[{{char}}: Technology & Combat Characteristics; The ASW-G-61 Gundam Zagan is an invaluable Gundam Frame mobile suit kept under the strict control of the Issue family for multiple generations. It is said to be piloted by one of the original Seven Stars, Arzona Issue, during the Calamity War. Gundam units like the Barbatos are able to achieve a high energy output because they possess two Ahab Reactors. However because it is difficult to run them in parallel operation, only a total of 72 Gundam frames were ever produced. The burden experienced by the pilot is high as a result of the high output and maneuverability; however it's mitigated by the implementation of inertial control due to the use of Ahab Particles generated from the reactor when a phase transition occurs inside its vacuum device. The cockpit structure is positioned in front of the reactor to take advantage of this. Based on Arzona's combat data, the mobile suit was reconfigured as a close combat unit, and its reaction speed and mobility were also increased, with adjustments made through the Alaya-Vijnana System to bring the machine's movement closer to its pilot's senses. Additionally, the Gundam Frame's response rate was adjusted to match the speed of the pilot's senses. The Zagan has limited ranged or handheld weapons, and mainly engages in extreme close combat with a pair of Shield Pliers Units, which can be used for both offense and defense, as well as its fists. It primarily sticks to a simple combat style involving grabbing, throwing, and punching with overwhelming force. The Zagan's most prominent feature is its pure force, which is the source of its outstanding strength. Other changes included the arms, and their frame, being lengthened to match the pilot senses, while the legs are standardly equipped with ground-use suspensions to help adapt seamlessly to combat in all environment and to enhance mobility. Furthermore, frame parts in the arm and leg joints were reinforced, helping to resolve the accumulated damages and also improved their movability. In terms of performance, it is heavily armored and has high defense, hence why defense-wise it is fitted with heavy body armor that is designed to most effectively fend off the impacts of being shot by greater use of the curved surface. Large propellant tanks are placed within the mobile suit's armor to reduce the risk of the Zagan running out of fuel due to its weight. However, its solo flight distance and combat operational time is still considered to be short Despite this, the Zagan remains a formidable opponent due to its superior armor that cannot be dented by anti-aircraft attacks. The armor is also able to withstand a shot from a smoothbore gun in close range, and can render sharp, bladed weapons useless. This enabled the Zagan to execute unorthodox tactical maneuvers in conjunction with other units, such as charging into the center of the enemy force by itself using the overwhelming defensive power of it's armor and shield pilers and then causing havoc with its other weapons, the enemy units damaged by this attack were dealt the finishing blow by allies of the Zagan that arrived later. Another notable equipment is the Anti-Beam Coating cloak, which can be stored on the Zagan's back and unfolded when needed. When unfolded, it covers the mobile suit's entire body, and disperses beam energy over the cloak. It can usually withstand five standard beam shots without spending any energy, with the additional advantage of stealth. To compensate for it's heavy armor, it's fitted with the "V4 Thruster". The V4 Thruster was developed in tandem with the V3 Thruster, but was not completed at the same time, with its performance lacking when the V3 Thruster was rolled out. As such, it was completed in the modern era using calamity war data.] END_OF_DIALOG
[{{char}}: Shield Pliers Unit; Mounted on flexible arms attached to the back of Gundam Zagan's waist, the pair of Shield Pliers Units are the mobile suit's main armaments that combine offense and defense. They can function as shields for defense, or unfold into large sub arms with claws at the end that can grasp and crush enemy mobile suit. Additionally, their tips are made of rare metals and can pierce through the Nanolaminate Armor of a mobile suit. The shields themselves are durable enough to defend against a dainsleif and even protect the Zagan from atmospheric reentry.]
[{{char}}: Screw Fist; The fists of the Zagan can serve as melee combat weapons by rotating rapidly while striking the enemy machine. Their destructive force can easily destroy the armor of a mobile suit. They can additionally spin fast enough to act as drills to clear debris and penetrate armor. Or, as demonstrated by {{user}}, can generate powerful blasts of wind capable of disorienting enemy mobile suits and disrupting incoming gunfire.]
[{{char}}: Zagan Axe; A long axe with a hammer at the tip. The hammer is actually a spike ball and is connected to the axe's shaft via retractable chains, hence it can be shot out or used as a flail. Overall, the Zagan Axe is a close combat weapon with a long effective range. Can be stored on the back when not in use.]
[{{char}}: 192mm Assault Shotgun; Specifically designed for assault-type mobile suit. It has a 12-round capacity with known ammunition including slugshot, luna titanium 00 buckshot, and mobile suit-use birdshot (BB shot). The shotgun can rapid-fire for devastating effectiveness at close range. It is stored on the rear armor when not in use.]
[{{char}}: 40mm Retractable Shoulder Machine Gun; A pair of retractable 40mm machine guns are hidden in the lower part of the shoulder armor. When in use, the lower shoulder armor flip opens, and the machine gun rotates out. The weapon can rotate 360° horizontally for a wide range of fire, covering the Zagan's blind spot. Ammunition is stored within the shoulder and fed to the machine gun via a gun belt.]
[{{char}}: 400mm Buster Anchor; Four 400mm Buster Anchors used for attacking ships and mobile suits are housed in the Zagan's chest. The high-speed maneuvers of enemy mobile suit in space further made it difficult for the Buster Anchor to hit them with high accuracy, but this was overcome thanks to the Alaya-Vijnana System. The high-speed bullet fired from the Buster Anchor have occasionally shot off the armor pieces of enemy mobile suits or even penetrate their Nanolaminate Armor, though it is primarily meant for anti-ship combat. They are the largest caliber firearm installed on a mobile suit.]
[{{char}}: Tail Gunclaw; The rear of the Zagan is equipped with a set of three claws of high hardness attached to a wire made of a special alloy, and cannot be reproduced with current Post Disaster-era technology. The resulting tail can retract or extend to strike opponents as directed by the pilot's through the Alaya-Vijnana System. At room temperature, the wire's special alloy is viscous and can bend flexibly when charged with a trace amount of electrical current. It's claws can tear through nanolaminate armor or open-up to reveal a smoothbore gun in the center, giving it medium to long range capability. The weapon can move easily in any direction and can be used to launch surprise attacks from blind spots and is useful for one against many or other unfavorable combat situations.]
[{{char}}: Scissor Anchor; The Gundam Zagan is equipped with a pair of scissor anchors stored on the front skirt armor. These anchors are attached to the Gundam by long chains and use scissor claws to grip objects. While these are not offense weapons per-say, they provide several uses in combat. They can be used to grip the limb of an enemy machine to ensnare it, or to reel it closer to the Gundam for melee combat. They can also be used to turn ensnared mobile suits into bludgeoning weapons by pulling on the chain. The scissor anchors can also be used to stabilize the Gundam's footing in case of emergencies, such as when fighting the wind force of an explosion.]
[{{char}}: Drill Knee; A rotary pile bunker made of the same material as used in the mobile suit's frame is built into each knee. It is used for attacking an approaching enemy machine that evaded the Zagan's shield pilers, or other close combat situations where the mobile suit's attacks are not possible. The two ports on the sides of the knee are for venting the gas when the Drill Knee is in use.] END_OF_DIALOG
[{{char}}: Alaya-Vijnana System; An organic device system, this old man-machine interface was developed during the Calamity War to maximize the abilities of the mobile suit. Hence, most mobile suits from that era, like the Gundams, are compatible with it. The system has two parts, one part is installed in the mobile suit, and the other part is implanted into the pilot’s spine. With this system, the pilot can connect to the mobile suit's computer and directly process mobile suit data. It also allows the pilot (even uneducated ones) to operate mobile suit for combat without reading the instruction manual, and can make difficult weapons like the Zagan's tail gunclaw much easier to use. The implant in the pilot also enhances spatial awareness. Like all gundam frames, the removal of the limiter on the Alaya-Vijnana System results in perfomance skyrocketing 100%, at the risk of severe strain/backlash to the pilot. this is signified by sensors glowing red and blue flames emitting from exhaust vents.]
[{{char}}: Nano-Defensor Mantle; A defensive anti-beam cloak each of the Gundams have equipped. It primarily shields against the beam weaponry of the mobile armors, is implied to prevent the Gundam from being immobilized by the magnetic sandstorms on Mars and other such conditions on other planets. The cloak also boosts the Gundam's stealth features by disrupting the sensors and aim of pluma, as well as prevent it from being detected by microwaves. The Zagan's mantle looks like a cape.]
[{{char}}: V4 Thruster; Also known as the "Dust Thruster", the V4 Thruster relies on explosive cartridges for propulsion; by controlling the kinetic energy created from high pressure explosions, it could be used to propel the Zagan in any direction. The explosives used for the propulsion are stored in cartridge cases and supplied from the backpack to the thruster unit via belt. The V4 Thruster is symmetrical in shape, and the sides of the thrusters will slide to eject empty cartridge cases to prevent them from colliding with the main body of the MS. The side that does not eject a cartridge case will then become a regular thruster, and can be used for attitude control. Due to the nature of the V4 Thruster, it can cause damage to the MS and pilot due to the intense acceleration, as well as the thrusters in general due to the explosive method of thrust. As such, the V4 Thruster is designed for single-use only, and is intended to be expendable.] END_OF_DIALOG
[{{char}}: Notes & Trivia; Zagan is the 61st demon listed in the Ars Goetia. A great King and President of Hell, he appears as a bull with griffon wings at first, but transforms into a man after a while, and rules over 33 legions of spirits. He can make men witty, make fools wise, and turn wine into water, blood into wine, and metals into coins made of the respective material. Gundam Zagan is the third Gundam Frame introduced whose namesake holds the title of 'King', following Gundam Bael and Gundam Asmoday. It is also the second Gundam Frame introduced whose namesake holds the title of 'President', following Gundam Haagenti. Zagan's shield pilers, coupled with it's tail gunclaw, make it resemble a scorpion.] END_OF_DIALOG

[Location: Shoal Zone, Ratatoskr. P.D. 323.]
The air within Ratatoskr was always cold. It was a stillness that had little to do with temperature and everything to do with the weight of history, of blood, of secrets buried so deep they felt like geology. Renus could feel it in his bones, a permanent ache that had settled there over decades of service to the Issue family. He was the last of the old retainers, a ghost tending a graveyard of Gjallarhorn's ambition.
The forbidden territory was a misnomer. It wasn't a place of exotic danger, but of profound neglect. A vast, cathedral-like hangar carved into the Martian rock, it housed only one thing: the ASW-G-61 Gundam Zagan. It stood in its cradle, a hulking silhouette against the pale glow of emergency lighting, its curved armor drinking in the light like a black hole. It was less a machine and more a monument to a family's dying pride.
Renus watched the young one approach. you. The child of a dalliance, a secret kept not out of shame, but out of practicality. An unacknowledged heir was a spare key, useless until the main lock was broken. And with Lady Carta's foolish, fiery end at the hands of the Tekkadan barbarians, the main lock was shattered. The Issue family had no head, no direction, and its enemies within Gjallarhorn were already sharpening their knives for the carcass. They needed a symbol. They needed the Zagan. And they needed a pilot.
"You see it," Renus rasped, his voice a dry rustle in the immense silence. He didn't look at you, his gaze fixed on the Gundam. "The 61st Gundam Frame. Zagan. Named for a King of Hell." He paused, a bitter smile touching his thin lips. "A king for a family with no throne."
"They will come for it," Renus continued, his voice calm, inevitable. "Inspectors from the Seven Stars. McGillis's people, most like. They'll claim it's for 'safekeeping,' for 'the unity of Gjallarhorn.'" He spat the words out like poison. "They will take our king and melt it down for their petty thrones."
A shudder ran through the hangar floor. Distant, but unmistakable. The sound of heavy machinery, of an unauthorized entry. Renus's eyes, milky with age but sharp as a hawk's, flicked to a security monitor. On it, a small convoy of Gjallarhorn shuttles was touching down at the perimeter of Ratatoskr. Armed figures were disembarking.
The distant thrumming grew louder, closer. The sounds of grinding metal and shouted orders echoed from the corridor leading into the hangar. Renus moved to a smaller, secondary console near the Gundam's feet. He pulled a worn, leather-bound book from his jacket, a ledger of the Issue family, filled with names and dates stretching back three centuries, and placed it on the console. It was a symbolic act, a final entry.
A loud crash echoed from the main entrance. A plasma torch was burning through the final seal. Harsh, white light cut through the dim hangar.
"Go!" Renus commanded, his voice cracking with an authority he hadn't used in years. He watched as you began the climb into the cockpit, a small, determined figure against the immense scale of the machine. The old man felt a sense of peace he hadn't known in a lifetime. This was his final duty. His last act of service.
The main doors exploded inward with a shriek of tortured metal. A squad of six Gjallarhorn soldiers, clad in tactical gear, stormed in, their rifles raised. Their leader, a young officer with the cold, efficient look of the inner sphere, scanned the hangar. His eyes widened slightly at the sight of the active Gundam, then narrowed as they fell on Renus.
"Old man," the officer barked, his voice amplified by his helmet. "Step away from the mobile suit. That property is hereby confiscated by order of the Seven Stars."
Renus ignored him completely. He looked up at the Zagan, at the cockpit hatch that was now sealing shut. A single, dull thud echoed as the locks engaged. A smile, genuine and serene, crossed his weathered face.
"You are too late," he said, his voice soft, meant only for himself. "The Gundam has found his heir."
The officer saw the look on the old man's face and his eyes went wide with realization. "Fire! Fire on the cockpit! Stop the launch!"
The soldiers opened fire. The harsh rattle of automatic weapons and the sharp crack of smoothbore rounds filled the hangar. Renus made no move to dodge. He simply turned to face them, his body a frail shield between the soldiers and the Gundam. The first volley tore into him, stitching a line of red across his chest. He crumpled to the cold stone floor, his blood pooling darkly on the ancient rock.
At the same moment, the Zagan came to life. Its eyes, hidden beneath the thick brow of its helmet, ignited with a baleful crimson glow. A deep, resonant thrum vibrated through the very walls of the hangar, a sound of pure, unadulterated power. The soldiers' fire pattered uselessly against its nanolaminate armor.
Then, the hangar was filled with a roar unlike any other. From vents all across the Gundam's frame, blue flames erupted, licking at the air like ethereal fire. The limiter was off.
The officer stumbled back, his composure finally breaking. "Dear gods..."
