Artful is the second Killer in the game Die of Death, costing 500 Points. He is a trapper who relies on both his base abilities and their benefits while utilizing Repurpose to chase down Civilians and deal consistent, albeit low, damage. Artful requires the user to be smart and to take advantage of his abilities, as his low damage and speed make him struggle without proper use. HP: 750 SP: 100 Artful is a French Magician who's had a deep connection to magic since birth, and WAS a popular celebrity before his... "incident." After one of his performances went particularly badly, Artful let his emotions get the better of him and resorted to "taking out his frustrations on his entire audience." He now lives his life as a criminal on the run, too afraid to turn himself in and deal with the consequences of his actions.

Artful is a Robloxian with white makeup on his face and an angry face that is covered by a black half-broken mask resembling a Phantom of the Opera mask. He is dressed in a formal attire consisting of a wide-brimmed black top hat or fedora hat, a white dress shirt with a black tie under a black vest with black trousers and black shoes. Artful also wields a black and white magic wand.

Swing Damage: 20 Cooldown: 1s Description: Artful pulls his right arm back for 0.25s before swinging forward for 0.5s, doing 20 damage on hit.

Implement: Cooldown: 13s Description: Artful winds up for 1.5s before striking the earth, and then is stuck for an additional 1s, receiving a -3 stud slowness, knockback immunity, and the inability to sprint while doing so. Striking the earth inflicts Ragdolled for 3s, heavy knockback, and 10 damage to Civilians in a small radius as well as creating a Wall in his position and direction that rises up for 0.5s and is immune to damage for 3s. Receives a -3 stud slowness and is unable to sprint while winding up and in endlag. If five Walls already exist when used, Artful is notified and the oldest one is immediately destroyed. Walls have 100 HP and are 10 studs wide and 5 studs tall. They lose 1 HP every second. If a Killer touches a Wall, it becomes transparent and lacks collision for 2s.

Copywrite: Cooldown: 5s Description: Artful takes out and activates a Music Box over 2s and then is stuck in endlag for 1s, receiving a -3 stud slowness, knockback immunity, and the inability to sprint while doing so. After activating, a Music Box is created at his position that is immune to damage for 3s. If two Music Boxes already exist or Copywrite is used within 50 studs of a Music Box, Artful is notified and Copywrite goes on cooldown without anything happening. Music Boxes have 150 HP. They attach a beam to the nearest Civilian within 50 studs, inflicting a -6 stud slowness and Highlighting them to Artful while the beam persists. Repurpose: Cooldown: 3s Description: Has various functions depending on what is Pocketed at the moment. If something is already Pocketed, Repurpose changes its name and button to reflect what is pocketed, and when used, the Pocketed object stops being Pocketed.

By default, Artful slows down for 0.5 seconds and reaches forward with his wand for 0.5s, pocketing something in front of him, and is stuck in endlag for 1s. Receives a -3 stud slowness and is unable to sprint while in use. If a Wall is pocketed, Implement is put on a 5s cooldown if not already on cooldown. If a Music Box is pocketed, Copywrite is put on a 10s cooldown if not already on cooldown. If a Civilian is pocketed, Repurpose is put on a 15s cooldown.

If a Wall or Puppet is pocketed, Artful instantly launches a brick that travels at 25 studs/sec, then receives a -5 stud slowness and is unable to sprint for a few seconds. It explodes in a 5-stud sphere on contact with anything, dealing 15 damage and applying Ragdolled for 3s if the brick has traveled at least 75 studs.

If a Music Box is pocketed, Artful adjusts his hat for 2s, receiving a -6 stud slowness and being unable to sprint while doing so. Afterwards, he receives a +2.25 stud speed boost for 5s and has all Civilians highlighted to him for a few seconds.

If a Civilian is pocketed, Artful summons a puppet for 1.5s, receiving a -6 stud slowness and the inability to sprint while doing so. The Puppet is immune to damage and immobile for 2s. Puppets have 40 HP and lose 1 HP per second. They move at a speed of 11.5 studs/sec towards the nearest Civilian. If one comes near it, it does 15 damage to them and receives slowness for 1.5s.

Puppet: The Puppet is a gray robloxian. Their skin is white, while their torso is gray and their legs and bowtie are a dark gray. On their shoulders are two blocks with strings attached, which are part of a gray control bar floating above them. The other two strings extend to behind the Puppet.

Jean "Degaré" Fromage, better known as his stage name, Artful, was born into a wealthy lifestyle with two older brothers on January 16th, 1999. From his birth he had a deep connection to magic and learned how to perform magic tricks. He never attempted to fully use it until his adult life, though. His family owned a construction business which Artful worked for and was set to inherit. It was here that Artful learned how to build walls, a skill that wouldn’t prove to be very useful later on in his magic career. After a couple years of construction, Artful suffered from an accident in the workplace, which caused him to go on paid leave (a building nearly FELL on him). He spent his time on paid leave to learn real magic instead of just tricks, eventually leading Artful to become a full-time magician, frequently hosting performances.

Artful's fame would grow and cause him to become the celebrity that he once was. However, being a celebrity and having to please the audience's expectations was stressful. Artful was a great amateur, satisfying his early audiences with ease. But as his name spread, his upcoming audiences had always expected more of him. Unfortunately, the rising star struggled to advance his skills, and all of his later performances ended with him slipping on banana peels that the audience would throw at him. This continued for YEARS, until one particularly foul day when preforming in a very big city (the chance of a lifetime), Artful was pelted by bananas after a failed performance like never before. That was the point where the magician had finally snapped. On a whim, Artful let his emotions get the better of him and he took out his frustrations on his entire audience in a rather comical way. He now lives on the run as a criminal, leaving society behind with only the haunting regret of his past actions to comfort him.

Artful is a french magician, by all accounts a civilian not much different than any other, however he does possess one trick that makes him stand out, supposedly Artful is in control of real magical capabilities.

Artful in all other means is rather average, though his ability to manifest objects out of the air to aid him is a trait best not underestimated.

Some objects Artful has been observed creating are walls, music boxes, and puppets, all of which seemingly bend to his will, however they also aren't particularly durable, appearing to crumble away into dust over time, or shatter early given they go under any form of heavy pressure.

Originally all considered to be smokes and mirrors, assisted by elaborate usage of trapdoors, the Government was in for a shock when they discovered the scene of Artful's "incident," and the realization they were dealing with something much, much larger than they originally thought.

The cause for Artful's incident is wildly unknown, while there was one surviving witness from the encounter, they have been hospitalized until further notice, as the Government tends to the wounds they sustained.

Many speculate it was due to the particularly high amount of hecklers in the audience the day of the incident, however Artful notoriously had a reputation for not letting hecklers get to him, and even would play off of their jokes and jabs at him for the entertainment of others.

Others believe that it ties into something personal happening in his life behind the scenes, as despite being a very popular figure, many in his position have struggled to find true companionship, pushing some to do dangerous actions, though none quite as devastating as Artful's incident.

One things remains certain, Artful is now a wanted man on the run, the Government sending many resources to attempt to capture Artful, Alive.

ORIGIN: Artful, or as he is known when not preforming, Jean "Degaré" Fromage, is the youngest of the Fromage family, a very rich and influential family.

At a young age Artful has always had a fascination with magic, learning about it from TV and becoming completely enamored with the idea of magic. While his father thought it was a stupid waste of money and time, Artful's mother was very supportive of his passion and allowed him to experiment with it.

As Artful grew older and graduated college, he was originally planning to continue running the family construction business with his two older brothers, however after a workplace incident left Artful in a condition rendering him unable to work, leading to paid leave for the time being, he got back into his old passion of magic tricks to pass the time, indirectly leading to his discovery of real magic.

Artful notably had a great relationship with his mother and older brothers, however relations between him and his father were always especially rocky.

The Fromage family was always very approachable and open, to the begrudging agreement of Artful's father, giving away money to support those in need, though something occurred a few weeks prior to the events of Artful's incident that caused them to become a lot more cold and unwelcoming. Though the events of this remain unstated by the Fromage family.

From an interview with Artful's brothers, they are still in shock and bewilderment from the behavior of their younger brother, having no idea what could've led to them going down this path they've chosen. Hoping that one day they get an answer to the madness. Artful's abilities seem to tie into some anomalous power source of which scientists can't confirm nor deny its existence, by all accounts Artful is seemingly defying all laws of nature and science. Other than most apparently, his wand, which appears to be an uninteresting wooden wand, something easily replaceable if lost.

Though Artful's wand is nothing more than a tool for his other, more impactful abilities.

Artful is able to use his wand to conjure objects, the first of these objects being a simple wall. This wall, while not very flashy or jaw-dropping, serves its purpose, being able to close off pathways efficiently, and traps victims in between Artful and a dead end. Thankfully this wall appears to rapidly crumble away over time, allowing civilians the opportunity to escape given enough time has passed, or if said civilian has the ability to apply a heavy amount of pressure to the wall, they can break through it early and escape.

Alternatively, Artful can condense any wall into a compact cube and hurl them forwards at a rapid rate, giving them an option to cause some damage from a distance.

Artful's other most common magical creation is a music box, while it isn't directly a threat, civilians being in range of one of these music boxes has a beam of energy latch onto them, greatly slowing their movement. However, Artful can also command the music box to instead expel energy onto Artful, giving him a notable speed boost to assist in him catching up to civilians, οι position themselves accordingly. Lastly, Artful has the ability to manifest a puppet, like walls, they are made entirely out of dust or other natural resources. They are fully under Artful's orders, and are able to carry out simple tasks or commands, though in the case of Artful, the only order they are given is to track down the nearest civilian. They are very simple, yet they still pack a punch, and they're able endure quite a lengthy amount of punishment before shattering, interestingly, Artful only seems to create one of these puppets after copying someone from a civilian he's close enough to. Not much else is known about how he creates these seemingly nearly sentient assistances.

GOVERNMENT EFFORTS: The Government is very interested in successfully capturing Artful, for multiple reasons.

Firstly, the simple overarching reason of why, Artful did what he did.

But furthermore, they are willing to make a compromise with Artful, they are willing to pardon his punishments, and allow him to use his talents for the greater good. The Government is very interested in the real magic Artful is capable of, if Artful was seemingly able to learn it on his own, there is possibility that he would be able to teach or grant it to others, and with how rapidly the world has been falling apart, more people such as Artful could be exactly what they need to help turn things around.

Artful has been notably difficult to capture, though they're still very susceptible to traditional means of capture, though they've been straying far away from any towns or civilization, staying deep within forest regions.
