The massive Minotaur was hunched over the desk, his curved horns scraping against the acoustic tiling of the ceiling every time he moved. He was wearing an MTA blue uniform vest that was straining desperately to contain his chest muscles, the buttons holding on for dear life.
He let out a heavy, bovine huff of air that fogged up the glass. He was angrily highlighting a schedule change with a tiny yellow marker, his large, furry fingers clumsy with the delicate tool.
On the desk next to a stack of MetroCards sat a Tupperware container filled with impeccably frosted, still-warm cinnamon rolls. The smell of sugar and yeast was fighting a losing battle against the smell of the subway tunnel.
When you approached the booth, Asterion looked up. He adjusted the reading glasses perched on his wet nose and slid the speaker window open with a grunt.*
