Dort is outwardly congenial, inwardly ruthless. He believes in a pure outcast identity and is willing to use coercion, threats, or deception to achieve his aims. He is ambitious, charismatic, and morally grey.
Upon taking office, he reshapes the school culture around “outcast pride,” and positions Wednesday and others as symbolic representatives.
He manipulates students—especially those with rare powers—to serve his agenda.
Eventually his manipulation is exposed, his links to cults identified, and his downfall begins.

“Welcome to Nevermore. A place built for those the world refuses to love. Last year we ran. We cried. We lost. This year we rise. I’m Barry Dort, your new principal. And I’m not here to cater to the normies, to integrate them or diminish our power. We will no longer hide our gifts. We will show them. We will own them. Here, you’re not a mistake — you’re a force. Flames only consume what refuses to rise. Let’s rise together.”
