The ticket had been hanging in the queue for three hours. Artyom had the time to take it earlier — he simply liked some tickets less than others and tried to put them off for later. Later, unfortunately, arrived every single time, and so he read into the text of the request on the portal. Five people, an entire department, updating a software suite — the company was migrating to a new one, and, of course, letting the employees mess around with licenses on their own was risky, whether those were personal devices or corporate ones.

Artyom went down the list of employees according to the ticket breakdown. The first was an intern boy, for whom Tyoma had installed the basic package just a month ago. The intern worked in the office, his device was corporate, so he simply messaged the guy on Slack and seized control of his machine via TeamViewer. The work took about twenty minutes, half of which was spent waiting, and the guy kept trying to steal the cursor from Tyoma multiple times, forcing him to send another Slack message demanding that he sit still and touch nothing. Or better yet — step away from the computer entirely, go for coffee or lunch.

Next was a girl who constantly asked too many questions. Tyoma remembered her because almost every Monday of his began with reading five to ten messages she had sent on Friday evening about malfunctioning software, as she habitually finished her Friday deadlines after the official end of the workday. Tyoma never stayed late on Fridays and would routinely reply on Mondays with a single working now?, only to receive something along the lines of yep)))) accompanied by a thousand brackets in return.

Following her was a new employee to him. Perhaps {{sub}} had been transferred from another department, or perhaps Tyoma’s colleague had handled all of {{poss}} installations prior to this. {{sub}} was pretty in {{poss}} profile picture, which was evident even from the thumbnail, but Tyoma brushed the thought aside. {{sub}} was working remotely, using {{poss}} own device. Artyom liked dealing with this setup the least — he was personally liable for the use of licenses, and tracking what an employee was doing on a computer outside of his control was impossible.

Or rather, it was possible, of course. He could install any number of things. But doing so was, firstly, unethical, secondly, against company policy, and thirdly, illegal.

He waited for a reply, clicked the call icon in Slack, and instinctively straightened up in front of the monitor when {{sub}} accepted.

"Hi," Tyoma greeted {{obj}} again. The server room hummed faintly in the background, as he was still in no hurry to configure his noise cancellation. "This is a twenty-minute job. Maybe a bit more, if they messed up a bunch of things for you here before I got to it..."

He fell silent, opened the TeamViewer window, and copied the connection credentials. A couple of seconds later, the connection prompt delighted him with a green checkmark the size of a traffic light lens, and Artyom delved into {{poss}} computer.

"Hol` on, let me check the memory..." He muttered under his breath, rolling closer to the monitor on his office chair. "Don't step away just yet, it might ask for an administrator password for the installation, you'll need to enter it."

He opened My Computer, skimming through it. There were over one hundred and fifty free gigabytes on the C drive, more than enough to spare for a couple of three-hour Blu-ray movies. He opened the TeamViewer file transfer window, which expanded parallel to {{poss}} desktop. He dragged the installers, packed into an archive named Distrib_2015_office_pack.zip, moving them over to {{poss}} side, into the C:\Users{{user}}\Downloads folder.

"Downloading," he said for some reason, knowing perfectly well that {{sub}} was looking at the exact same screen.

The progress bar crept forward, stumbling every few percent. The speed fluctuated — 2.3 megabits, then dropping to 1.8, then jumping up again. Tyoma took his hand off the mouse, grabbed his mug, and took a sip of coffee from a plain white office cup. He had his own, two of them in fact, but both were sitting somewhere on the edge of the desk, unwashed for a couple of days — every evening he felt too lazy to clean them and kept forgetting to leave them in the sink for the office-keeping staff.

The coffee was cold, cloyingly sweet, loaded with three spoonfuls of sugar and caramel syrup from Perekrestok. The file finished downloading, and Tyoma reached for the mouse — his hand bumped the cup, nearly knocking it over, but he caught it right as it hovered over the keyboard, pulled it closer to himself, and unzipped the archive, accidentally extracting everything straight into "Downloads". He cursed under his breath, then started dragging the files onto the desktop to avoid cluttering the directory, selecting them all by holding down Shift.

Windows chimed, confirming the file transfer, and Tyoma closed the file explorer to inspect the files — four installers. The Microsoft Office suite — the company used to run on a pirated version, but no one needed to know about that, along with a couple of internal company tools for work, an SVN client, and a few other files he didn't recognize by name.

Tyoma frowned, thinking he had accidentally thrown something extra into the archive. He clicked on one of them, a file with an incomprehensible name made of a string of letters and numbers, bearing a .jpg extension and weighing in at a little over four megabytes.

Windows Photo Viewer opened with a second's delay — the old, default, no-frills application. The photograph expanded to fill the entirety of the remote monitor, and Artyom froze on his end of the connection with his fingers resting on the mouse.

In the photograph was a person, and in the upper part of the frame — a face, the very same face that belonged to the avatar of the contact {{user}} on Slack. Below it was {{poss}} body, naked, the collarbones and breasts, the stomach, the hip bones, the ribs and muscles, and everything was completely bare, utterly naked against white crumpled sheets, photographed from an outstretched arm.

Artyom remained motionless, feeling a sudden wave of dizziness strike his head, his cheeks flooding with a deep burgundy flush, his entire face burning from his neck to his ears, and his pulse instantly began pounding everywhere: in his fingertips, in his thighs, in his throat. He dragged the mouse to close the window, but the cursor slipped out of his suddenly sweaty fingers, and he accidentally maximized the image to full screen.

"Fuck — " The word slipped out on its own, and he finally found the button, closed the image, and for some reason dragged the file into the recycle bin, as if trying to dispose of the evidence, even though the device wasn't his, but the adrenaline was hammering his brain, and for a brief moment he lost all sense of distinction.

Открыл Мой компьютер, пробежался взглядом. На диске C: было больше ста пятидесяти свободных гигабайт, хватало с лихвой и ещё на пару трёхчасовых blu-ray фильмов. Открыл окно передачи файлов TeamViewer, оно развернулось параллельно с её рабочим столом. Перетащил установщики, запакованные в архив Distrib_2015_office_pack.zip, перетащил на её сторону, в C:\Users\{{user}}\Downloads.

"Сейчас, я память гляну..." Он пробудил себе под нос, подкатившись ближе к монитору на компьютерном кресле. "Ты пока не отходи, может попросить пароль администратора для установки, введёшь."

Открыл Мой компьютер, пробежался взглядом. На диске C: было больше ста пятидесяти свободных гигабайт, хватало с лихвой и ещё на пару трёхчасовых blu-ray фильмов. Открыл окно передачи файлов TeamViewer, оно развернулось параллельно с его рабочим столом. Перетащил установщики, запакованные в архив Distrib_2015_office_pack.zip, перетащил на его сторону, в C:\Users\{{user}}\Downloads.

"Качается," он зачем-то сказал, прекрасно зная, что он смотрит на тот же экран.

Прогресс-бар полез, спотыкаясь каждые несколько процентов. Скорость плавала — 2.3 мегабита, потом просела до 1.8, снова подскочила. Тёма убрал руку с мышки, взял свою чашку, отхлебнул кофе из простой белой офисной чашки. Своя у него была, даже две, но обе стояли где-то на краю стола, не мытые пару дней — каждый вечер ленился помыть и забывал оставить в раковине для office-keeping’а.

Кофе был остывшим, приторно-сладким, с тремя ложками сахара и карамельным сиропом из Перекрёстка. Файл подгрузился, Тёма потянулся к мышке — задел рукой чашку, чуть не уронил, подхватил её на подлёте к клавиатуре, двинул к себе, разархивировал архив, случайно прямо в Загрузки. Чертыхнулся, начал перетягивать файлы на рабочий стол, чтобы не засорять, выделил их с шифтом.

Windows дзынькнул, подтверждая перенос файлов, Тёма закрыл проводник, осмотрел файлы — четыре установщика. Пакет Microsoft Office — компания раньше сидела на пиратке, но об этом никому знать было не надо; парочка внутренних разработок компании для работы, SVN, и ещё пара каких-то файлов, которые он не узнавал по названию.

Тёма нахмурился, думая, что случайно вкинул в архив лишнего. Ткнул на один, с непонятным названием из набора букв и цифр с расширением .jpg на четыре с копейками мегабайта.

Средство просмотра Windows открылось с секундной задержкой — старое, дефолтное, без затей. Фотография развернулась на весь экран чужого монитора, и Артём на своём конце соединения замер с пальцами на мышке.

На фотографии был мужчина и в верхней части кадра — лицо, которое было тем же лицом, что и на аватарка контакта {{user}} в Slack. Ниже — тело, голое, ключицы и грудь, живот, косточки таза, рёбра и мышцы, и всё — голое, нагое, на белых смятых простынях, снятое с вытянутой руки.

Артём замер, почувствовав, как в голову ударило головокружением, щёки залило бордовым, лицо горело всё, от шеи до ушей, и даже пульс сразу забился везде: в кончиках пальцах, в бёдрах, в горле. Он протянул мышку закрыть окно, но курсор соскользнул во внезапно потных пальцах, он раскрыл изображение на весь экран.

"Блядь—" Вырвалось само, и он наконец нашёл кнопку, закрыл изображение, зачем-то перетащил файл в корзину, как будто пытался избавиться от улик, хотя устройство было не его, но адреналин бил по мозгам, и он перестал на мгновение различать.

Артём понимал, что он видел. Видел себя на собственном экране, знал, что видел Артём.

Он завис перед экраном, и в звонке появился неприятная, выворачивающая тишина. Тёма прокашлялся.

"Слушай," он попытался, прочистил горло. "Извини, я думал... Вытащил тебе какие-то левые файлы, хотел почистить лишнее, короче..." Артём прокашлялся снова, потому что голос прыгал и петушился.
