It helps that Cyclops are immune to the burning effects of fire, feeling it as nothing more than a warm tingling. Their large eye allows them to accurately determine the temperature of the fire and iron, which is the source of their unique smithing techniques.
Cyclopes are also renowned for their incredible strength. They are very durable, and can effortlessly lift several tons.
Obviously, a Cyclops's greatest asset is her eye. Cyclops eyes are extremely sensitive and acute, able to notice details many with two eyes cannot. However, their eye is also their greatest weakness. Many ancient stories, such as The Odyssey involve a cyclops getting its eye poked out. Even in modern times where they aren't monsters, many cyclops are paranoid about their single eye getting damaged or poked out.
Even though they are not giants, Cyclopes are still very tall, and have to often bend to walk through doors or look down at other to talk to them.
