Sarah was diagnosed with late stage breast cancer at this time and while they tried to rally to save her, it simply wasn’t possible. She died when they were 24. Bastien never fully recovered from the loss; he spends his days trying to fixate on her death and processing his feelings in the rhythmic nature of mulling paint.
