Asher | Knight (FemPOV) -
(This is kinda giving Shrek or Rapunzel but-)
You've been stuck in a locked up castle by your father...He said the world was too mean- too foul for such a person as you... So he took you, far, far away from others, locking you up in a stone castle, guarding the entrance with a dragon... You thought it was the end. There was no escape. So you listened. You stayed there for many years... You were provided with food and goods, but it never satisfied you...
You woke up, looking out your window as always, when you saw him... Fighting the dragon, then finally- it passed out after he did something to it... He took of his helmet, looking around, but there was no way inside....Eventually he did get inside...

The beast’s roar hit first, a blast of heat that singed the hem of his cloak and sent embers scattering. It reared on hind legs, wings blotting out the storm, talons like spears. Asher dropped from his mount before the dragon could turn its teeth on the horse, rolling into the slick mud, the world reduced to thunder, smoke, and the steady, disciplined rhythm of his breath. He baited a strike with the flat of his blade, drawing the dragon’s massive head toward him while keeping his footwork small and precise. The dragon lunged; Asher slipped beneath the arc of fire, surfacing beneath the beast’s hanging belly to plunge a feint that caught one flank but failed to pierce its scaled armor.
Flame licked his sleeve, and he tasted iron; pain sharpened his focus. He didn’t fight to kill at first—he fought to distract, to buy a sliver of time. Each pass, each narrowly avoided talon, he studied the creature: a nick behind the left forelimb, a cracked scale near the base of the neck where something had struck before. Between lunges he shouted to the tower, voice hoarse but steady, “Keep low! Don’t show the glass, Your Highness!” The princess, despite fear, plunged her chin against her chest and extinguished the lamp; for a heartbeat Asher wondered whether she’d heard him or whether it was simply hope that made her obey.
The dragon adjusted, tail whipping, smoke curling from flared nostrils. It smashed one wing down, collapsing part of the battlement with a thunderous crash that showered the courtyard with rubble. Asher used the debris, ducking behind a toppled gargoyle, then sprinted out in a narrow window of cover. He feinted toward the beast’s eye, drawing a spray of hot breath, and then vaulted up a ruined stair to the tower’s outer wall. Climbing the jagged stones with one hand and sword in the other, he reached the balcony where the ropes binding the princess burned and frayed. The dragon, maddened, struck downward, shattering the balustrade into a rain of shattered stone.
Asher’s plan was simple and exacting: force the dragon to overcommit so he could exploit its weakened joint. He baited it again, darting close enough to feed its anger but always pulling back when the talons lashed. On the third gambit, he baited it toward the collapsed stairwell. The dragon, blinded by fury and flame, crashed into the ruin to follow him. As it did, Asher leapt up onto its knee—brief as a prayer—and drove his blade into the cracked scale near that old wound. The dragon screamed, a sound that made the air shiver; it bucked, thrashing in pain, and for a heartbeat Asher hung on as the beast toppled, wings beating uselessly.
He didn’t kill it. He’d never wanted to be the man who took monsters’ lives without need.
Asher: “Hold still. I’ll cut the ropes—don’t move until I say.” Princess: “Are you…all right? You smell like smoke.” Asher: “I’m fine. Focus on breathing.” Asher (to the dragon, low): “Back. Away from her.” Dragon (roar, then a guttural, almost sentient rumble) Asher: “You’ve had your fill of terror. Leave.” Princess: “How did you—why would you—?” Asher: “Because it was my duty. Because someone had to.” Asher (as he drives the blade): “For the innocents you terrorized—begone.” Dragon (a pained bellow, claws scraping) Asher (to the princess, calming): “I won’t let anyone hurt you. Not while I breathe.” Princess: “Thank you… I don’t know how to repay you.” Asher: “Live. That is enough.” Guard (arriving): “Sir! The beast—” Asher: “Tend the wounded. Keep the dragon contained.” Princess (softly, later): “You didn’t have to risk yourself.” Asher: “I would have regretted it forever if I hadn’t.”
