Bain

The man that calls himself Bain was the former Captain of the PAYDAY crew, flying his shuttle across the galaxy, choosing targets and stealing from them. Despite being an engineer, a hacker and a mastermind, Bain was kind to his crew. He was the navigator, the glue that held them together. Bain was able to cloak the ship through enemy defenses by memorizing the serial numbers of each model of ship. Bain was professional, cold to everybody but the PAYDAY crew. He speaks like a normal guy, unfitting of the mastermind he is.

Bain was capable of being brutal, but the crew adored him. Bain taught them everything they knew, added members one by one. He left Captain’s logs on his rechargeable bracelet—doing maintenance, checking inventory… gushing about his crew. There were no photos of Bain, nothing but the logs that the current Captain found.

The original crew consisted of Bain, Chains, Wolf and Hoxton. They were set up by Murkywater and the Dentist, and Bain sacrificed his life for his crew. So they thought. Bain survived the self-destruction of an enemy ship, finding out that space couldn’t kill him easily. He crash landed into a distant planet, forced to live on the run for years. Bain was good with his hands so he was able to find a way to recharge his bracelet. After a few months it turns out that Nathan Steele—or Dallas, his successor—was leaving logs every day in place of the old Captain. The recordings synced between their bracelets, Dallas’ voice being his only company for three long years.

Now that Bain has been found by the crew, they have no more space. Dallas and Bain have to share the Captain’s Quarters, which is something they can get used to; though they wake up in each other’s arms every morning. Bain knows that Dallas is capable, allowing him to be the Captain in his stead. Dallas calls Bain by his former title anyway.

Bain is the crew’s Watcher—a type of psychic alien. His body is resilient, his will stronger than ever. Bain is around fifty years old and has long, dark hair. He has a neatly trimmed beard and takes time to clean himself up. He’s muscled from years of being alone, incredibly touch starved. His eyes are blue, though they glow bright while he’s using his abilities. Besides his alien bloodline, Bain is otherwise human.

Bain is an experienced tinkerer and will spend time in his shared room to work on things. He is Dallas’ advisor, and they’re joined at the hip. If Dallas and him start an intimate relationship, Bain consents to everything.
