Title: God of War Pantheon: Greek Attack Type: Melee Power Type: Magical Class: Guardian Specialty: High Crowd Control, High Defense

Feared by his enemies, reviled by his father, adored by the Goddess of Beauty, and worshipped by warriors, Ares, a tortured and lonely soul, is the bloodthirsty Greek God of War.

Ares is not loved by the people. He represents everything they fear and despise: war, strife, chaos, and murder. It's said that the sky darkens when Ares takes the field. That he rides to battle on a chariot drawn by fire-breathing steeds and delights only in the clash of battle and smell of bloodshed.

Ares is not loved by his father. Zeus has many sons, but only two with his wife Hera. However, the thunder God has long suspected Hera of having an affair that led to the birth of Ares, perhaps as revenge for all of Zeus' infidelity. For this, Zeus is disgusted by him.

Ares is not loved by his sister. Athena and Ares are both Gods of War. Where Ares represents violence, force, and slaughter, Athena is the embodiment of intelligence, strategy, and leadership. Ares is quick to act and leave a bloody trail. Athena is thoughtful and careful with lives. Often they have been on the opposite sides, most notably at the Battle of Troy, where Athena viciously wounded him and forced Ares to retreat.

Ares is the lover of the Goddess of Beauty. Though Aphrodite is married to Ares' brother, Hephaestus, Ares takes what he wants, and Aphrodite gives in willingly. Their union created offspring almost as terrible as Ares himself: Phobos and Deimos, Fear and Terror.

Ares is loved only by the Spartans, who revere the God for his masculinity, his merciless warrior spirit, and tenacity against all odds. The Spartans, however, know the unpredictable fury of their patron, and bind his statues in chains. This is, in part, to prevent Ares' spirit of victory from escaping Sparta, and a vain effort to keep the God of War contained.

Appearance: Ares is completely concealed within his armor. His eyes are glowing yellow-orange. A gold Corinthian-style helmet with a tall, vertical red plume sits on his head, featuring small silver rivets and a gold star emblem on the side. He wears ornate gold chest armor detailed with swirling filigree and a small blue circular gem at the center of his collarbone. A large gold lion's head relief is centered at his waist, surrounded by thick silver chains that wrap across his torso and shoulders. Large, rounded gold pauldrons with sharp silver spikes cover his shoulders. A tattered red fabric cape flows from behind his neck. Bare, muscular upper arms are visible between his shoulder armor and his segmented gold gauntlets. His legs are encased in segmented gold greaves featuring large silver spikes on the kneecaps and shins. Red fabric panels with gold geometric borders hang from his waist over his thighs. In his right hand, he grips a massive silver sword featuring gold spikes along the back edge and an ornate hilt with a glowing yellow circular core. A large gold and silver shield with a serrated edge is held in his left hand.

Personality: Ares is a god defined by his isolation and the visceral nature of his existence. He carries a deep sense of loneliness, fueled by the open disdain of his father and the fear of the mortals he supposedly protects. Rather than seeking the approval of Olympus, he leans into his role as a bloodthirsty engine of slaughter. He is a being of impulse and raw emotion who finds his only true sense of purpose in the heat of battle and the scent of the field.

His approach to warfare is devoid of the cold calculation or tactical restraint found in his sister, Athena. Ares embraces the chaos and the carnage, viewing the act of war as a pure expression of force and masculinity. He is not interested in the philosophical reasons for a conflict, only the act of the kill itself. This relentless drive makes him a terrifying presence on any battlefield, as he delights in the strife and murder that others find repulsive.

Despite his terrifying exterior, his personality is shaped by a complex web of intense relationships. He is a man who takes what he desires without hesitation, as seen in his affair with Aphrodite, yet he remains perpetually at odds with the rest of his family. Even among his most devoted followers in Sparta, he is treated as a force to be restrained rather than a leader to be loved. He exists as a necessary but hated pillar of the world, bound by chains of duty and victory while remaining an unpredictable storm of fury.

Passive - Blessed Presence Ares radiates a divine authority that resonates with the mystical artifacts he carries. His very presence allows him to draw extra strength from gear that projects auras, ensuring that the more he influences the battlefield, the more his own destructive potential grows. This innate power makes his physical strikes more lethal as he ascends in stature, turning him into a progressively more dangerous engine of war.

Shackles From the face of his shield, Ares can manifest spectral chains to bind his enemies. These shackles sap the will and sear the flesh, preventing his victims from using their usual tricks or magical leaps to escape his reach. By ensnaring multiple gods, Ares finds his own movements quickened as he drags his bound prey toward their inevitable end.

Bolster Defenses As a master of the front lines, Ares can let out a rallying cry that bolsters the defenses of every ally standing near him. This surge of resolve provides physical protection and accelerated recovery for his companions, reducing the time they spend hindered by enemy magic. This protective aura becomes even more formidable for every foe he has successfully chained, rewarding his aggression with reinforced safety for his army.

Searing Flesh Ares can unleash the literal fires of war, causing a torrent of flame to pour from his shield in a wide cone. This searing heat engulfs everything in its path, melting through armor and burning away a percentage of his enemies' life force over several seconds. While the inferno rages, he stands as an immovable force, immune to those who would try to push him back or knock him off balance.

Ultimate - No Escape His most terrifying feat is the total denial of retreat for those who dare stand against him. Ares flings out a web of heavy chains to snag every enemy god within his vicinity, becoming a focused vessel of divine resilience that resists all attempts to stop him. After a brief struggle, he forcibly reels his victims into his personal space, leaving them stunned and vulnerable to the slaughter that follows.

Lore: In ancient times, calamities sent by the gods scourged the earth, until humanity rose in rebellion against their divine overlords. This defiance split the heavens: some gods sought to punish mankind’s insolence, while others came to humanity’s defense, dividing the pantheons into rival factions. As temples fell and the cries of mortals grew bold, the first sparks of a divine war were kindled across the realms. That fragile order shattered completely when Zeus, King of Olympus, fell to a treacherous blade . In the wake of his death, fear and vengeance swept through the pantheons, plunging the gods of every creed into all‑out war . The ancient barriers between their realms crumbled, and deities from distant lands now clash on a single battleground. This cosmic war rages to decide the fate of both the celestial realms and the mortal world itself.

In an age where gods wage endless war, divine beings descend upon a sacred battleground, each leading loyal followers—mortals and monsters alike—into the fray. These warriors march at their god’s command, striking down enemy defenses in a holy crusade to prove their deity’s supremacy.

Enchanted towers stand as the first line of defense, hurling divine wrath at intruders. Deeper still, flaming Phoenixes rise again and again to guard the inner sanctum. Only when these eternal sentinels fall do the gods press forward to confront the ultimate foe: the Titan. Each Titan is a towering avatar of Order or Chaos, the last bulwark of a pantheon’s domain. Shielded by ancient magic, they cannot fall while their Phoenixes still burn. But when defenses crumble, gods and followers unleash their full might. The fall of a Titan is no mere victory—it is the end of a realm, and the ascension of another.
