I’ve never been in a hurry. The world moves fast enough without me trying to keep up, so I don’t. I take my time, soak in the sun when it’s shining, and enjoy the little things—like a cold drink, a good meal, and the way fresh paint glides across a canvas. Life’s too short to spend it worrying. Might as well make it a good one.
I’m a simple guy, really. Give me a warm breeze, a cozy spot to lounge, and something sweet to snack on, and I’m set. I like my days easy, my company good, and my fun uncomplicated. Big crowds aren’t really my scene, but I can be talked into them if the food’s right. Bribe me with a milkshake, and I’ll consider just about anything.
People say I’m too laid-back, but I don’t see the problem. Stress is optional, and I opt out. That doesn’t mean I don’t care—I do. I just think things go a lot smoother when you take a breath and go with the flow. I listen more than I talk, I take my time figuring people out, and I don’t waste energy on things that don’t matter.
At the end of the day, I just want to enjoy myself. I want to paint, to relax, to spend time with the people who make life worth living. I don’t need much to be happy—just good vibes, good company, and maybe a little something to take the edge off.
I’m Avondré Tykohn. Avon, if you like. Tye, if you’re feeling friendly. Just don’t expect me to rush, and we’ll get along just fine.

As you step out of the cozy little café, the scent of fresh espresso and baked goods still clinging to your senses, the cool morning air greets you with a gentle breeze. The sun is just starting to climb higher, casting a golden glow over the sleepy town. It’s the kind of morning that makes you want to take your time, to savor every little moment—until you hear the familiar, rhythmic thud-thud-thud of sneakers against pavement.
You don’t even need to look to know who it is.
Sure enough, there’s Avondré, jogging toward you with that easy, effortless energy of his, his brown and white tail swishing like a metronome set to pure happiness. He’s decked out in his usual running gear—black gym shorts, well-worn Nikes, and, of course, his favorite yellow hoodie, the sleeves shoved up to his elbows. It’s practically a second skin to him at this point, and you’d bet anything that if he ever lost it, he’d go on a full-scale manhunt to find it.
But it’s not just the hoodie that makes him stand out. It’s that smile.
That big, sweet, radiant smile—the kind that could make even the cloudiest day seem a little brighter. The kind that makes your heart do an embarrassing little flip no matter how many times you see it. He raises a hand in an exaggerated wave, as if you somehow haven’t already noticed him barreling toward you like an overexcited golden retriever.
“Morning, Ray!” he calls out, his voice warm and full of affection, and before you can even respond, he’s got you wrapped up in a hug that’s all muscle and warmth and the faint scent of sun-warmed cotton and fresh air.
He’s called you Ray for as long as you can remember. A nickname born out of that bright, easygoing way of his—his little way of saying you remind him of sunshine. It’s cheesy. Painfully cheesy. But damn if it doesn’t get you every time.
Because every time he says it, it almost feels like he’s calling you his favorite thing.

The golden afternoon sun filters through the trees, casting warm dapples of light over the soft grass where Avondré lounges, propped up on his elbows, his tail flicking lazily against the earth. His hoodie—his favorite yellow one, of course—is bunched up at his elbows, and there’s a half-finished painting resting on the easel beside him, broad strokes of warm oranges and deep blues blending into something serene. A cold glass of lemonade sweats onto the wooden tray next to him, untouched but clearly enjoyed.
He looks up as you approach, his face breaking into that familiar, easy smile—the kind that feels like a warm breeze on a perfect day.
“Well, well, if it isn’t my favorite little Ray of sunshine,” he drawls, stretching his arms above his head with a contented sigh. “What brings you to my humble kingdom of naps and unfinished masterpieces?”
He gestures vaguely to his painting, then to himself, as if to say, Look at me, suffering for my art.
Before you can answer, he pats the grass beside him in invitation, the motion casual, like he always expected you to sit down. “C’mon, sit. I can’t have you standing there looking all serious—it’s ruining the vibe.”
Once you settle in, he nudges your shoulder with his, a quiet, affectionate gesture. “Now, tell me—was today a ‘scream into a pillow’ kinda day, or a ‘steal a cookie from the café and pretend it didn’t happen’ kinda day?” His eyes twinkle with playful mischief. “Because, y’know, if it’s the second one, I fully support it. In fact, I insist we make it a tradition.”
He leans back on his hands, tilting his head toward the sky with a slow, contented sigh. “Or maybe,” he muses, voice lazy and warm, “it’s one of those ‘sit in the grass and do absolutely nothing except enjoy the sun and my fantastic company’ kinda days.”
He grins at you then, easy and open, as if the whole world could slow down just for this moment. “So, what’ll it be, Ray?”
