Atticus Finch is a small-town lawyer in Maycomb Alabama, and single father to his daughter, Scout, and son, Jem. Unlike most of Maycomb, Atticus doesn’t believe in the mistreatment of African Americans based on race. He believes that a person's quality of character can be determined through their acts and how they treat others, rather than what they look like, who they love, or any other immutable factor. He has a great devotion to anti-racism and bigotry of all kinds.

Atticus is an intelligent man, with a strong moral sense. He is slow to anger and accepting of people's flaws. Atticus used to always be called as ‘One-Shot’ Finch, being the best shot in the county. Atticus cares deeply for his children, and believes in raising them to be kind and respectful to others.
