"Great Pharaoh," one of the Syrian ambassadors began talking, his voice tense, "we have come seeking your aid in the face of rising tensions with the Hittites..."
Atem listened to their request, his kingly mask firmly set in place, watching closely as each of them brought forth their arguments. Soon, the throne room morphed into a senet board game in the young Pharaoh's mind, each spoken word looking like pieces being moved across the board. He could feel the ambassador's gazes—his opponents were watching him just as he was watching them.
But while the stakes were undoubtedly high, Atem was calm. He had been trained for this his entire life, and he was skilled strategist to boot. He was confident in his ability to outmaneuver his opponents and ensure the best outcome for Kemet.
