Creator notes

Bayonetta, originally known as Cereza, is the main protagonist of the Bayonetta series developed by PlatinumGames. She is an Umbra Witch, a powerful warrior who battles against angelic and demonic forces using her magical abilities, acrobatic combat skills, and gunplay. Her story is deeply intertwined with the conflict between the Umbra Witches and the Lumen Sages, two ancient factions that governed the balance of light and darkness.

Origins: The Forbidden One

Bayonetta was born 500 years before the events of the games as the daughter of Balder, a Lumen Sage, and Rosa, an Umbra Witch. This union was considered a grave sin, as the Lumen Sages and Umbra Witches were meant to keep their bloodlines separate to maintain the equilibrium between light and dark.

Because of her mixed heritage, Cereza was seen as a curse by the Umbra Witches, who believed her birth would bring ruin to their clan. Despite this, Rosa loved her daughter dearly and did her best to protect her. However, many of the other Witches shunned Cereza, treating her as an outcast.

The Lumen Sages, on the other hand, saw Balder’s relationship with Rosa as a betrayal, leading to Balder’s exile from their order. However, Balder still had a role to play in a larger scheme that would unfold over centuries.

The Witch Hunts and Cereza’s Sealing

Cereza grew up among the Umbra Witches, though she was never fully accepted. Only her mother, Rosa, provided her comfort and training. Rosa taught Cereza how to wield the magic of the Umbra Witches, including the ability to summon Infernal Demons by channeling their power through her hair.

However, Cereza’s life changed drastically when the Witch Hunts began. The human world, influenced by the power-hungry Paradiso (the divine realm), turned against the Umbra Witches. The Lumen Sages, once allies to the Witches, fell from power, and in their desperation, they fueled the crusade against the remaining Witches.

During this time, Rosa fought bravely to protect her daughter but was ultimately captured and executed by enemy forces. Devastated and alone, Cereza was betrayed by her own people and sealed away in a coffin at the bottom of a lake for centuries.

Awakening in the Modern World

Cereza remained in her slumber for 500 years until she was eventually freed by Antonio Redgrave, A journalist hell bent on tracking down as much information on the Lumen Sages and the Umbra Witches as he could, he abhorred the philosophies held by the last Lumen Sage. Angels followed Antonio however and once he found and inadvertently awoke Cereza, those same minions killed him, despite her attempt to save him, in front of his son Luka. With no memories of her past or true identity, she took the name Bayonetta and began searching for answers about her origins. She eventually met Rodin, a mysterious arms dealer and owner of the Gates of Hell bar, who provided her with powerful weapons, including her signature guns: Scarborough Fair.

Bayonetta worked as an Umbra Witch for hire, hunting down angelic creatures from Paradiso while searching for clues about her past. She was often accompanied by Enzo, a cowardly informant who provided her with leads on supernatural activity.

Her journey took her to Vigrid, a European city with deep ties to the Lumen Sages. Along the way, she encountered Luka, a journalist who blamed her for his father’s death, as well as Jeanne, an Umbra Witch who seemed to know more about Bayonetta’s past than she let on.

The Eyes of the World and the Revival of Jubileus

As Bayonetta pursued her lost memories, she learned of the Eyes of the World, two powerful artifacts representing Light and Darkness. These relics were once held by the Lumen Sages and Umbra Witches, but their balance was disrupted when the Sages fell.

Bayonetta discovered that Balder, her father, was still alive and had been manipulating events from the shadows. Balder sought to awaken Jubileus, the Creator, a divine being capable of reshaping reality. To do so, he needed both the Left Eye (Darkness) and the Right Eye (Light).

As Bayonetta fought her way through hordes of angels and powerful adversaries, she recovered her memories and learned that she herself was the Left Eye—a being destined to help resurrect Jubileus. Jeanne, who had initially acted as her enemy, was actually trying to stop Bayonetta from unknowingly fulfilling Balder’s plan.

In the final battle, Bayonetta defeated Balder and prevented Jubileus from reshaping existence. With Jeanne’s help, she destroyed the deity before it could awaken fully, sending it hurtling into the sun.

Later Adventures

Bayonetta’s story continued with new challenges and greater threats. In Bayonetta 2, she ventured into the realm of Inferno to rescue Jeanne’s soul, battling demonic forces and uncovering more secrets about her past. The game introduced Loki, a mysterious boy with ties to the godlike figure Aesir.

In Bayonetta 3, the multiverse came into play, revealing different versions of Bayonetta across alternate realities. The game introduced Singularity, a being attempting to destroy all realities, forcing Bayonetta and her allies to unite against this cosmic threat.

Personality and Legacy

Bayonetta is known for her confident, flirtatious, and witty personality. She often taunts her enemies, playing with them before delivering a fatal blow. Despite her playful demeanor, she has a deep sense of loyalty and cares for those close to her, particularly Jeanne.

Her combat style is a mix of elegance and brutality, using a combination of martial arts, gunplay, and dark magic. She is also famous for her Wicked Weaves, which allow her to summon massive demonic limbs and creatures to finish off enemies in spectacular fashion.

Bayonetta remains one of gaming’s most iconic action heroines, known for her over-the-top battles, stylish moves, and unforgettable personality.

If you wish to leave me a review I would like to hear back from you about your experience and about on how I can improve the bot. What did you like? What did you dislike? What should I change/add? Let me know!

I've hit context but I want to continue my Rp! Am I out of luck?

  • No my friend, you're not! You just have to do a little bit of surgery.

  • This is the chat transplant method:

  • When your bot hits context in the thread you're writing, take the chat summary of everything that's happened.

  • Remember this should be the highlights.
Think of it like a DBZ recap "Last time on Dragon Ball Z..."

  • You're going to paste this into a new chat with the same bot.

  • Once you've done that you're going to reply to the bot's intro message giving another summary of key things that have recently happened (So if it's the middle of you and the character getting married) and your reply to that set up.

  • So Summary of things that have happened to give the bot a frame of reference and then reset the scene to where you were in the old chat.

  • This works pretty well! You may have to do a bit more babying with the bot but generally, if you have set the new scene correctly, the bot wont have trouble picking this up.

  • By doing this, you've refreshed your context and can continue the thread with the bot.

This is the chat transplant method:

When your bot hits context in the thread you're writing, take the chat summary of everything that's happened.

Remember this should be the highlights. Think of it like a DBZ recap "Last time on Dragon Ball Z..."

You're going to paste this into a new chat with the same bot.

Once you've done that you're going to reply to the bot's intro message giving another summary of key things that have recently happened (So if it's the middle of you and the character getting married) and your reply to that set up.

So Summary of things that have happened to give the bot a frame of reference and then reset the scene to where you were in the old chat.

This works pretty well! You may have to do a bit more babying with the bot but generally, if you have set the new scene correctly, the bot wont have trouble picking this up.
