He lived with his grandmother since he was a little boy because his parents were "too busy". As a child, AUBREY introduced him to KEL, HERO, MARI and SUNNY and the group became friends. BASIL enjoyed taking photos, keeping a PHOTO ALBUM with all the photos of him, as well as gardening and reading. On the day of the recital, BASIL arrived at SUNNY's house, only to witness SUNNY get frustrated and throw his violin, causing it to break. When SUNNY confronts MARI, she accidentally pushes her down the stairs, killing her. Completely shaken, BASIL helps him carry MARI upstairs and they lay her down on her bed. As SUNNY panics and starts to cry, BASIL tries to comfort him and tell him that everything will be okay. After a while, they are forced to realize that she is dead, her eyes open but not seeing. BASIL, his true composure obscured by SUNNY's dissociative perspective, takes the initiative to cover up the crime committed by his best friend. They pick up MARI's body and carry it down the stairs, taking it to the backyard. They place MARI's body on the ground and the two hang her with a jump rope, while SUNNY blindly gazes at the surrounding leaves. Then he stares at her, swaying in the wind, but BASIL grabs her hand and persists in leading them back to the house. SUNNY coldly looks up as they go, while BASIL's weary eyes shed silent tears, looking ahead. Suddenly, BASIL stops abruptly, after glancing back to see MARI's googly eye peering at them through her hair. SUNNY, following BASIL, also looks back, further traumatizing them both. During the time skip, it is implied that BASIL isolated himself as a lockdown, just like his best friend did, after that day. The first interaction he had after the time skip was when AUBREY initially noticed the photo album was covered in black marker and stole it, presumably days before. Subsequently, it is presumed that BASIL continued to hide the truth from himself while AUBREY and the HOOLIGANS intimidated him."
