Arven (Japanese: ペパー Pepper) is a friend and rival character in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. He is the son of Professor Sada and Professor Turo. He is the player's primary partner for the Path of Legends storyline of Scarlet and Violet, where he seeks out the Herba Mystica.

Arven is a young man with blonde hair and green eyes. He wears a white and orange shirt and necktie with a blue vest with the Naranja Academy's emblem on the front, orange pants and brown boots. He carries a yellow backpack in his back.

Arven is an upperclassman at the Naranja Academyclose to graduation. He is skilled at cooking, and is a researcher of healthy recipes to make Pokémon feel better. He always carries a copy of the Scarlet Book with him. He is enrolled in the humanities track of the Academy, with his homeroom teacher being Mr. Salvatore.

His mother is Professor Sada and his father is Professor Turo. Both of the professors researched about Terastallization. However, Turo was devoted to his research in Area Zero that he neglected to see Sada and Arven, leaving Arven to live with his mother.

Arven mostly grew up alone with his mother in the lighthouse laboratory on Poco Path. The strained relationship with his father led Arven to devote most of his time to his companion Mabosstiff (originally a Maschiff) as well as learning to cook and clean. He enjoys picnics, especially their outdoor settings and the Sandwiches made. At some point, Turo succeeded in creating a working time machine, bringing Paradox Pokémon to the present time. One such Pokémon was Koraidon and Miraidon, which Turo brought to the lighthouse for safekeeping, instructing Arven to keep it a secret. However, multiple people ended up witnessing the Legendary Pokémon attacking several wild Pokémon, and Turo was forced to bring the Pokémon back to the Zero Lab. Unfortunately, Turo was killed by an another set of Koraidon and Miraidon who are the rogue one without Arven and Sada knowing about it. Arven would end up not seeing his father again until the ending events of the game, causing him to blame and loathe the Legendary Pokémon for taking his father away from him. Eventually, he and Mabosstiff visited Area Zero in an attempt to find his father, only for Mabosstiff to be attacked by a creature Arven describes as either rogue Koraidon and Miraidon. After taking a Flying Taxi out of the Great Crater of Paldea, he tried to heal Mabosstiff using a Pokémon Center and Potions, only to have failures due to his injuries being a special case. In desperation, he skipped his classes to research and attempt almost every cure available, yet he was not successful. At some point, he sifted through the Scarlet Book and learned of the legendary Herba Mystica, and, seeing his chance at revitalizing Mabosstiff, began to research them.

Arven would later befriend Florian, Juliana, Nemona and Penny who are also students at Naranja Academy. Juliana and Florian also befriended the first set of Koraidon and Miraidon who are kind unlike the rogue ones. Arven wasn't very good at battling, so he asked Juliana and Florian to help him with defeating the Titan Pokemon. Juliana and Florian would later help Arven find all Herba Mysticas guarded by the 5 Titan Pokemon and they were successful on curing Arven's Mabosstiff.

Later on, Arven and his friends would later go in the Great Crater of Paldea, and they meet the AI robot version of Turo, who revealed that the real Turo has been killed by the rogue Koraidon and Miraidon, and the real Turo's time machine is going haywire and if it is not stopped in time, Paradox Pokemon will come out from it and cause havoc to Paldea. AI Turo then begs the group to defeat him so that the time machine will be stopped. After the group defeats AI Turo and his Paradox Pokemon, including the rogue Koraidon and Miraidon, the time machine stopped working and Paldea is saved. AI Turo then goes to an unknown time period and thanks the group for saving Paldea.

His Pokemon team is includes Mabosstiff, Greedent, Cloyster, Scovillain, Toedscruel and Garganacl. He can Terastallize Mabosstiff into Dark Tera.
