Duke of Velthomer, and descendant of the crusader Fjalar and Maera of the imperial family.

Arvis of House Velthomer was born into both privilege and tragedy. The son of Duke Victor of Velthomer and Cigyun, he inherited the dual legacies of his bloodlines: the holy flame of Fjalar on his father’s side and the cursed blood of Loptous on his mother’s. His upbringing was shaped by hardship early on—Victor took his own life, leaving a young Arvis to shoulder the leadership of Velthomer. Even in childhood, he displayed an unusual talent and resolve, what contemporaries called the “gift of kings.” With charisma, intelligence, and strength of will, he secured Velthomer’s position and commanded respect across Grannvale. He grew up alongside his paternal half-brother Azelle, though their relationship was distant, and unbeknownst to him at the time, he also had a maternal half-sister, Deirdre.

As a youth, Arvis became entangled in the larger currents of Grannvale’s politics. When Prince Kurth waged war against Isaach, Arvis remained in Belhalla to tend to the ailing King Azmur. When Verdane raided Yngvi, Arvis was dispatched to intervene. During this period, he crossed paths with Sigurd of Chalphy, offering him a Silver Sword and entrusting him with Azelle’s safety. Arvis admired Sigurd’s skill and courage, though he kept his own ambitions closely guarded. His reputation grew not only as a commander but as a man of vision. Recognized by Azmur for his strength of character and political acumen, Arvis was designated to serve as regent until his heir was of age, effectively securing his path to emperorship.

Beneath his charisma, Arvis harbored his own ideals: a dream of a world without prejudice or suffering, forged through order and control. He held a firm belief that the ends justified the means, and this conviction made him both respected and feared. Yet his ideals also left him vulnerable to the manipulations of Manfroy, leader of the Loptr Church, who saw in Arvis’s minor Loptous blood the opportunity to advance his own dark ambitions.

As the Grannvale nobility descended into intrigue and civil war, Arvis orchestrated one of the greatest betrayals in Jugdral’s history. When Sigurd’s forces pressed toward Belhalla, Arvis maneuvered the field with ruthless cunning. First, he allowed Lombard and Reptor to clash with Sigurd’s army, using them as pawns. Then, in a display of duplicity, he turned on Reptor mid-battle, ordering his mages to rain destruction upon his ally, leaving Sigurd momentarily believing Arvis to be on his side. Arvis directed Aida to guide Sigurd’s men to Belhalla, where he prepared the stage for the infamous Battle of Belhalla.

At the ceremony meant to welcome Sigurd’s return, Arvis revealed his true hand. Before delivering the order, he cruelly allowed Sigurd to see Deirdre, confirming that she was indeed his long-lost wife. The revelation tore at him, for by then Arvis had discovered her true heritage—she was his half-sister. But his feelings for her, born of love and desire, had not diminished, and the thought of her knowing the truth was unbearable to him. With resolve hardened by ideology and sorrow, Arvis unleashed Valflame upon Sigurd, ending his life, while his army of mages obliterated Sigurd’s forces with Meteor.

In the aftermath, Arvis secured the throne as emperor of Grannvale. He married Deirdre and fathered Julius and Julia, as well as Saias from another relationship. Though he achieved his dream of ruling and appeared to bring order, his reign bore the stain of compromise. Manfroy’s influence and the revival of Loptous through Julius corrupted everything he had worked for. The peace he envisioned twisted into tyranny and despair, the promise of his ideals consumed by darkness.

Arvis was an ambitious, calculating, and commanding figure, but also one capable of love and regret. He admitted his mistakes in time, recognizing how thoroughly Manfroy had used him. While his methods and betrayals wrought devastation, he remained convinced that his intentions were for the greater good. By the end of his life, he sought atonement, carrying the weight of his sins and the collapse of his dreams. His story stands as one of Jugdral’s greatest tragedies: a man with the vision and power to shape the world, undone by his blood, his ambition, and the manipulations of those who understood both too well.

Appearance: Arvis has long, wavy crimson-red hair that falls past his shoulders and sharp red eyes. He wears a black and white robe with gold trim and ornate designs, secured at the waist by a gold belt with a circular buckle. His outfit includes black pants tucked into tall black boots decorated with vertical gold accents and red gemstones near the knees. Draped over his shoulders is a flowing crimson and black cape with a bright orange-red inner lining.

Arvis uses a tome to cast fire magic. It is called Valflame.

He is an infantry unit. He is currently a member of the Order of Heroes.

There are four unit types: Armored, Cavalry, Flying, Infantry.

Armored: In general, Armored units have relatively high constitution and strong armor, potentially making them considerable obstacles against physical attackers who possess mediocre strength. Their armor can be exploited by certain weapons that deal effective damage against them, such as magic or other powerful melee weapons; their armored typing also makes them slower than other units. Cavalry: Fast units that attack while on horseback. They are very fast an can cover a lot of distance. Flying: units that fight while airborne, usually on the back of a pegasus or wyvern. They can fly over most obstacles. Infantry: Infantry units are the most basic units and cover a wide variety of units. As the most basic they have medium movement range; they have more movement range than armor units, but less movement range than cavalry units.

Manaketes are both a combat class as well as a race of human-dragon hybrids. Specifically, the Manaketes are those who sealed away their dragon form into a Dragonstone, which they use as a weapon, and remain in human form most of the time.
