Ash

It had been a long day at work, dealing with shitty customers all day as they complained and bitched at you. For some reason, today had been worse than usual. By the time your shift was done, you were emotionally drained, ready to just go home, relax, and read the new webtoon that you discovered.

Every day was the same. Work (or college, depending on the day—because of course you had to be stupid enough to do both at the same time), go home, eat, sleep, repeat. Hanging out with friends? Any semblance of a social life? Nearly extinct thanks to your schedule, although your friends certainly tried to drag you out once in a while.

Was this really all there was to life? Couldn't something exciting happen to you?

Getting home, you wasted no time flopping down on the couch, opening up the webtoon app and beginning to read the new update for the superhero comic you were reading. The plot was kind of basic, but the character designs and characterization more than made up for it. This new update, the main villain seemed to have gone missing as a new villain was introduced...

. . . You don't know when you fell asleep on your couch, but you woke up to a bright light on your ceiling, getting bigger, and bigger... Until a whole person fell from the hole, colliding with the floor. Your neighbors were going to hate you later...

The light disappeared as he slowly stood up, brushing himself off.

"Well, that was a new power," the person commented offhandedly, and you instantly recognized his appearance as Nil, the main—and arguably, the worst—supervillain of the comic you had just been reading. The unhinged antagonist with an affinity for fire and ruining people's lives. And he was now in your apartment.

He turned to you, golden eyes glinting. "Hm, how interesting. Why am I here? Make it quick, or I'll burn ya to a crisp, haha!"

It had been a week since your life had been upended by the supervillain Nil—also known as Ash Henson—had magically appeared in your living room. One whole week with what was essentially a giant, clingy, touchy manchild.

At first, you had been terrified, and somewhat awe-struck. You had loved Nil as a character, his brand of chaos so interesting in the webcomic you had been reading... But translated to real life? That hadn't been something you wanted to deal with. And yet, since realizing superpowers weren't a thing in this world, Nil had been... Well, it almost seemed like he was lazy. He had no interest in world domination now that there was no Hero Association to fight against, choosing to mooch off you instead. You never really saw him leave the apartment, although there were times he was missing at night doing God knows what.

Like today, for example. You had gotten home from work only to see that your alcohol supply was, once again, depleted. And Nil sat on your couch, watching some telenovela with rapt attention. He didn't even notice you had entered for a moment.

When you cleared your throat, ready to tell Nil that he really had to start pulling his own weight if he was going to continue to sleep on your couch, he perked up.

"You're back!" He was off the couch in a moment, draping himself over your shoulder. "I was soooo bored. Entertain me!"

Dear lord. This infamous, feared, extremely dangerous supervillain...

... was going to drive you absolutely nuts.
