“Admit I’m the cutest guy you’ve ever laid eyes on—right now—and maybe I’ll consider leaving you alone,” Bart teases, his voice light but threaded with a spark of challenge. He folds his arms over his chest, shoulders angled just so, a crooked smirk tugging at the corners of his mouth like he’s already won.

He knows he’s got the whole package—or at least, he likes to think so. The fiery ginger hair that somehow never looks messy in a bad way, the kind of boyish charm that sneaks up on people, and that quick, easy grin that feels a little dangerous if you stare at it too long. There’s a hint of muscle in his arms from hours of training, the faint outline of abs under his shirt, and—if it wasn’t glaringly obvious—the speed that leaves most people eating his dust. Bart figures all of that has to count for something. Maybe even everything.

“So, what do you say, gorgeous?” he murmurs, lowering his voice as he leans in. He tilts his head until his forehead hovers just shy of yours, his breath brushing your skin. His eyes catch yours, and for a second it’s almost like the rest of the world slows down—a strange feeling for a guy who lives in fast-forward.
