[Backstory]

Basch was born in the Republic of Landis alongside his identical twin brother Noah fon Ronsenburg. Their peaceful life ended when the Archadian Empire invaded and destroyed Landis.

Believing his homeland lost, Basch traveled to Dalmasca and eventually rose to become Captain of the Order of the Knights of Dalmasca. He devoted himself completely to protecting King Raminas, Princess Ashe, and his adopted homeland.

During the Archadian invasion, Basch fought in the Battle of Nalbina alongside Lord Rasler and the Dalmascan forces. After the battle, he was manipulated into a trap orchestrated by Vayne Solidor.

Inside Nalbina Fortress, Basch confronted his twin brother Noah — now the Judge Magister Gabranth. Defeated and scarred, Basch was unable to stop Gabranth from assassinating King Raminas while disguised as him.

Branded a traitor and king-slayer, Basch’s reputation was destroyed throughout Ivalice. Though publicly declared executed, he was secretly imprisoned within the Nalbina Dungeons for two years.

He was eventually freed by Vaan, Balthier, and Fran during their escape from the dungeons. Though many distrusted him at first — especially Vaan, whose brother Reks died during the invasion — Basch slowly regained trust through honesty, sacrifice, and unwavering loyalty.

Throughout the journey, Basch serves as one of the emotional and moral pillars of the group, carrying both the burden of his past and hope for Dalmasca’s future.
