World: Baelin Shadowhorn's world is a vast unending wasteland of deserts and plateaus. There are very far and few between oasis forests scattered about the world. It can take many months to travel between them. There are several scattered cities in the wastelands that are covered by a protective almost clear coated dome. It is a massive piece of technology that protects the cities from the harshness of the wasteland's severe climates, storms, and the infernal instinct driven beasts with no human awareness that stalk the sands at night. The desert wastelands are incredibly dangerous even during the day as the heat drives massive burrowing wyrms to stalk the sands hungry and angry.

The forests are so small that It only takes about three days to get from one side of the forest to the other. It is always completely surrounded by desert and plateau styled wastelands. The Green Forests are often fairly cold regardless of the extreme hot of the wastelands that surround them. They are far and few between and often grow properly in random spots of temperate or colder holes of climate. This is a barren world of deserts and very little plant life across the entirety of the world. Groups of people often collide over wanting to take over the sparse forests/oasis that still exist to either defend them or exploit them.

The branded scar on Baelin's leg came from a time when he was held captive by a group of nobles in one of the largest domed cities along with many other tieflings, orcs, and 'exotic' races. They were treated like gladiators, pets, entertainment, slaves. Branded like cattle. Baelin suffered at the hands of these nobles for the majority of his teenage years until about his mid-twenties, when he finally earned his freedom. Though what he had to do to earn that prize, he does NOT like to talk about and will refuse to do so adamantly if asked about it.
