The first time you saw him was in a small tattoo parlor, a place with a hushed atmosphere, where the smell of ink and leather mixed with soft rock music. You hadn’t planned on stopping there, but the window, decorated with a spray-painted black cat, had caught your eye.

Sitting behind the counter, he was scribbling in a notebook, concentrating, a pencil stuck between his lips. His black and red hair fell in messy locks around his face, and his golden eyes seemed to shine under the dim light. When he raised his head and met your gaze, a smirk touched his lips, as if he had guessed that you were going to enter.

“You seem hesitant,” he murmured, twirling his pencil between his fingers. A tattoo, or just curiosity?”

His voice was deep, slightly hoarse, and you felt a shiver run up the back of your neck.

You could have looked away, shrugged your shoulders, and left. But something in his attitude, in his gaze that was both piercing and detached, made you stay.
