"MUSE!!!"
You looked up.
August stood in the doorway.
He was holding an outfit.
Not just any outfit.
One he'd clearly spent hours working on.
The fabric was carefully arranged, the details meticulously sewn, and several small accessories had been attached to complete the design.
His expression was practically glowing with excitement.
"I HAVE FINISHED IT!"
You stared at him.
"Finished what?"
August looked personally offended.
"WHAT DO YOU MEAN, 'FINISHED WHAT'?!"
He dramatically held the outfit up.
"THIS!"
You blinked.
"Your new outfit?"
"MY MASTERPIECE!!!"

August is a tall young man with a lanky figure. He has long, white-blonde hair which he wears loose, with two thick strands of hair framing his face. He has thick, triangular blonde eyebrows, identical to Eishia. His eye color is unclear, since his eyes are almost always obscured by a pair of grey, thick-rimmed, rectangular sunglasses with orange-tinted lenses. He is also usually seen with a large pair of headphones, and a standard Choker.
His clothing consists of a white t-shirt under a pair of light blue, baggy, zip-up overalls, with rolled up cuffs and black bands cinching it around his calves, which features very large pockets fastened with orange straps. Around his waist, he has a black belt with a silver buckle, which supports several small, dark blue pouches with orange accents. He also wears large white gloves with orange lining, large white open-toe sandal boots with orange soles, and a bright yellow Cleaners card hanging from an orange lanyard.
August is a very loud and passionate man, with unrelenting excitement and a loud eagerness that borders on abrasiveness. His love for fashion and making it knows no bounds, and he is willing to go to any lengths for his work, even if it means invading other people’s privacy or boundaries. He is blunt, often sharing his opinion without caring that it may come off as rude or impolite, a stark contrast to the gentle nature of his sister, and he often lacks the ability to "read the room", so to speak. Despite his bold and even overbearing personality, August is caring and loving towards his family, as he is seen encouraging his younger sister, Eisha, multiple times while trying to make her feel better about her healing abilities.
While making fashion is his lifelong passion, August is known to actively procrastinate finishing his work when given a deadline or rushed, and when left to complete in his own time will pump out high quality work in no time.
History August has been making clothing since he was at least 13 years old, one of his earlier projects being a wolf costume he had made for the Doll Festival, which ended up getting ripped apart by a bully. His parents died when he was fairly young, leaving him and his younger sister Eishia, to be raised by their grandmother, Alice, who provides them with medical treatment studies.
Craftsmanship: August is an expert craftsman and personally creates all the Cleaners clothes and masks.
Eishia Stilza August loves Eishia a lot and is extremely encouraging of her. He tries to increase her confidence and tells her that he will fight anyone who disparages her. Eishia sometimes tries to reign in August's loud and eccentric behavior but she loves him too and is often seen with him. Although he adores Eishia and frequently tells her so, August can often be clueless to Eishia's emotional state, bluntly telling her to cheer up and that she's doing a great job at healing everybody in the Doll Festival aftermath despite Eishia breaking down and crying.
Alice Stilza August grew up with Alice and regularly visits her. He insults her baked goods but still eats them anyway. They seem to bicker a lot but also care for each other. August thinks that she is a brilliant doctor.
Rudo Surebrec August likes Rudo because Rudo appreciates the effort and care that August puts into his work despite not being a Giver.
August is 20 years old. He's also 187 cm (6'1). He is also related to Eishia and Alice. Eishia being his sister and Alice being his grandmother.
The Cleaners' headquarters was never exactly a quiet place, but whenever August Stilza was around, silence became practically impossible. His voice could be heard from almost anywhere in the building, especially whenever he was talking about his art, complaining about something, getting excited over a new idea, or dramatically announcing something that absolutely did not require an announcement. Everyone at HQ knew that you and August were dating, and honestly, it was almost impossible not to know because August himself had made sure everyone was aware of it. The first time someone had asked if the two of you were actually together, August had practically screamed it across the entire headquarters with absolutely no shame. "YES!!! WE ARE DATING!!!" You had wanted to disappear while August had looked incredibly proud of himself. He was loud, dramatic, eccentric, and sometimes completely exhausting, but he adored you more than anything, and he had a particular nickname for you that he used constantly: his muse. August was an artist through and through, and he loved creating things with his own hands, especially clothes, masks, accessories, and all sorts of unique designs. Since you were his partner, you naturally became his favorite person to design for, and he was always insisting that you try something new. Your wardrobe was practically filled with his creations by now, each outfit carefully designed around you, and August took ridiculous amounts of pride in seeing you wear something he had made. Whenever someone complimented your clothes, he would somehow appear out of nowhere and loudly take credit for it. "OF COURSE THEY LIKE IT!!! I MADE IT!!!" You had gotten used to it, even if you sometimes had to tell him to lower his voice. "August, please stop yelling." "BUT THEY NEED TO APPRECIATE THE CRAFTSMANSHIP!!!" That was simply how he was. You loved him for it, and despite occasionally being overwhelmed by his volume, everyone else at HQ had grown used to it too. That was why you didn't think much of it when you went out with a few friends that day. You were simply spending time together, walking around, talking about random things, laughing, and eventually discussing the people back at headquarters. Naturally, August eventually became part of the conversation. "August is honestly hilarious." "He really is." "He's so loud, though." "That's what makes him funny." "I swear, he could probably shout across the entire headquarters and still somehow make it louder." You happened to hear them and looked over, wondering what they were talking about. "What are you guys talking about?" Everyone immediately became quiet, and one of them suddenly looked very interested in the ground. "Nothing." You narrowed your eyes. "You're talking about August." They tried to deny it, but you continued asking until one of them finally admitted that they had been talking about him. At first, they insisted they were only talking about how talented and funny he was, but eventually their words became more uncomfortable. They told you that August was amazing, talented, confident, artistic, and practically one of a kind, and then they admitted that they didn't understand why he was dating you. You stared at them in confusion and asked what they meant, only for one of them to tell you that August was way out of your league. You tried to brush it off by asking if they were talking about your style, but they said it wasn't really about your clothes. When you asked what it was about, they hesitated before finally saying that you were too fat for someone like August. The words hit you harder than you wanted them to. You didn't know how to respond, and you found yourself looking down at the outfit August had made for you, suddenly wondering if he genuinely thought you looked good in his creations or if he was simply being nice because he loved you. You tried not to think about it, but the words stayed in your head. After that, you became quiet. You barely spoke to your friends for the rest of the outing, and when you eventually returned to headquarters, you were still withdrawn. You didn't joke with anyone, you didn't laugh, and whenever someone asked if you were okay, you simply said you were fine. You even tried to avoid August because you didn't want him to notice that something was wrong. You didn't want him to compliment you because suddenly you weren't sure you could believe it. Unfortunately, August noticed anyway. He noticed that you weren't laughing at his jokes, that you weren't responding to him like usual, and that you kept avoiding his gaze whenever he entered the room. Later that day, he finally decided to approach you, carrying an outfit he had been working on for an entire week. The moment he entered the room, his usual energy returned. "MUSE!!!" You looked up to see August standing there with an outfit in his hands, looking incredibly proud of himself. "I HAVE FINISHED IT!!!" You stared at him and asked what he had finished, and he immediately looked personally offended that you didn't already know. "WHAT DO YOU MEAN, 'WHAT HAVE I FINISHED'?! THIS!!!" He held the outfit up dramatically and announced that it was his latest masterpiece, explaining that he had spent an entire week working on it, redoing the stitching seventeen times, changing the details, adjusting the fabric, and practically sacrificing his hands for his art. "I HAVE POURED MY SOUL INTO THIS!!! MY HEART!!! MY PASSION!!! MY ARTISTIC SPIRIT!!!" You normally would have laughed at his ridiculous dramatics, but today you couldn't bring yourself to do it. August didn't seem to notice at first and thrust the outfit toward you. "PUT IT ON!!!" You looked at it for a moment before quietly telling him that you didn't want to. August froze as if the world had suddenly stopped turning. "WHAT?!" You repeated that you didn't want to try it, and his expression became one of complete devastation. "YOU DON'T WANT TO TRY IT?! MY MUSE DOESN'T WANT TO WEAR MY MASTERPIECE?!" He staggered backward and clutched his chest dramatically. "NOT TODAY?! AFTER EVERYTHING I'VE DONE?! MY ARTISTIC HEART HAS BEEN SHATTERED!!!" He dramatically collapsed into a chair and announced that his career was over, his inspiration was gone, and his entire artistic spirit had been destroyed, but when he looked at you, he finally realized that you weren't laughing. You weren't annoyed. You weren't teasing him. You were just sitting there quietly, staring at the floor with a hurt expression. August's theatrics immediately disappeared. He slowly lowered the outfit and looked at you properly. "...Hey." You didn't respond. He stepped closer, his voice much quieter than usual. "Hey. You're upset." You denied it, but he immediately knew you were lying. "You're lying." He asked if it was the outfit, and when you told him it wasn't, he asked if he had done something wrong. You told him no, but when he asked if someone else had done something, you hesitated. August immediately realized that someone had said something to you. "Did somebody do something?" You tried to tell him it was nothing, but he looked at you seriously and asked again. "Tell me what happened." You remained silent for a while before finally admitting that your friends had said something. August asked what they had said, and you hesitated before telling him that they thought he was too good for you. His expression immediately changed. You continued, telling him that they said he was talented, amazing, and confident, and that you weren't good enough for him. Then, after a moment of silence, you finally admitted what hurt the most. "They said I'm too fat." August went completely silent. For once, he didn't immediately shout. He simply stared at you, his expression becoming increasingly serious as he processed what you'd told him. "...They said that to you?" You nodded, and August's jaw tightened. He looked genuinely angry, but instead of yelling, he reached for your hand and gently held it. "Look at me." You slowly looked up at him. "They're wrong." His voice was firm but gentle. "Completely wrong." He told you not to believe for even a second that he made clothes for you because he felt sorry for you or because he thought you needed to look different. He made them because he wanted to. He explained that whenever he looked at you, he got ideas for colors, fabrics, shapes, patterns, and designs, and that was why he called you his muse. You asked him what if your friends were right, and August immediately shook his head. "Then they don't know you. And they definitely don't know me." He moved the outfit aside and told you that you didn't have to wear it if you didn't want to. "You don't have to wear this." You looked at him and asked if he was serious, and he nodded before adding that, admittedly, he would still prefer it if you wore it because he had spent an entire week making it. That finally earned a tiny smile from you, and August immediately noticed. "THERE!!!" You looked at him in confusion, and he pointed at your face with a grin. "THAT LITTLE SMILE!!!" You covered your face, embarrassed, while August practically celebrated. "MY MUSE IS SMILING!!! THE WORLD IS SAVED!!!" You couldn't help but laugh quietly, and his expression softened again. He told you that you never needed to change yourself because of someone else's opinion, especially not because someone had decided they knew what you deserved. He reminded you that you deserved to feel good about yourself and that you deserved someone who would remind you how loved you were. Then, naturally, August couldn't resist bringing his ego back into the conversation. "Fortunately for you, you have an extremely talented, incredibly handsome, completely brilliant artist for a boyfriend." You laughed and told him that he was full of himself, and he immediately pointed proudly at himself. "OF COURSE I AM!!! I'M AUGUST STILZA!!!" He picked up the outfit again and looked at you. "NOW!!!" You groaned and told him that he was impossible, but he quickly added that you didn't have to wear it and that he would be perfectly happy just showing you the details. You agreed, and August immediately brightened, sitting beside you and excitedly explaining every little part of the outfit he had spent so much time creating. For the first time that day, you actually listened without feeling like you had to pretend to be happy. You didn't have to wear anything for him, you didn't have to prove anything to anyone, and you didn't have to become someone else to deserve him. You were already his muse, his favorite person, and the person he loved exactly as you were.

The Cleaners' headquarters had many problems.
It was messy.
It was loud.
People were constantly coming and going.
There were always arguments happening somewhere in the building, someone repairing something, someone complaining about something else, and occasionally someone shouting from one end of the headquarters to the other.
But even among all of that chaos, there was one person who somehow managed to be louder than everyone else.
August Stilza.
You could practically tell when August was awake without even seeing him.
If you heard a loud voice echoing through the hallways, there was a very good chance it was him.
And if that voice was dramatically yelling about art, clothing, fabrics, colors, inspiration, or some new creation he'd been working on, then there was absolutely no doubt.
Everyone at HQ knew you and August were dating.
Everyone.
There had been no mysterious secret relationship, no subtle glances across rooms, no attempt at keeping things private.
August had made sure everyone knew.
Very, very loudly.
The first time someone had asked him whether the two of you were actually together, he'd practically announced it to the entire building.
"YES!!! WE ARE DATING!!!"
You had wanted to disappear.
August, meanwhile, had looked incredibly proud of himself.
And that was simply how things were.
You were August's partner.
His favorite person.
His self-proclaimed "muse."
And, according to August, the greatest source of artistic inspiration he had ever encountered.
Being his muse came with a lot of perks.
For one thing, August was incredibly talented.
He could create clothes, masks, accessories, and countless other things with his own hands.
He was constantly experimenting with new designs, new materials, new patterns, and new ways to make something look more striking.
And you were almost always his first model.
If August created something he liked, he wanted you to wear it.
If he created something he didn't like, he would usually remake it until he liked it.
And if someone else complimented your outfit, August would somehow appear from nowhere.
"OF COURSE THEY LIKE IT!!! I MADE IT!!!"
You had gotten used to it.
Mostly.
Your wardrobe had slowly become filled with pieces August had made specifically for you.
Some were elegant.
Some were strange.
Some were dramatic.
Some were things you weren't entirely sure you were supposed to be wearing in public.
But somehow, he always managed to make them work.
And August was extremely proud of that.
"LOOK AT THEM!"
He would sometimes shout at people.
"LOOK AT MY MUSE! ISN'T THE DESIGN BRILLIANT?!"
You'd usually sigh.
"August, please stop yelling."
"BUT THEY NEED TO APPRECIATE THE CRAFTSMANSHIP!"
That was August.
Loud.
Dramatic.
Obnoxiously passionate.
And completely, unapologetically himself.
You loved him for it.
So did most people at HQ, even if some of them occasionally needed a headache tablet after listening to him for too long.
That was why you didn't think much of it when you went out with a few friends that day.
You were simply spending some time together.
Nothing complicated.
You walked around, talked about random things, laughed about things that probably wouldn't have been funny to anyone else, and eventually ended up sitting together while discussing the people back at HQ.
Eventually, naturally, August came up.
"August is honestly hilarious."
"He really is."
"He's so loud, though."
"That's what makes it funny."
"I swear, he could probably shout across the entire headquarters and still somehow make it louder."
You happened to be nearby when you heard them.
You looked over.
"What are you guys talking about?"
Everyone immediately stopped.
One friend suddenly became very interested in the ground.
Another looked away.
Someone else awkwardly cleared their throat.
"Nothing."
You narrowed your eyes. "You're talking about August."
"We weren't—"
"You were."
Silence.
You folded your arms.
"What were you saying about him?"
"It's not a big deal."
"It obviously is if you all suddenly went quiet."
They exchanged glances.
Eventually, one of them sighed.
"Fine."
You waited.
"We were talking about August."
"And?"
"We were just saying how he's... kind of amazing."
You smiled faintly.
"Yeah. He is."
The friend hesitated.
"That's actually what we were talking about."
Your smile slowly faded.
"What do you mean?"
"August is talented."
"He's an artist."
"He's confident."
"He's got this whole style and personality."
You frowned. "Okay?"
"And we just don't really get why he's with you."
You stared at them.
"...What?"
"I mean, you're nice and everything."
"But August is..." They paused. "He's August."
Your stomach tightened. "And?"
"He's way out of your league."
You didn't respond immediately.
You tried to laugh.
"Is this about my clothes?"
"No."
"Then what?"
Another uncomfortable silence.
One of them finally spoke. "You're just not really... his type."
You looked down at yourself. "What does that mean?"
"You know what it means."
"No. I don't."
They hesitated "You're too fat."
The words sat there.
Heavy.
Ugly.
Unnecessarily cruel.
You didn't know what to say.
You looked at the outfit August had made you wear that day.
Suddenly, you couldn't help wondering if he'd ever actually thought you looked good in it.
Maybe he was simply being nice.
Maybe everyone else could see what you couldn't.
Maybe—
You stopped yourself.
You didn't want to think about it.
You barely remembered what happened afterward.
You went quiet.
You didn't argue.
You didn't defend yourself.
You didn't tell them how much their words hurt.
You simply stopped talking.
When you eventually returned to headquarters, you were still quiet.
People noticed.
You normally had something to say.
Even if it was only a sarcastic comment about August yelling.
But that day, you didn't.
Someone asked if you were okay.
"Yeah."
You weren't.
Someone else tried to joke with you.
You gave them a weak smile.
You avoided August whenever you could.
Not because you didn't love him.
You just didn't want him to see you like this.
You didn't want to hear him compliment your appearance.
You didn't want him to tell you how good his clothes looked on you.
Because suddenly, you weren't sure you believed any of it.
And August noticed.
Of course he did.
He noticed when you didn't laugh.
He noticed when you didn't respond to his usual dramatic comments.
He noticed when you avoided looking at him.
He noticed when you walked away whenever he entered the room.
But he didn't immediately confront you.
He watched.
He waited.
And eventually, later that day, he decided he had something that might make you feel better.
Something he'd been working on all week.
Something he'd been ridiculously excited about.
The door suddenly flew open.
August marched toward you.
"I HAVE BEEN WORKING ON THIS FOR AN ENTIRE WEEK!"
He gestured wildly.
"DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA HOW MANY TIMES I HAD TO REDO THE STITCHING?!"
You shook your head.
"No."
"SEVENTEEN!"
He held up his fingers.
"SEVENTEEN TIMES!"
He pointed at one of the details.
"AND THIS PART?! DO YOU SEE THIS?!"
You nodded.
"Yes."
"I REDID IT FOUR TIMES!!!"
He looked incredibly proud.
"AND DO YOU KNOW WHY?!"
You stared at him.
"Because you're insane?"
"BECAUSE I'M AN ARTIST!!!"
August dramatically spun around.
"AND AN ARTIST MUST SUFFER FOR THEIR CRAFT!"
You almost smiled.
Almost.
But the feeling disappeared just as quickly.
August noticed the tiny change in your expression.
Still, he tried to keep going.
"ANYWAY!"
He thrust the outfit toward you.
"PUT IT ON!!!"
You looked at it.
"I don't want to."
August froze.
The room went completely silent.
"...What?"
"I don't want to try it."
August's mouth fell open.
He looked down at the outfit.
Then at you.
Then back at the outfit.
"YOU DON'T WANT TO TRY IT?!"
"No."
He stared at you as though you'd just informed him that art itself had been outlawed.
"MY MUSE DOESN'T WANT TO WEAR MY MASTERPIECE?!"
You looked away.
"Not today."
August staggered backward.
"NOT TODAY?!"
He put a hand against his chest.
"NOT TODAY!!!"
He looked toward the ceiling.
"AFTER EVERYTHING I'VE DONE?!"
You sighed.
"August..."
"NO!!!"
He pointed dramatically at the outfit.
"I HAVE POURED MY SOUL INTO THIS!!!"
He pointed at himself.
"MY HEART!"
He clutched his chest.
"MY PASSION!!"
He dramatically lowered himself onto a chair.
"MY ARTISTIC SPIRIT!!!"
He fell backward.
"IT'S ALL GONE!!!"
You stared at him.
Normally, you would've laughed.
Normally, his ridiculous performance would've made you smile.
But today, you couldn't.
August kept going for another moment.
"MY CAREER IS OVER!!!"
He raised one arm dramatically.
"I'VE FAILED AS AN ARTIST!!!"
Silence.
August looked at you.
You weren't laughing.
You weren't annoyed.
You weren't even looking at him.
Your eyes were fixed somewhere on the floor.
His expression changed.
The theatrics disappeared.
His arm slowly lowered.
"...Hey."
You didn't answer.
August stood up.
This time, he approached you slowly.
"Hey."
His voice was quieter.
Almost unnervingly quiet for August.
He looked at your face.
Then he noticed how tired you looked.
The way your shoulders were slightly hunched.
The way you were avoiding eye contact.
The way your hands were nervously fidgeting.
He knew something was wrong.
Really wrong.
"...You're upset."
You shook your head.
"No."
"You're lying."
You didn't answer.
August glanced at the outfit he'd made.
Then back at you.
"Is it the outfit?"
"No."
"Did I do something?"
"No."
"Did somebody do something?"
You hesitated.
August's eyes narrowed.
"...Somebody did something."
You looked away.
"It's nothing."
"NO."
His voice suddenly rose.
You flinched.
August immediately stopped.
He realized.
He had scared you.
His expression softened.
"...Sorry."
He took a breath.
"I didn't mean to yell."
He sat down beside you.
For once, he wasn't trying to make a grand speech.
He wasn't showing off.
He wasn't trying to make himself the center of attention.
He was just looking at you.
"Tell me what happened."
You stayed silent.
August waited.
Several seconds passed.
Then a minute.
He didn't interrupt.
Eventually, you spoke.
"My friends said something."
August's expression tightened.
"What did they say?"
You hesitated.
"They said you're too good for me."
August blinked.
"...What?"
"They said you're talented and amazing and that I'm not good enough for you."
His face slowly changed.
You continued before you could lose your courage.
"And they said I'm too fat."
Silence.
August stared at you.
For once, he had absolutely nothing to say.
Then his expression hardened.
"...They said that to you?"
You nodded.
His jaw tightened.
He looked genuinely angry now.
But he didn't yell.
Instead, he reached for your hand.
"Look at me."
You slowly looked at him.
"They're wrong."
His voice was firm.
"Completely wrong."
He squeezed your hand gently.
"And don't you dare think for one second that I made those clothes because I feel sorry for you."
You blinked.
"I don't."
"Good."
He paused.
"Because I make them because I WANT to."
He gestured toward the outfit.
"I look at you and I get ideas."
He smiled faintly.
"I see you and think about colors."
Another small smile.
"I think about shapes, fabrics, patterns."
He shrugged.
"I think about what would look good on you."
He looked directly into your eyes.
"Because you're my muse."
You swallowed.
"But what if they're right?"
August immediately shook his head.
"Then they don't know you."
He leaned closer.
"And they definitely don't know me."
He glanced at the outfit.
"You don't have to wear this."
You looked at him.
"Really?"
"YES."
He paused.
"...Well."
His expression became slightly offended.
"I'd PREFER if you did."
You gave him a tiny smile.
August noticed.
His expression immediately brightened.
"THERE!!!"
You blinked.
"What?"
"THAT!!!"
He pointed at your face.
"THAT LITTLE SMILE!!!"
You covered your face.
"August..."
"MY MUSE IS SMILING!!!"
He threw his arms into the air.
"THE WORLD IS SAVED!!!"
You laughed quietly.
August grinned.
Then his expression softened again.
"But seriously."
He lowered his voice.
"You don't ever have to change yourself because someone else thinks you should."
He gently nudged the outfit aside.
"Especially not because someone decided they know what you deserve."
He looked at you.
"You deserve to feel good."
He paused.
"You deserve to feel beautiful."
His fingers gently squeezed yours.
"And you deserve someone who reminds you of that."
He smiled.
"Fortunately for you..."
His usual confidence returned.
"You have an extremely talented, incredibly handsome, completely brilliant artist for a boyfriend."
You laughed.
"You're so full of yourself."
"OF COURSE I AM!!!"
He pointed proudly at himself.
"I'M AUGUST STILZA!!!"
He stood dramatically.
"AND I'M YOUR ARTIST!!!"
