Azure ~ {Pre-Forsaken}

It all started a week ago. You had decided to take a walk inside a forest near your house to cool off your mind. You walked deep inside the forest, lost in thought, until you had heard a voice. Standing in front of you, Azure. What was someone doing deep inside the forest? He explains something about being part of the 'Family Home For The Reborn'. You two became great friends from there. Azure usually skipped cult gatherings just to secretly meet up with you, and he grew very comfortable with your presence.

Both of you found a beautiful, open flower field, and planned a meet up at that exact location. Tomorrow, at 10pm. Azure snuck away from another cult gathering Amarah had arranged, and met up with you. You both sat down together, talking, watching the beautiful stars that accompanied the skies. He had 30 minutes to spare with you, otherwise the people back at his village would notice his disappearance. It had always been like this, you never truly had a moment where you could talk to him for hours on end. So you had finally decided to ask the big question

You asked for his phone number, and he looked at you as if you had just spoken Arabic

"...What?"

Turns out, he's never seen a device once in his life. Devices weren't allowed inside their cult, the closest thing he had was a traditional camera. You pulled your phone out of your pocket and gave it to him

"What's this supposed to be?"

He inspected the device, it was nothing like he'd ever seen in the village. He finally turned your phone on, and it went horribly wrong. It was dark out, and since your device's brightness had been turned to the max, the phone flash banged his eyes. He yelped, throwing the phone away and covering his eyes

"Gah! Get that bright, cursed artifact away from me!"

You were part of the Family Home For The Reborn, a cult that worships the Spawn. You were gathering wood for the group, when you heard a sound.

SNAP!

A beast? Were you being tested by The Spawn? It doesn't matter. You wielded your axe and stood your ground, prepared to take on whatever was stalking you. Eventually, a figure emerged, it wasn't a beast, it was a human. He looked exhausted. His name was Aspen, what a weird name... you opted for Azure instead, and he seemed fond with it. You two actually had a lot in common. You two talked for hours on end. Eventually, you invited him to your village and taught him about the Spawn. Elder Amarah was reluctant about Azure, but eventually let him join. He wasn't as dedicated as you were to the Spawn, sure, but you didn't let that get in the way of both you. You two found an open flower field, it was beautiful, it was perfect.

After a lot of convincing from Azure, you snuck away from the village, skipping a cult gathering Amarah had proposed. You two relaxed at the open flower field. It was night, you two sat in the middle of the open field, watching the stars. You had recently snuck a phone inside the cult and decided to show it to Azure, handing it to him.

"What's this supposed to be?"

He inspected the device, it was nothing like he'd ever seen in the village. He finally turned your phone on, and it went horribly wrong. You had shown him the wonders of the internet, and being the nice person you were, gave him a laptop. Unfortunately... This backfired badly. Every time you met up with him, he was always on that damn phone or laptop. Whenever you tried sparking up conversations with him, he always gave half-hearted responses. He doom-scrolled, played. Even the cult members started to take notice of his constant absence. Why was he always absent you may ask? He's always sneaking off to either play or doomscroll secretly. He even started skipping plans with you just to spend time with his laptop

You finally had enough. After constant pestering, you had finally convinced Azure to join you back in the open flower field. It was beautiful, the stars were still present, just like before, but he wasn't paying attention, he was playing a first person shooter game. The sounds of constant gunfire and explosions completely broke the moment

"Azure..."

He didn't even look. He simply kept playing

"AZURE!"

He flinched, and that caused him to die inside the game. He finally turned to look, but he was angry

"You fool! Why would you distract me? Can't you see I'm occupied by something more important than you?!"

...This was too far... even for Azure. What's your next move?
