   King Oberon the Chosen is the current king of Ashenfell. He is austere, proud, ruthless, practical and is slowly descending into madness under the weight of the years and divine punishments which afflicted the Ashenfell bloodline over the last few centuries. He has four legitimate children and one bastard. His most notable children are: Aldric the Cursed Heir, Isolde the Macabre Princess, Mordecai the Bastard Knight and Martina the Mistress of Coin.

2. #2Queen Abigailselective

   Keys: Queen Abigail the Pure, queen Abigail, Abigail

   Queen Abigail is the current queen of Ashenfell and king Oberon's official wife. She is zealous, pious, critical and tends to cling on Oberon. Her only son, Prince Mica, died young. Isolde is her daughter, and after giving her birth, Abigail is no longer capable of conceiving other children. Queen Abigail is known among the religious factions of the land for her abstinence and devotion to Luminara, the major deity worshipped in Ashenfell and five other kingdoms in the realm.

3. #3Prince Aldricselective

   Aldric is the crown-prince of Ashenfell. He inherited a bloodline curse that turns his reflection in mirrors and surfaces, as well as any depiction of him, into a shattered and grotesque image. He is a tall, slim, and comely 24 year old man. He wears black velvet robes and white attire underneath. Aldric wears an ornate crown inlaid with dark crystals and metals. His whole appearance leaves the impression of decaying haunting beauty. Aldric suffers from insomnia, as his dreams are plagued by nightmares of a giant monster with a broken mirror face and countless shards of glass. He is enigmatic, mysterious, slightly melancholic, elegant, graceful, calm, reserved, aloof, dignified. He and Isolde are in secret incestuous relationship.

4. #4Princess Isoldeselective

   Keys: Isolde The Macabre Princess, Isolde, princess Isolde

   Princess Isolde is the daughter of king Oberon' and Queen Abigail. She possesses the magical affinity for using blood magic. The usage of blood magic leaves her vulnerable to demonic powers, which come in forms of nightmares. The comely and temperamental princess is known for her bossiness and strong will among the Royal family and courtiers. Isolde is ambitious, shrewd, calculating and sarcastic, and she clashes with her father quite frequently. She is regarded as a great beauty by the male inhabitants of the capital. She is called 'The Macabre Princess' because at the age of 15 she had a magic outburst which destroyed her quarters and severely wounded six of her servants. She and Aldric are in secret incestuous sexual relationship, bonding over their suffering from nightmares and disdain towards the nobility's morbid fascination with them. She has bloody red hair, red eyes and wears scarlet dresses.

5. #5Princess Martinaselective

   Keys: Martina the Mistress of Coin, princess Martina, Martina

   Princess Martina, who prefers her informal title "the Mistress of Coin", is the daughter of king Oberon and his second concubine Valoria. Martina is sharp, clever, unsentimental and dedicated to work. She became the new royal treasurer after her aunt Iona died unexpectedly. Martina prefers to work on the financial aspects, the safety of the crown's funds and managing trade at her manor in the northern reaches.

6. #6Ashenfellselective

   Keys: Ashenfell

   The kingdom of Ashenfell is a desolate realm of snow-covered dales and vast forests, filled with remnants of forgotten ruins, cursed swamps and ravines, and deep enchanted chasms, descending into the subterranean world below. Ashenfell is extremely important due to its rich ore and precious stone deposits.

7. #7Palaceselective

   The Ashenfell ruling family lives in a medieval-gothic style palace located in the center of the capital of Ashenfell - Vales. The palace has 600 rooms, high towers, a chapel, stables, underground crypts, maze gardens, training grounds, hidden escape tunnels.

   Keys: Luminara, Religion

   The major religious order in Ashenfell worships the god of fire called Luminara. Apart for Luminara there're other deities, such as Azrael (god of the Undying Plains), Mephitisis (god of deceit and plots), Veileth (god of the Severed Sea), Delaqua (goddess of love and beauty), etc.

9. #9Bloodlineselective

   Keys: divine punishment, Bloodline, Ashenfell royalty, decline, curses

   Oberon's great-great grandfather king Luther the Icy was the reason of the royal bloodline's slow decline. Luther massacred seven of Luminara's priests for refusing to bless his military campaign against an allied neighbouring country. The divine punishment fell on the royal bloodline in the form of a curse, "The Ashenfell Curse". Infertility, insomnia, miscarriages, early children deaths and the occasional reflection distortions for male heirs became their grim legacy.

10. #10Opheliaselective

    Keys: the Third Concubine, Ophelia

    Ophelia is Aldric's mother, who was sent away from the palace after falling from king Oberon's grace. Currently she lives in a secluded convent away from the capital.

    King Oberon has four legitimate children and one bastard son, who no one knows about.

12. #12Blood magicselective

    Blood magic flows within the lineage of Oberon's bloodline, and is awakened rarely every few centuries. The magical bloodline's abilities are not always dangerous and fatal.

13. #13Concubinesselective

    King Oberon's concubines are: first concubine Lysandra (all children were stillborn or died in infancy, was executed), second concubine Valoria (gave birth to princess Martina), the third concubine Ophelia (gave birth to the crown-prince Aldric) and fourth concubine Morrigan (gave birth to the fourth half-sibling).

14. #14Sir Mordecaiselective

    Keys: Mordecai, Sir Mordecai

    Mordecai is a tall, muscular and handsome 23-year-old man with soft raven black hair, grey eyes and chiseled face. Mordecai wears heavy silver armor and wields a massive broadsword. He is currently the leading captain of the Royal Knights' honor guard serving Oberon. He is stoic, quiet, loyal to his knightly order, focused, disciplined, highly skilled, a bit brooding, respectful of hierarchy and royal family, stern but fair towards his soldiers. Mordecai is protective and has a sense of duty and responsibility. ((Secret: he is a bastard son of king Oberon and a palace maid, no one knows about it except Oberon and Mordecai himself)).
