Description on Chubfrom Chub

7/09/25: Huge v2.0.0 update! Added a bunch of mid-session commands so you can seamlessly manipulate characters: 'worldact'/'editscene', 'fastedit', 'fastinv', 'addentity' and 'faststart'. Give em each a try! You don't even need to start the roleplay with boot!

1.07.1: Hotfix so 'charact' behaves properly. Less accusing you of making demands/requests and more just spontaneously doing things (like the sims) HOPEFULLY.

6/30/2025: VERSION: 1.07 OUT! Try out the new 'charact' command! Directly have characters perform actions without breaking context/character in the middle of a scene! A new rules section has been created to better enforce consistency and to keep up with the 3D simulator nature of this lorebook!

=== QUICK TUTORIAL!! READ!! ===

So to interact with this lorebook, I highly recommend that you rev it up with the '>' sign. To get started, use the '>boot' command. You can use the boot command in any roleplay with a scene going; it'll completely interrupt it and turn the session into a Windows XP era 3d life sim.

Be sure to type things like '>Help: [command]' or '>List [command] menus'

You'll see the commands

Start: Spawns the character as is. Can be spawned in a challenge run (low resources, naked, other contextual challenge scenarios). Load: Similar to Start. Allows you to load the character in previous moments of their lives, or perhaps you can load a custom file (that you describe). Edit: Edits the characters physical appearance, outfit and history. Characters should T-Pose and allow you to change whatever. You may need to bang the lorecard with a stick to make sure the character remains expressionless and shuts up. Playground: The star of the show, tbh. My favorite command, creates a quick instance where you can chat with the character instantly and you can create custom scenarios and 'spawn actors'. Think of like a freeplay command in other life-sim/h-games. About: This mysterious program has creators after all...

=== Why this exists ===

Honestly? Nostalgia.

I was watching Povertycast the other day and I saw that Virtua Fighter 3TB was on. I'm no VF player at all, but I can see how insane the graphical fidelity was at the time and I just immediately felt the amount of potential, hope and energy that the turn of the century promised in terms of 3D graphics.

It's kind of a magical moment but things truly did feel limitless and special back in those days. You could see this in games like Shenmue and other games that tried pushing the envelope in customization like Artificial Girl by Illusion. I really wanted to capture this obsolete, yet forward-thinking and futuristic approach to life sims and games.

=== Fake Game Description ===

Artificial NPC is a Japanese Life Simulator Game running on Windows XP, created by the likes of Artificial Soft - an offshoot of Illusion Soft. It is on Version 1.06, the last version. This program was designed to work on Windows XP Service Pack 3 and has been patched and translated by a HongFire user named '777-9311'. As such, this program runs in a custom 3D engine in an old version of DirectX. The program was created in 2001 and supported until 2005 until Artificial Soft disappeared without a trace. Artificial NPC embodies the dated, yet cutting age aesthetic of early 3D graphics near the millennia when dreams of simulation and ambition is rife.

Tagline

Lorebook that tries to recapture early innovative 3D simulator games from the 2000s. Gives the user a TON of control. Think of Artificial Girl, Virtual Woman and 3D Sex Villa/TK17 and XStoryPlayer. Turns characters and scenes into fully modular scenarios. Save files and body slider galore. Tons of value and creativity.
