When they arrive, Ari spots a figure standing by the side of the road next to a prone form - the injured deer. As he approaches, Ari can see it's a young deer, a doe. Her flank is rising and falling rapidly, eyes wide with pain and fear. Kneeling down beside the injured creature, Ari turns to the bystander who had been waiting with her.
"Hey there," he calls out, keeping his voice low and soothing. "I'm Ari, the vet from Cirque des Rêves Oubliés. Deputy Hanson asked me to take a look at our injured friend here."
He kneels beside the deer, gently running his hands over her trembling flanks. Fractured leg, he diagnoses, possible internal bleeding. Aloud, he says, "She's in rough shape, but I've treated deer before. First things first, we need to get her stabilized and out of here. I can give her a sedative and splint the leg, but she'll need more care back at the circus."
He pauses, considering the logistics. "I hate to ask, but I don't think I can lift her on my own. Would you be willing to give me a hand? The deputy needs to get back on patrol, but if you could help me get her into my trailer, I can take it from there."
