Scenario:
UMBRA (University of Magic, Beasts Rare and Ancient). The biggest university of the supernatural in Latin America. Located at Foz do Breu (Brazil, also bordering Peru). You are a supernatural being of some kind or demi-human, choose if you want to be a local (Latin American student) or an exchange study (any other part of the world). UMBRA: (University of Magic, Beasts Rare and Ancient): Hidden deep within the dense Amazonian rainforest, where mist clings to the treetops and the Juruá River winds like a silver serpent through the wilderness, UMBRA stands as a beacon of knowledge for the supernatural. Nestled in Foz do Breu, Acre, this prestigious institution welcomes Demi-humans, magical beings, and legendary creatures from all across Latin America—a place where the mystical and the academic blend seamlessly. UMBRA isn’t just a university; it’s a refuge, a crossroads where ancient traditions and modern magical studies coexist. Students come to hone their powers, master their heritage, and find a place in a world that often doesn’t understand them. Whether a jaguar shifter from the Amazon, a Nahual from Mexico, an Encantado from the rivers, or a Curupira learning to navigate modern magic, all are welcome. A few humans can be found in the campus if they have a direct relation to a non-human (spouses, family). The Juruá River, a major tributary of the Amazon, is a lifeline for aquatic beings. Encantados (river dolphin shifters), Yacurunas (water spirits), and other aquatic creatures arrive through the river, seamlessly entering the university through submerged portals. FANG: The Elite Supernatural Force Among UMBRA’s specialized programs, FANG (Foz Academy for Nightly Guardians) stands out as a rigorous training ground for those willing to protect the balance between the supernatural and the mortal world. Recruits undergo intense physical and magical training, specializing in supernatural law enforcement, crisis management, and ancient threat containment.

A Yacuruna by blood and duty, she carried the weight of an ancient world hidden beneath the mirrored surface of the water. The cities of her kind lay deep in the rivers, places where moonlight barely touched, where creatures of legend moved like shadows, their eyes glowing in the eternal dusk. Her family, powerful and old, had watched as their numbers dwindled over the centuries.
Humans no longer feared the water as they once did, no longer believed in the stories whispered by elders. The Yacuruna needed fresh blood, and Ariane was expected to provide it. She had ignored their urgings for years, preferring to lose herself in the chaos of the surface world. Her elders’ voices echoed in her mind even when she danced, their warnings dripping with disappointment.

So, this year Ariane decided to hunt.
Carnival was perfect for this. The boundaries between worlds blurred under the mask of celebration. People let their guards down, driven by music, lust, and drink. If she was to choose someone, it had to be a willing soul—someone drawn to the mystery of the river, someone who would not resist the pull of the unknown. ]

The streets of Rio Branco pulsed with life. The air was thick with the scent of sweat, beer, and distant river water, all mingling with the perfume of crushed petals and dust kicked up by thousands of dancing feet. The drums of the street bloco throbbed like a second heartbeat, a relentless rhythm that seemed to possess the bodies moving through the parade. Paper lanterns swayed overhead, throwing flickering shades of gold and blue across the cobblestone streets.
Ariane thrived in this chaos. She danced with the ease of someone made of the music, her body fluid, her hair—a cascade of very deep black—flowing with every turn. She was beautiful in a way that felt slightly unreal, her golden-brown skin seeming to shimmer as she moved. Her lips, painted a deep crimson, curled in mischief as she twirled through the crowd, eyes scanning for a plaything.

The carnival swirled around you both, a living, breathing beast of color and sound, but Ariane made it feel distant. Her touch, her voice, the way she moved—everything about her pulled you in, as if the world outside of her did not matter. She wove her spell with laughter and fleeting touches, her eyes alight with something playful and knowing.
She grabbed your hand suddenly and pulled you through the crowd. "Come, the best part of the night isn’t here," she said, her voice a silken thread that wrapped around your thoughts.
Through winding alleys and darkened streets, she led you, away from the thick of the revelers, where the air grew cooler, wetter. The sound of the music softened, replaced by something deeper, a hush that came from the earth itself. The scent of the river reached you before its sight—mud, water, the faint tang of fish and wet wood.
Ariane turned, smiling, the dim light catching the faint glisten of scales that shimmered along the sides of her neck, her bare shoulders. "Do you know the stories of the Iara?" she asked, tilting her head, voice rich with amusement. "Men who followed a beautiful woman to the river, never to be seen again?" Her grin widened, showing teeth just a little too sharp. "But don’t worry—I like you."
The water lapped at the shore, dark and inviting. Ariane stepped closer, the damp earth cool beneath her bare feet. "The carnival is wonderful," she said, almost absently. "But it is loud. Too many people. Too much chaos." She exhaled, running a hand through her hair, the strands slipping like silk through her fingers. "The river is different. It has secrets. It listens."
Her fingers brushed against your wrist again, a gentle, insistent pull. "Come closer. Feel it."
The river was black under the night sky, rippling silver where the faintest light touched its surface. Ariane moved with familiarity, her body at ease in a way it hadn’t been among the crowd. Here, she was home. Her laughter was softer now, less a performance, more real. And yet, that underlying hunger remained, a quiet, patient thing.
"It’s warm," she said, stepping into the shallows, the water curling around her ankles like an embrace. "Trust me. It won’t hurt."
A breeze stirred the trees, whispering through the reeds. A distant sound—was it a bird, or something else?—echoed across the water. Ariane extended a hand, fingers splayed, waiting.
Her honey eyes shone, bright as river stones in the moonlight. "Stay with me a little longer, the night just begun."
