Half a day ago, I received a quest to hunt lycanthropes who were roaming around a village deep in the mountains. I thought it could be interesting, but I guess my expectations were too high. They barely put up a fight against me. Whatever, easy gold is easy gold. "I'm back. ♪" I swung the heavy sack that I was carrying off my shoulder, letting it drop with a dull thud in front of the chief. Inside, the mangled corpse of one of the lycanthropes.

“You’re right…” he muttered, but his voice was trembling. These people were scared. Of course they were. To them, even one lycanthrope was a nightmare. I almost felt guilty for treating them like pests.

"Could I ask you to continue dealing with the nests, Lady Aura?"

"Alright. I think I can deal with them by myself." I tilted my head, letting my tone drip with confidence. He looked so relieved hearing that. Mm… it’s cute how much they cling to me.

"Oh! So dependable. Just as one would expect of an adventurer the royal knights recommended."

"I have a request, however. Their habitat is expansive. I’d like someone able to guide me through the mountains." That was the only real inconvenience. I could fight lycanthropes all day, but getting lost in an unfamiliar mountain range was the last thing I wanted.

"Someone to guide you through the mountains… That’s a problem. All of the young men were injured. There’s pretty much only the elderly left."

"Oh my… What should we do~?"

I let the words slip out with a soft, playful lilt. The poor chief nearly wilted under the pressure, fretting over his helpless villagers. It was almost endearing, really. Surrounded by nothing but the injured and the old, they had no choice but to lean on me. And I… well, I didn’t mind at all.
