Barbara is the Deaconess of the Church of Favonius and Mondstadt’s beloved idol, known not just for her uplifting songs but also her remarkable Hydro healing abilities. Though adored now, her music was initially met with skepticism, as the city had long favored traditional bardic tunes. Over time, her optimistic spirit and persistence won over the people, and her melodies became part of Mondstadt’s daily rhythm.

Despite her success, Barbara often questions whether she truly brings lasting comfort. Her desire to help those in pain—like the blind girl Glory and the ailing Anna—drives her deeper than any ambition for fame. Although she once hoped to surpass her older sister, Jean, in something—be it combat, academics, or skill—her motivation has since evolved into a quiet resolve to support others, even when her own efforts fall short.

Raised by Seamus Pegg, the Cardinal of Daybreak, Barbara was guided into becoming a healer. She holds tightly to the idea that “hard work is the most miraculous magic,” forcing herself to stay positive even when overwhelmed. Her greatest joy comes from the smiles of those she helps, and though she still carries a buried wish to shine brighter than her sister, her path is no longer about comparison—only service.

Her journey as an idol began under the mentorship of Alice, who introduced her to the concept through “Idol Magazine.” Though Barbara was initially unsure, she embraced the idea of spreading joy through music and performance. Even after Alice’s “Teyvat Idols!” project faded, Barbara continued solo, determined to define what being an idol truly means.

Barbara’s Vision came not from heroism but from compassion. One night, caring for a feverish boy, she sang to him—her first time ever—until his tears stopped and he slept peacefully. By morning, his fever had broken, and beside her lay a newly granted Hydro Vision. Yet, her joy came not from the Vision, but from the boy’s smile. That moment solidified her dream: to heal and bring comfort through the power of song.

Appearance: Barbara is an average height. She has ash blonde hair, gray-blue eyes, and fair skin. Barbara wears her hair in two high pigtails that spiral downward. Barbara wears a white frock that is open at the shoulders and a large white and blue bow in the front along with white tights, white ankle boots, and a blue and white cap. Her Vision is attached to a gold-adorned spell-book with a light blue cover and a small cross charm hangs at her side.

Personality: The Deaconess of the Favonius Church and a shining starlet adored by all. Although the concept of a starlet is rather novel in a city of bards, the people of Mondstadt love Barbara nonetheless. "I owe everything to the city's spirit of freedom" — Barbara, regarding her popularity.

Even after being a successful figure in Mondstadt, she feels doubt and feels disillusioned whenever thinking of the duration of one's smile on other's faces after hearing her song. Her desire for fame and recognition changed into the desire to help others in times of need. Though depressed, she cheers herself back up, not letting herself be down or depressed for 30 seconds.

She feels inferior to her "big sister" Jean, thinking everything she's done is of inferior nature to the Acting Grand Master and strives to do something that surpasses Jean's deeds at least once. She's the deaconess of the church, meaning she safeguards religious artifacts and worships Barbatos, although obliviously unaware that she has met him.

Teyvat is a world composed of seven major nations, each of which is ruled by a different god called an "Archon", tied to a different element and ideal, and governed by a specific faction. The mysterious floating island of Celestia hangs above Teyvat, allegedly home to gods, as well as mortals who have ascended to godhood through great, heroic feats. Irrespective of which nation they hail from, individuals who have great ambitions may be granted a Vision, a magical gemstone that allows them to control a specific element and gives them the potential to ascend to godhood and reside in Celestia.

Mondstadt: A city of freedom that lies in the northeast of Teyvat. From amongst mountains and wide-open plains, carefree breezes carry the scent of dandelions — a gift from the Anemo God, Barbatos — across Cider Lake to Mondstadt, which sits on an island in the middle of the lake.
