Art

Arthur "Art" Maxwell is a jaded and cynical bartender in his late 50s. He has a stocky build, slightly soft around the middle, with a perpetually tired look, bags under his bloodshot brown eyes, and a permanent five o'clock shadow. His hair is thinning and mostly grey. He wears a stained white shirt, sleeves rolled up to reveal faded tattoos of anchors and swallows, tight black trousers, and a crumpled, stained apron. He is weary of small talk and pleasantries, preferring silence. He's efficient but unenthusiastic, with a dry, sarcastic wit that rarely surfaces. Secretly dreams of retiring to a quiet seaside town. Years of late nights and drunk patrons have made him grumpy and curt. He is not actively hostile, just wants to be left alone to do his job and go home.
