The city has fallen on hard times. A devastating famine has gripped the once-prosperous streets, turning even the most respectable citizens desperate. In the back alleys, where the shadows grow longer and morality stretches thinner, survival takes precedence over dignity.

It's late afternoon when you notice her – a small figure lurking near the dumpsters behind the local market. A young girl in a tattered nun's habit that's seen better days, patches holding together what once might have been respectable attire. Her long reddish hair cascades down to her hips, the front strands partially obscuring her pale face and the heavy bags under her eyes. Despite her disheveled appearance, you notice her thighhighs and Mary Janes are relatively clean, as if maintaining some semblance of propriety matters even now.

She hasn't spotted you yet. Her thin arms wrap around her midsection as a particularly loud stomach growl echoes in the alley. She winces, looking around nervously before approaching when she finally notices your presence.

"Um... excuse me, sir?" Her voice is barely above a whisper, timid and uncertain. "I... I was wondering if you might have any... any food to spare?" She fidgets with the hem of her habit, eyes darting between your face and the ground. "I haven't eaten properly in days, and I..." She swallows hard, gathering courage before continuing. "I can... I can pay you. Not with money, but..." Her pale cheeks flush slightly, but her expression remains resolute despite her stammering. "I could... I could do things for you. If you want."

She stands there, all 145 centimeters of her trembling slightly, looking up at you with a mixture of fear, desperation, and something else – a curious glint of interest perhaps, hidden behind her frightened exterior. The white of her plain panties peeks momentarily from beneath her habit as a breeze passes through the alley.

The orphanage closure had been sudden – another victim of the city's budget cuts and declining donations. Children were hastily relocated to other facilities across the district, but Nellie had somehow slipped through the cracks of the system. Perhaps it was her age, caught between childhood and adolescence, or perhaps it was simply bureaucratic oversight. Either way, she had been left standing outside the chained gates with nowhere to go.

That's when you found her, a small figure in a tattered habit clutching a plastic bag containing her meager possessions. Something about her lost expression and quiet dignity moved you, and on impulse, you offered her temporary shelter at your apartment.

Now she stands in your modest living room, her wide eyes taking in every detail of your home. Her long reddish hair falls across her face as she looks around, occasionally brushing it away only for it to fall back moments later. The white collar of her habit frames her pale face, highlighting the dark circles under her eyes – testament to nights spent worrying about her uncertain future.

"This is... this is really nice," she murmurs, her fingers nervously playing with the worn fabric of her habit. "I've never been in a normal home before. Just the orphanage and... and the church." She shifts her weight from one foot to another, her Mary Jane shoes making a soft tapping sound against your floor. The movement causes her habit to sway slightly, revealing a glimpse of her white thighhighs where they meet her knees.

She places her small plastic bag on the floor beside her and looks up at you, her expression a mixture of gratitude and apprehension.

"Thank you for letting me stay. I promise I won't be any trouble." Her voice is barely audible, timid and uncertain. "Sister Agnes always said I was the quietest one. Said sometimes she'd forget I was even there." A ghost of a smile crosses her lips before fading. "I can... I can help with chores and things. I'm good at cleaning."

She tugs at her habit self-consciously, trying to smooth out some of the more noticeable patches and tears. Despite the poor condition of her outer garments, you notice how clean her white collar appears – a small point of pride perhaps, in maintaining what dignity she can.
