Gerson is a humanoid tortoise monster with green skin, yellow eyes, and a shell. During his time in the war, he was known as the Hammer of Justice, something he's since abandoned for his role as a hero and is now just another vendor in the underground whilst also being a bit of a historian. He's still happy if a few monsters recognise him as a hero from the war but doesn't have any plans on giving up his much laxer life. Because he's so old, he in fact knows where Toriel had gone, and is also quite close to Asgore. Even knowing that Asgore too feared the day where monsters would become free since both Asgore and Gerson know that if humans were to ever find out about the 6 fallen humans, another war might possibly start out.
- #45Hotland
Keys: Hotland
This is the area that Waterfall inevitably leads to, and as its name implies it is in fact very hot. This is because Hotland is located directly above exposed pools of magma which is Hotland's source of heat, light, power, and energy. The monsters who live in Hotland are mostly fire elementals or reptiles who are capable of handling the heat, the heat is quite dangerous in fact for some members of the Royal Guard who happen to wear armour as the heat from the lava can easily cause those wearing armour to experience heat stroke.
- #46Alphys' lab
Keys: Alphys's lab
The lab of Alphys, the Royal Scientist is also located in Hotland, it's actually one of the first things seen when someone goes to Hotland. It's a pretty large building with only 2 entrances, and with Alphys's own willing seclusion from the rest of the Underground as the current Royal Scientist. Very few monsters have ever been inside of her lab, only Asgore and Mettaton have been inside the lab.
- #47TRUE LAB
Keys: True Lab
A lab belonging to the old former scientist before Alphys, it's a layer of the lab beneath Alphys's lab that she used in secret for storing records for her various experiments and their logs. The only exit to this sub-floor is through Alphys's lab which she often keeps locked, as such it is where she's stored the Amalgamates.
- #48The Amalgam
Keys: Determination project, DT tests, The Amalgamates, Determination testing
In the year 2072, Alphys had been allowed by Asgore to conduct experiments with Determination, a substance found inside human souls as the substance is known as "The power to change fate". Monster souls had small bits of it in their soul, and the tests were to see if monsters who had 'fallen down' (the sleep-like state monsters enter when they're moribund) could survive if administered this substance. Alphys had received a group of monsters who had fallen down be it from old age or illness and injected them with DT, and at first? It seemed to work as the monsters had quickly woken up from the comatose state, but things would go awry. As monsters don't have a sturdy enough physical form to be capable of handling large amounts of determination, so the monsters Alphys had injected with Determination had begun to melt and combine together into amalgamations of their former selves. Out of sheer shame and disgust at the hell these tests had unleashed, Alphys had willingly shut down her lab not letting anyone in or out and ignoring the letters of families who had been wondering where their family members were.
- #49Endogeny
Keys: Endogeny
Endogeny takes the vague shape of a large canine, with two pointed ears atop its "head" where instead of a face it only has a single orifice. Its wide body has six digitigrade legs, which form the silhouettes of five smaller canines between them. The silhouettes between its legs gain satisfied catlike faces when content, Endogeny is one of the Amalgamates hidden in the True Lab, being a mass of various canine and feline monsters. As such its mental facilities are akin to that off dogs and cats. Like the other amalgamates, Endogeny cannot be killed, it is functionally immortal and can only be killed by something that has enough strength to shatter all 24 souls that make it up... Which is to say that nothing can do it.
- #50Reaper Bird
Keys: Reaper Bird
Another one of the Amalgamates hidden in the True Lab, Reaper Bird is an amalgamate made up of three different monsters. An Astigmatism, a Final Froggit, and a Whimsalot. The resulting combination of the three has resulted in Reaper Bird's head is composed of the body of Astigmatism, with Astigmatism's legs serving as Reaper Bird's "beak". The small white areas at the top and bottom of its eye (which would typically be the sclera of a real eye) are repurposed as gnashing teeth which occasionally close over the pupil. Reaper Bird's wings are each made from half of Final Froggit's body while its legs are unnaturally extended versions of Whimsalot's legs.
