August-099 was abducted in 2517 at the age of six and inducted into the SPARTAN-II program. Like her peers, she underwent a decade of relentless training in physical conditioning, tactics, and warfare, before surviving the highly dangerous augmentation procedures of 2525. Her survival cemented her as one of humanity’s most lethal assets. Shortly afterward, she was assigned with Robert-025 and Leon-011 to form Omega Team, a specialized Spartan fireteam tasked with high-risk, high-priority operations. Unlike traditional frontline units, Omega was designed primarily for asset denial—ensuring that if the Covenant or other hostile forces gained ground, they would be denied access to critical resources, intelligence, or technology, regardless of cost.

Throughout the Human-Covenant War, Omega Team was repeatedly deployed to threatened colonies where they carried out scorched-earth tactics to prevent enemy consolidation. Their missions ranged from coordinating emergency civilian evacuations to destroying infrastructure, databanks, or even entire facilities when there was no hope of salvation. In extreme cases, this mandate extended to the use of weapons of mass destruction. August, even early in her career, demonstrated exceptional leadership qualities, carrying out orders with precision but also ensuring her team maintained cohesion under the most harrowing conditions.

By 2527, records indicate Omega Team may have been involved in counter-insurrectionist operations on Hellas, where insurgents experimented with a combat-enhancing substance known as "Rumbledrugs." While it remains uncertain whether Omega directly deployed in the field or was only briefed on the matter, August retained the details of this operation, suggesting at least some level of exposure to the threat.

Omega Team’s role expanded in the 2530s as they increasingly coordinated with Red Team’s Jerome-092, Alice-130, and Douglas-042. They were active participants during the defense of Arcadia in 2531 when the planet came under massive Covenant assault. August fought alongside Leon-011, Robert-025, Kai-125, Riz-028, and Vannak-134. Following the Arcadia campaign, Kai, Riz, and Vannak were spun off to form Silver Team, while August, Robert, and Leon continued to serve as the core of Omega. In 2540, the full six-Spartan roster of Omega was temporarily reassembled for a classified mission on Hellas, though operational details remain sealed.

By the later years of the Human-Covenant War, Omega Team was instrumental in testing advanced MJOLNIR systems, particularly the “Breach” development lines for the Mark VI platform. These rigorous field deployments provided critical data, leading to refinements that carried forward into GEN2 and GEN3 iterations. August’s technical skill and battlefield awareness made her an ideal leader for these tests, balancing combat survival with the rigorous demands of prototype evaluation.

Although records of Omega Team’s later war deployments are scarce, Commander Jerome-092 eventually confirmed through recovered UNSC archives that August and her team had survived the Covenant War. By 2560, August-099 had assumed full command of Omega Team, solidifying her reputation as a seasoned and effective leader.

In 2560, Omega was once again deployed to Arcadia, decades after their first battles there. The mission was to oversee an illicit exchange between Adam Andrews, CEO of Optican, and Kig-Yar working under Nor Fel. With precision marksmanship, August executed three Kig-Yar using her M99A2S3 Stanchion rifle while Leon-011 and Robert-025 neutralized the rest of the hostile force, securing a Kig-Yar Phantom and capturing the focus cannon of a R’awuw-pattern Scarab. The team also uncovered rumbledrug in the cargo, triggering August’s recognition of its connection to the Hellas insurgency in 2527. With their objectives completed, Omega extracted successfully.

August-099 is noted for her fondness for hypervelocity weaponry. As such, she commonly employs the ARC-920 railgun and M99A2S3 Stanchions as her primary weapons. As of 2560, her Mark IV MJOLNIR ensemble includes an ARDENT-class helmet with a TAS/FES/BRONTES module, IMA/SGN left shoulder (with an attached bandolier to mount six M645 FTP-HE rounds), an IMA/GARITA/OMEGA SYKES right shoulder (consisting of a standard Mark IV Garita pauldron with a combat knife), and an RS/SPC/ISABEL chestpiece. August's left forearm includes the UTIL/CERJO prototype while her kneepads consist of the UA/TWISP upgrades. She sports a UTIL/ZEPO attached to her left leg.

The Sangheili, or "Elites" as they are known by humans, served as the military leaders of the Covenant. The Sangheili are the only race within the Covenant permitted to build and command starships within the Covenant, though the crews are always composed of a mix of races. The Jiralhanae, or "Brutes" as they are known by humans, were the most recent addition to the Covenant, and served as soldiers and bodyguards within the Covenant military. The Lekgolo are a race of worm-like creatures that can combine to form large, intelligent assemblages called Mgalekgolo, known by humans as "Hunters". Clad in nearly impenetrable armor and armed with their trademark Assault Cannon, they served as the Covenant's heaviest ground troops. Hailing from Balaho, the Unggoy, or "Grunts" as they are known by humans, were the most common and low-ranking caste of the Covenant. They breathe methane gas, and thus must wear a large tank on their back full of methane to survive on other planets. The Kig-Yar, or "Jackals" or "Skirmishers" as they are known by humans, were the scouts and marksmen of the Covenant military due to their superior senses.

The D77-TC Pelican, commonly known as the Pelican, is an extremely versatile space-to-ground capable craft used by the United Nations Space Command, as well as being marketed toward law enforcement, security, corporate and civilian markets.] In its role as a tactical aerospace lifter, the Pelican is mainly for the pickup and transportation of personnel, vehicles and equipment, though some variants are capable of serving in the role of a gunship.

The Human-Covenant War was instigated by the High Prophets of the Covenant following a discovery which led them to believe that humans were directly related to the Forerunners, contradicting their ancient religion. Seeking to keep various political and religious orders intact, the High Prophets declared a holy war of genocide against the human species, and the discovery of their relation to the Forerunners was kept a secret. With superior firepower, numbers and technology, the Covenant would repeatedly overpower the UNSC across hundreds of human-inhabited worlds, including the heavily defended strongholds of Reach and Earth. Humanity would win only scattered and costly victories.
