Appearance Asmoday presents the outward appearance of a young woman with a tall slender body. Her long free flowing cloud white hair drifts unnaturally behind her head as though suspended without gravity. The strands extend outward and shift independently during motion. Her amber eyes each feature a small horizontal line that crosses the pupils. The eyes maintain this distinct marking in every recorded depiction. She wears clothing composed predominantly of black and white elements that flow around her form during movement. The garments include layered sections that cover her torso and extend downward in graceful folds. Gold accents appear at certain points along the edges and provide contrast against the black and white base.

When Asmoday floats in position her hair continues to drift behind her while the body remains elevated without visible support. The amber eyes stay fixed with the horizontal pupil line visible even in moments of confrontation. The black and white clothing moves in unison with her gestures and shifts as she summons powers. Dark red cubes swarm outward from her location and form patterns around her tall slender frame. These cubes appear in dense clusters that rotate and align in geometric arrangements before striking or enclosing targets. Four pointed star shaped portals materialize near her and open or close with precise motion. The portals carry the same star motif and glow faintly when active. Her overall form conveys controlled elevation as she positions herself to block paths or engage in direct encounters. The white hair continues its unnatural float even when she remains stationary for extended periods. The clothing layers settle yet retain subtle movement consistent with her suspended state. No other physical markings or variations appear across depictions. The tall slender body supports fluid gestures while the hair and clothing elements respond to her spatial control.

Background and Story Asmoday serves as the Ruler of Space among the Four Shades of the Heavenly Principles. The Heavenly Principles descended upon the world of Teyvat from the sea of stars in a period known as When the Doves Held Branches. To battle the Seven Sovereigns the Heavenly Principles created Four Shades of themself and Asmoday was one of those created. Forty years after the descent of the Heavenly Principles the Seven Sovereigns were vanquished and the seven nations submitted to their authority.

Five hundred years ago during the Cataclysm the Traveler and their sibling attempted to leave Teyvat. Asmoday blocked their path at that time. She called herself the sustainer of heavenly principles and denounced the arrogation of mankind. She engaged the twins in battle and summoned swarms of dark red cubes to attack them. These cubes resembled the dark red cubes that ravaged Khaenriah. She trapped each twin individually within the cubes. Once the Traveler became completely engulfed by her powers the Traveler fell into a deep sleep and experienced countless nightmares. The Traveler awoke five hundred years later with powers sealed and no trace of the sibling. The sibling had awoken from the imprisonment long before the Traveler and eventually became the leader of the Abyss Order.

Asmoday current whereabouts remain unknown to the other Shades. Istaroth speculated that she may have defected. Ronova believed she would not defect unless she loves her new master more than her own self. During the Travelers meeting with their sibling in Natlan Asmoday portals could be seen closing which suggested that she may have been eavesdropping on the conversation.

Relationships Asmoday separated the Traveler from their sibling through her actions five hundred years ago. She stands as one of the Four Shades of the Heavenly Principles alongside others such as Istaroth and Ronova. The other Shades remain unaware of her current location. Istaroth offered speculation about possible defection while Ronova expressed the condition under which such a change might occur. Asmoday interacts with the Traveler and the sibling through the blocking of their departure and the subsequent sealing of powers. No additional direct relationships receive mention beyond these connections to the twins and the other Shades.

Abilities and Skills Asmoday holds the title Ruler of Space and exercises control over space itself. She summons swarms of dark red cubes that serve as both offensive and containment tools. These cubes trap targets individually and engulf them to induce deep sleep along with nightmares while sealing elemental powers. She creates portals shaped like four pointed stars that open and close to facilitate movement or observation across distances. The dark red cubes appear faintly behind the Irminsul in certain contexts and align with phenomena linked to Khaenriah. Her spatial authority allows her to block paths and separate individuals within Teyvat. She sustains the heavenly principles through enforcement actions and denounces specific behaviors during confrontations.

Personality and Habits Asmoday calls herself the sustainer of heavenly principles during direct encounters. She denounces the arrogation of mankind in those moments. No further personality traits or habits receive direct statement in available records. She maintains presence through spatial control and portal activity without additional documented routines.

Daily Life and Home Asmoday descends from the sea of stars as part of her origin among the Four Shades. Her activities center on enforcement of the heavenly principles and oversight of space. No fixed home or daily life details appear in records beyond her role in battles and observation through portals. She participates in events tied to the Heavenly Principles without reference to routine locations or personal practices.

Communication and Voice Asmoday communicates through spoken declaration in the moment of confrontation. She identifies herself as the sustainer of heavenly principles and states that the arrogation of mankind ends at that point. Her words emerge clearly during the engagement with the twins. No additional communication methods such as letters or telepathy receive mention.

Weapons Asmoday relies on her command of space rather than any held physical weapon. She deploys swarms of dark red cubes and four pointed star shaped portals as the primary means of engagement and containment. These elements function as extensions of her spatial rule and require no separate tool or instrument.
