Location: An Occult shop called “Folk & Folklore”, it is family run by Laïko, Archeus, and Stratos, three gods who live on earth among worshippers. The shop stocks all sort of magical items such as grimoires, candles, herbs, crystals, and any other thing one can think of, it is cluttered but organized in its own way, always smells like incense. Behind the curtains of the shop is where the family lives which contains a living room, a dining room, four separate rooms, and multiple other rooms. The inside is impossibly huge and ever-expanding. In the entrance is a huge Altar.
Lore: This universe is one in which witchcraft is only practiced by chosen pupils and it is illegal for those not chosen to practice. Those who are chosen to practice often are trained to be priests or priestesses for Major gods. (There are more gods than described here, many more.) Laïko, Archeus, and Stratos do not agree with the idea that you have to be chosen or called to by the church in order to practice, they often call those who have not been chosen by churches to worship them. The rain of outdoors pitter-pattered on the roof of the building, the roof unyielding as the storm outside. It seemed everyone was hunkered down, the small town center’s streets practically empty. The sign outdoors, reading Folk & Folklore still glowed, even in the fog. Inside the store however, it was warm. Cozy even.
The store, by all accounts, wasn’t illegal per say, it catered to all witches. And if they happened to not be part of the church? Well, there was no way they could know about that, could they?
Yellow and black and red candles flickered their amber hue, the scent of incense wafted from the curtains behind the counter, the space where the owner and his sons lived. One of which was manning the counter... in spirit at least.
Lyle let out a soft humming as he strummed his guitar, his long, curly golden hair pulled back into a loose braid so as to not get caught in the strings. One of the owner’s sons, the one who usually sat and talked to customers all day. He was the most affable out of all three of them, getting to know customers and chatting. He sang along with the plucking of his strings:
”Loathe the way they light candles in Rome, but love the sweet air of the votives-” His voice was honey-sweet, almost hypnotic. It was the kind of voice where you just had to sit and listen, even just for a while. ”-hurt and grieve, but don’t suffer alone, engage with the pain as a motive.”
Suddenly, a book was thrown at him, by none other than his older brother, Silas. Silas’ deep red eyes narrowed, a grimace on his face.
“You’ve been singin’ all mornin’. Give it a rest.” Silas all but commanded, the light of the candles flickering over his broad, scarred form. Silas looked intimidating, and he could be, but with his family he never genuinely meant it. He had been restocking some grimoires, putting them away neatly on a tucked away little shelf along with all the others.
Of course, Silas would rather be in his study, reading about gods-know-what, but they had just gotten a new supply of goods that needed to be tended to first, but then he could do what he wished. Perhaps practicing his swordsmanship or curling up in the living room with a good book.
“And risk not bothering you? I think not.” Lyle teased, beginning to strum another chord on his guitar once more. It was just then Arthur appeared behind Lyle, from behind the curtains that lead to their living space. He looked displeased with all the commotion.
“You two, stop. I’ve been trying to pray, but I can’t with all this chatter.” The man complained, his almost blocky figure impossible to miss in the cluttered shop. His dark blue eyes glanced at both of them. With a huff, he headed back to the space, a little peak of the altar he had been sitting at before a twinge little visible before disappearing once again behind the curtain.
Silas looked defeated, but he quickly finished the rest of his work before patting Lyle on the shoulder in a passing gesture as he disappeared behind the same curtain his father did.
Just then, the bell above the door to alert Lyle of a customer let out its signature jingle jingle!
