Arthoc was a Jiralhanae Captain in service of the Banished. Arthoc was present during the Installation 07 conflict in 2560.

For the better part of a decade prior to 2560, Arthoc wreaked havoc on UNSC operations. While serving under Korth the Wrender within the Brothers of Unending Ire, he would participate in various raids on human colonies. Arthoc himself would lead almost four dozen individually documented attacks on colonial sites, with the most notable being a vicious ambush on the UEG colony of Terceira that claimed the lives of three entire squads of Orbital Drop Shock Troopers. Eventually, Arthoc and the rest of the Brothers of Unending Ire would pledge allegiance to Atriox and join the Banished.

Arthoc participated in the Installation 07 conflict, serving as part of Dratix Pack in the Second Combat Element of the Brothers of Unending Ire. On January 31, 2560, Arthoc joined Jiralhanae Warlord and Chieftain Tremonius as he led a massive Banished force in an assault against the UNSC personnel entrenched at the crash site of the UNSC Mortal Reverie. The overwhelming assault forced the surviving UNSC to retreat from the crash site on February 2.

Arthoc wore a maroon set of power armor and wielded a modified Veporokk Workshop Ravager called the Ravager Rebound, which he acquired through a request to Bannix at the Armory of Reckoning prior to the assault on the UNSC Mortal Reverie.

As with its predecessor, the MLRS-1, the MLRS-2 Hydra is a semi-automatic missile launcher equipped by infantry forces for use against other infantry and vehicles. The weapon is arranged in a manner similar to a conventional rifle, albeit with a more angular body than its predecessor. The fore of the weapon contains a revolving cylinder which stocks six 9X-G High Explosive, Air Bursting (HEAB) gyroscopically-stabilised missiles. These missiles can be individually-fired by the operator with a semi-automatic fire mode in either dumb-fire or locked-on to enemies. When locking onto enemies, the weapon's integrated semi-automatic tracking and targeting systems allow the operator to target enemy infantry or individual parts of vehicles for the missiles to home in on.

The Ravager was manufactured by the Forge of Torograd and developed by the Veporokk workshop. The Ravager has a profile and design similar to the Paegaas Workshop Spiker. Unlike the Spiker, the Ravager is a directed-energy weapon, firing red plasma incendiary bolts at targets. Once fired, the plasma incendiary rounds travel in a shallow arc, though can be affected by the presence of anti-gravity technology. When impacting a surface, the incendiary splashes the plasma around the point of impact.

The Rebound variant of the Ravager differs from the standard Veporokk design in a few major ways. In addition to having a white chassis, the weapon fires plasma projectiles injected with pockets of infusion matter, allowing the fired projectiles to bounce off surfaces and have multiple secondary detonations.

The CQS48 Bulldog is a pump-action combat shotgun which fires 12-gauge shells from a seven-round rotating drum. After every shot, the foregrip must be retracted and pushed forward again to work the weapon's action and rotate the cylindrical magazine into the next position.

The Ukala Workshop Spike Revolver, also known as the Mangler, is a sidearm developed by Ukala Workshop and manufactured by Saizos Armory. The mangler is a highly powerful handgun that fires spike projectiles with close-range precision and immense stopping power. It heavily resembles a human revolver, with an eight round swing-out cylinder reloaded using a speedloader-like device. It fires large spike rounds likely using an explosive charge or powder encased in red metallic cartridges. The actual projectiles are perfectly cylindrical before firing, and appear to warp somewhat after firing, indicating they may not be completely solid. The mangler also has a pair of tandem bayonets arranged in a tusk-like formation under the barrel for melee attacks. For centuries prior to the Jiralhanae's alliance with the Covenant, the mangler was employed by Jiralhanae warriors and hunting packs.

The Riven variant of the Manger bears a painted white colouration, and fires three split-shard spike projectiles when the trigger is pulled. It has a lower rate of fire than a standard Mangler.

The Shea'p is a fully automatic plasma turret with a high rate of fire. As with many turreted weapons, it can be detached from its base to be fired from the hip, though the weapon is left with a limited energy charge. Additionally, once it is detached, unlike its human counterpart, which does not overheat in any situation, the detached plasma cannon overheats after firing 13% of its reserve energy; though it can be vented at any point after sustained volleys. The mounted plasma cannon is also employed as the side turrets on the Phantoms, while the detached turret is typically wielded by Jiralhanae Chieftains.

The jump pack is a high-mobility propulsion unit used by the Jiralhanae jump pack specialists of the Covenant and the Banished.

The United Nations Space Command (UNSC) is the military, exploratory, and scientific agency of the Unified Earth Government (UEG) and has acted as the emergency governing body of the human race at large for a time.

The Battle for Zeta Halo was a large multi-faction battle that took place starting on December 12, 2559, prominently between the United Nations Space Command and the Banished on the Forerunner Halo Installation 07, otherwise known as "Zeta Halo", and continues as of around mid-2560. The earlier stages of battle ultimately led to the death of Cortana, the deactivations of her Guardians and the splintering of the Created in various fiefdoms and fledgling cells while simultaneously severely damaging Installation 07, making it a turning point of the Created uprising, although the conflict itself continued as of 2560.

The Banished are a multi-species confederation of pirates and raiding clans. Acting as mercenaries, the organization's goals have been described as attaining power in their raids across the Orion Arm, while their killers and mercenaries plunder treasure in the name of their own free will.

They were formed and led by the Jiralhanae warmaster Atriox after rebelling against the Covenant. The Banished are primarily composed of Jiralhanae and have incorporated Sangheili, Mgalekgolo, Unggoy, Huragok, and Kig-Yar, as Atriox denounced vengeance between species as a petty restriction in the way of gaining rewards and treasures.

Jiralhanae are a carnivorous, sapient species of mammals who share physical characteristics with Earth's gorillas, rhinoceros, and bears; due to their bear-like features, they are designated pseudo-ursines. They have thick skin that ranges in color from dark grey to dark and light brown and makes them highly resistant to harm, and their bodies are covered with matted tan, grey, white, brown, rust-red or black fur. Some Jiralhanae, such as those of the Vheiloth skein, shave their fur, with higher-ranking individuals sporting beards or mohawks. Pale fur and skin are considered extremely rare.

The Brothers of Unending Ire are a clan of Jiralhanae, sworn to service within the Banished.

Following the dissolution of the Covenant, the remnants of the Bloodstars were absorbed into the Banished. Atriox created a new iteration of the unit and tasked it with a new purpose of hunting and killing dangerous enemies; against the UNSC, this translated into killing Spartans.
