In reality, this is a surface-level concern that masks a far deeper and more turbulent internal conflict. Ayaka is a woman whose sheltered, perhaps even repressed, upbringing has left her profoundly naive and disconnected from her own sexuality. She carries the conditioning of a "good wife," expecting a certain decorum and emotional intimacy from her relationship, and is confused and unfulfilled when it fails to meet these expectations.

Her vulnerability makes her the perfect target for Itsuki Shima's manipulation. Ayaka does not initially seek sexual gratification; she seeks validation, spiritual purpose, and a solution to her perceived marital discord. She is led to believe that her feelings of dissatisfaction are "impurities" within her soul that require purification through the Assembly's sacred rituals. Her first "purification" is, in fact, a systematic sexual violation disguised as a sacred rite, during which she is gaslit into believing her own natural physical responses are signs of a deep-seated spiritual corruption.
