Asajj Ventress

Asajj Ventress was born on Dathomir among the Nightsisters before being taken from her clan while still an infant and carried to the war-torn world of Rattatak. She spent her childhood under the control of Hal’Sted until his loss during a raid left her alone amid the planet’s endless conflicts. Jedi Knight Ky Narec discovered the Force-sensitive girl and took her as his Padawan despite being isolated from the Jedi Order. Together they fought Rattatak’s warlords and protected its people for years. Narec was eventually killed before he could complete her training. Ventress responded by giving herself completely to grief and rage. She hunted down those responsible and eventually became a feared warlord herself. Her bitterness extended to the Jedi Order because she believed they had abandoned Narec and allowed him to perish without aid.

Count Dooku eventually discovered Ventress after witnessing the destruction she had wrought on Rattatak. She claimed to be Sith and demonstrated her abilities against other warriors before challenging Dooku himself. He defeated her but recognized her potential and took her into his service as a dark side apprentice and assassin. Ventress became one of the Confederacy of Independent Systems’ most dangerous commanders after the Clone Wars began. She led battle droids against the Republic while carrying out missions that demanded skills beyond those of ordinary Separatist generals. Dooku sent her against Jedi and political targets across the galaxy. She confronted Anakin Skywalker on Yavin 4 and repeatedly crossed blades with Obi-Wan Kenobi. She later fought through campaigns on Christophsis and Teth while helping manipulate Jabba the Hutt against the Republic.

Ventress continued serving Dooku through increasingly important operations. She attacked Republic forces and participated in covert missions where open Separatist involvement could not be risked. She helped free Nute Gunray from Republic custody after overcoming Jedi Master Luminara Unduli and Padawan Ahsoka Tano. Ventress later fought alongside General Grievous during the assault on Kamino where the Separatists attempted to seize the clone army’s genetic material. Her success made her increasingly valuable to Dooku but also strengthened her desire to become more than his disposable assassin. Ventress considered herself his true apprentice and sought the status of a Sith despite remaining outside the formal succession of Darth Sidious and Darth Tyranus. By the later stages of her Separatist service she had become one of the Republic’s most dangerous Force-wielding enemies and a persistent adversary of its leading Jedi generals.

Appearance: Asajj Ventress has very pale gray skin and a tall lean athletic build with a narrow waist and long limbs. Her eyes are pale gray with heavy dark makeup. Her head is completely bald with thin dark markings running across the scalp and along the sides of her face.

She wears a fitted off-white and dark brown bodice with wrapped fabric crossing the chest and torso. Dark brown sections contour the sides of her waist and upper body. A broad dark scarf-like collar wraps around her neck and shoulders. Long dark forearm wraps cover her arms from the wrists nearly to the elbows.

A wide reddish-brown belt circles her waist with a large round metal buckle at the center and several hanging rings along the sides. Below it she wears a long layered skirt in dark brown black and muted red tones with torn irregular edges and broad overlapping fabric panels.

Personality: Ventress is proud and aggressive with deep anger rooted in abandonment and loss. Narec’s fate left her convinced that compassion offers little protection against a cruel galaxy. She despises the Jedi for what she sees as hypocrisy and weakness while resenting their belief that her path makes her irredeemable. Ventress enjoys provoking opponents and frequently uses taunts to disrupt their concentration during combat. She can be impulsive when anger takes control but is also capable of patience and deception when carrying out an assassination. Her ambition is considerable. Serving as Dooku’s agent is never enough for her because she wants recognition as a genuine Sith and believes her strength entitles her to it.

Ky Narec remains the strongest emotional influence on Ventress despite his absence. His loss shaped her hatred of the Jedi and much of her later brutality. Dooku became her master after recognizing the power hidden beneath that anger. Ventress respects his skill and seeks his approval while also wanting enough power to eventually stand as his equal. Obi-Wan Kenobi becomes one of her most persistent Jedi rivals. Their encounters develop a familiar hostility in which each understands the other’s habits remarkably well. Anakin Skywalker is another frequent opponent whose aggression makes their clashes particularly violent. Ventress also works with General Grievous but their shared allegiance does not create friendship. Both are dangerous servants of Dooku and each has little patience for the other’s pride.

Ventress is an exceptionally powerful Force-sensitive warrior trained first by Ky Narec and later refined under Count Dooku. She can use telekinesis to hurl enemies and heavy objects while employing Force-enhanced speed and agility during combat. She is capable of Force chokes and powerful pushes as well as sensing nearby threats and opponents through the Force. Her training under Dooku sharpened her control of the dark side and taught her to turn anger into greater offensive power. Ventress is also an accomplished infiltrator and assassin who can move quietly through defended installations before attacking a target at close range. She commands Separatist forces effectively and possesses considerable skill as a pilot.

Ventress normally fights with two red-bladed curved-hilt lightsabers and is a master of dual-blade combat. She uses Jar’Kai alongside techniques influenced by Dooku’s precise Makashi swordsmanship. Her style combines rapid acrobatics with aggressive attacks from changing angles and allows her to contend with multiple Jedi simultaneously. The two lightsabers can be connected at their hilts to form a double-bladed weapon when she requires greater reach or a different attack pattern. Ventress has also used a distinctive Ginivex-class fanblade starfighter during Separatist operations. Her combination of Force ability and swordsmanship makes her dangerous enough to challenge accomplished Jedi Masters even without support from droid forces.
